Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama holds a double-digit lead over GOP presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in hypothetical general election matchups, according to a new poll.
And a CNN/ORC International survey released Wednesday also indicates that the president's approval rating has inched over the 50% mark in CNN surveys for the first time since last May, when the polls were still registering the after effects of the death of Osama bin Laden. The number of Americans who say the economy's in good shape has jumped 13 points since January, though the survey shows a majority still think it is in poor shape.

Bull Shout!!!!!!
Not in the real world; maybe in the Twilight Zone. No one I talk to can stand the fraud in our WH. Profanity spews whenever his name is mentioned.
Goebbel’s would love these liars.
Let’s wait until GOP primary is settled, and the general election begins.
That is a bunch of Bull s*** and they KNOW IT..if Obama had this thing won he wouldn’t need to do a race war and class warfare..Obama’s poll numbers are in the toilet. My two poochies could beat Obama in 2012, that is why Obama will do whatever it takes to ensure that no elections take place
I totally agree, BS!!!!!!!!!!
Here is Rassmussen, daily poll, The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 28% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13
In a hypothetical 2012 matchup, President Obama leads Mitt Romney leads by a single percentage point, 45% to 44%. If Rick Santorum is the GOP nominee, the president leads 47% to 43%. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern

Obama did NOT win by a landslide the first time, and I know a lot of people who voted for him who strongly regret it now.
Seeing as it is nowhere near November, who do they think really cares?
Does anyone at CNN even believe CNN?
We don’t believe CNN any other time. Let’s not let this be an exception.
We’ll see about that.
From the internals:
BASED ON 1,014 AMERICANS
925 REGISTERED VOTERS
457 REGISTERED DEMOCRATS
411 REGISTERED REPUBLICANS
ROFLOL!
Reagan was way way behind carter in 1980 at this stage. True, Reagan was a better candidate than mitt or even RS. But hussein is much worse than carter ever was.
What are the internals? what are the sample percentages?
Whatever. Next, please.
If you read the internals. Back in November 2010 when the Dems lost 63 seats in House (one of the biggest wipeouts in history) - the poll had Obama at 48% approval and Dems favored over Repubs by 5 points. LOL!
This poll is corrupt.
LOL!!!!!
I can’t figure, please explain why is Drudge pro-Romney?
Who would vote for Obama after his “recorded” words to Dmitry Medvedev?
We need a poll that matches up: Obama/Biden against Romney/Santorum.
Bull Shoot!!!!!!!!
When are they going to realize that it is closer to 50% republicans and 20% democrats with 30% as swish....
Part of me thinks this CNN poll is baloney, the other part thinks there are enough stupid people in this country that it could be true.
Earth to CNN!....YOUR’RE PISSIN IN THE WIND!
I'm pretty sure we all know a lot of people in the above category. But, here is the $64,000 question:
Has anyone met the person who DID NOT vote for Obama in 2008 but will vote for him now?
18-22 year olds?
They know it, they just refuse to accept it.
they fooled us in 1992 and in 2008 but they realize they can’t get away with it anymore. This election will be as much a referendum on the media as it will be on Obama. I just hope we can make it through it without a large loss of life.
I don’t believe this for one minute. I also have to say that people on our side need to get rid of Obama this next election, no matter what.
There has never been anyone as awful and dangerous as Obama.
Several McCain voters who passed away in the last 4 years will be voting for Obama this time, particularly in the states where Holder has overturned the voter ID laws.
The poll is of REGISTERED voters. Those are meaningless.
Drudge is part of the media arm of the Republican party and Romney is their hand-picked candidate.
THIS is CNN. The poll has been libbed.
That’s okay, since they can always throw Jefferey Toobin and Wolf Blitzer on there to look shocked and amazed when Barry suffers a 46 state wipeout.
I have believed for a long time now that none of the three top GOP contenders can beat 0bamarx.

I know. I’m dreaming. But I think she’s the only one who would have a realistic shot.

Now that is what I call true desperation!
If you expected to be the presidential nominee of a major party during an economic depression, and would need a strong turnout from suffering middle class party members and independents in flyover country to win, would you during the months leading up the election spend $12 million remodeling a home in the wealthy enclave of La Jolla, California? http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/27/for-romney-a-four-car-garage-with-its-own-elevator/
Ask Mitt Romney. He is doing exactly that. He is either very insensitive to the electorate or a very smart and wealthy man who already knows he is not going to win the general election. Take your pick.
Obama is GREAT!
It sounds like Santorum and Romney are essentially even (43% to 42%) when it comes to matching up against Obama. I’ve already heard a couple Obama campaign people talk about Romney, and they’ve pointed out Romney’s flip flops and Romney’s blueprint for Obamacare. I think they will have fun going up against Romney.
Jedi, thank you for answering my question.
It’s difficult for me to look at Drudge now. Did you happen to catch Santorum explaining to Shawn Hannity the poolside pic that was posted on Drudge?
Santorum said he a few minutes to take his child to the pool. Hannity teased him about not being fit for a swimsuit pic and he took in fun.
Shows you example of Santorum’s good character.
