Shame on those who hate lawyers - those who hate lawyers hate law - and without law there is no chance of freedom and security.
With that said, lawyers are the very reason we find ourselves in the situation we are now in. Due to them, we have lost our freedoms and security (the ability to protect our lives and property).
All laws ever written were written by lawyers, for lawyers, and for guaranteed lawyer business. For example: The Americans With Disability Act. It opened a virtual cornucopia of new laws that ensured a whole new world of business through lawsuits.
The list goes on and on and on, with each year even more laws and regulations are enacted to ensure even more business for the law industry.
Stop and think; how many hundreds of millions has the legal profession made so far in the fiasco called Obamacare? And, there is still a lot more to come.
Want to see a sample of what I am saying? Open your telephone book and go to the yellow pages under: Attorneys, lawyers, and legal services and you will readily find out.
I am looking at my town’s phone book and on the front page it has an advertisement for The law offices of Thomas J. Henry. On the back page it has a full page ad for the same attorney. The entire white pages consist of only 76 pages while the yellow pages for lawyers consists of 75 law advertisements placed on 12 pages. The entire telephone book is .4 inches thick.
When I was a boy back in the 50’s, we only had my father and 5 other lawyers in this immediate area. Now, look at it!
Don’t tell me how they are saving our freedoms...they are feeding on the harvest of new laws they enable with each passing year.
Your analysis is so irrational.
The good laws were also written by lawyers.
Lawyers cannot simply show up and enact laws and appoint themselves as judges. Elections matter. If the electorate chooses to send bad lawyers to Washington to write bad laws and appoint bad judges, then shame on the electorate.
Its fun and easy to scapegoat - and utterly lacking in virtue and traditional conservative principals.
“Its a republic if you can keep it” was a warning - the people have not heeded it and have instead - in your estimation - apparently chosen bad lawyers to make the law. Of course we all know that the people elected Clinton and Obama - both bad lawyers - as president.
According to your logic, businessmen also deserve across-the-board condemnation because there are more businessmen than lawyers in the current U.S. House of Representatives.
175 Representatives in the current House are businessmen, but only
168 Representatives in the current House are lawyers.
I won’t condemn businessmen, however, because like lawyers, businessmen are the bedrock of American values.
Freedom requires lawyers.
Capitalism requires businessmen.
Free market capitalism requires both.
