PFLUGERVILLE, TX - A Pflugerville teenager is spending Tuesday night in the Travis County jail. Police said she brought a loaded gun to school Tuesday. It is the second scare on that campus in a couple of weeks.

Police arrested 17-year-old Shonteisha Hobbs shortly before classes began at Pflugerville High School. Investigators said she had a 9 mm handgun. They would not say how many rounds were in the gun, but they did confirm, "The firearm was loaded," said William Edwards, the Pflugerville ISD Chief of Police.

Two students tipped off police. They reported seeing Hobbs with the handgun at school.

"It was obviously displayed for the students where they were able to describe it as a handgun," said Edwards.

After Hobbs' arrest classes went on as scheduled. That included taking the STAAR test. Parents we spoke to were thankful for the quick reaction by students and campus police.

"We all remember Columbine and Virginia," said David Hufstedler, who has one student attending Pflugerville High School. "I think these are just instances we have to deal with nowadays. I think the best way to handle that is be prepared and have a plan of action.

Too bad the parents didn't pay more attention in school and learn english. You can't pronounce names phonetically when spelled this way, and have the sound match the intended pronunciation. Also, is it i before e except when preceded by t? Were they on drugs when making up these names? I laugh when I here them.

Though the ironic thing is that if students were armed they could prevent future Columbine attacks. Just a little thought.

When I left Austin in the early 90's, Pflugerville was a sleepy little town where the old folks sat on their front porch swings.

There's something happening here What it is ain't exactly clear...

The most ironic thing is that there was a deputy that confronted the perps...and he ran and called for backup because he was outgunned(they fired at him and scared him)...we used to be able to protect ourselves.

Was she wearing a hoody?

Did they profile her?

Does she look like Obama’s transexual son?

Knew an African American gal who couldn’t wait until she turned 18 so she could change here name. She grew up tough and saw the world as it is (ie, wasn’t a lib).

Why did she want to change her name? It was Female, pronounced “fem-al-e.”

She was also a genetic anomoly. WAY smarter than anyone else in her immediate family, esp her truly useless parents.

/not a joke

The same could be said of the name “Pflugerville.” I don’t know the correct pronunciation, but I’ll bet it’s a good way loosen up a stubborn phlegmball.

When I was young, my next-door neighbors were a black family. They named their daughters Marvenus and Uranus. That's not so bad, right? Well, their last name was Burns (think about it, Uranus Burns). True, I kid you not. Bet she wanted to change her name when she grew up.
