The New Black Panther Party is offering $10,000 for the "capture" of the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that New Black Panther leader Mikhail Muhammad announced the bounty on George Zimmerman's head during a rally over the weekend in Sanford, Florida, where the shooting happened last month.
"If the government won't do the job, we'll do it," Muhammad said, referring to the failure thus far of police to arrest Zimmerman.
Sanford Police Captain Robert O'Connor is asking that people ignore the offer.
"The City is requesting calm heads and no vigilante justice," he said in a statement. "Attempts by civilians to take any person into custody may result in criminal charges or unnecessary violence."
The New Black Panther Party should not be confused with the Black Panther Party, which was active during the civil rights movement in the 1960s and 1970s. The Southern Poverty Law Center said the original party has rejected the new group.
The SPLC described the New Black Panther Party as is "a virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers."

Gee—I wonder what the media response would be if I announced a bounty of $1000.00 for each scalp or, better yet, the left and right index fingers of New Black Panther Party members.

So it’s legal to put a bounty on someone? The Holder DoJ will just assume you’re blowing off steam? Or does the Holder DoJ already have an established relationship of winking and nodding the New Black Panther party along? And where is there a serious lawsuit filed on behalf of a Democrat delegate challenging Obama’s ballot entry? Who benefits from a black militia in Florida? Don’t expect the mid stream media to ask.
This Black Panther military nonsense has me furious. As far as I am concerned, these are unlawful combatants openly plotting to commit a war crime against a lawful US citizen, and I think they should be reported to the US Marine Corps and sent to Gitmo with no right to attorney or speedy trial.
There should be zero tolerance for terrorists on our soil, zero. Imagine trying to live your life in the shoes of George Zimmerman because of these sons of bitches....

...it should read “$10,000 in food stamps, government cheese, malt licka and cigarettes”.
It seems to me that the FBI needs to be protecting Zimmerman from the NBP scum and the riff raff that follows them. I have little doubt that someone who wants the &10,000 will take them up on the offer.
Are you kidding? Racial guilt is one of the cornerstones of the B.O. campaign.
“Capture”? AKA Unlawful Imprisonment. AKA Kidnapping.
May? MAY? In context, that's tantamount to wink-and-a-nod "go ahead boys." I'd expect a no-questions "WILL result in IMMEDIATE criminal charges, to the full extent of the law."
I hope Zimmerman got his gun back from the PD. He needs it now more than ever.
If a bounty was put on my head I like to think I’d go find the guy who put up the bounty and say “Here I am, tough guy. Interested in paying yourself the bounty?”
One of these days they WILL put the bounty on the wrong guy.
