I think a lot of folks on this thread are reading this as “corporal punishment” and not “sexual abuse”. After school, alone with the girl, high school age girl - this isn’t about corporal punishment it’s about some creep getting off over this sick fantasy.
Her father should have shown up at school with a shotgun.

It’s about both, actually. He got off on corporally punishing the girl.
Although in his defense, if he were instead teaching in Florida or one of the other states where corporal punishment is still allowed in the schools—including the upper grades—he could have routinely spanked high school girls and it would have been seen as perfectly legitimate. He just would have had to use a paddle instead of a belt.
I'm by no means a helicopter Mom. I'm known on the block as the "mean" Mom; I say what I mean and I mean what I say.
My kids also know that they don't have to fear the principal; they have to fear what I'll do to them when they get home. Unlike some heathens running the streets, my kids are respectful, helpful, hard working, and God-fearing.

In that case, you should be home schooling your kids.
I'm not against spanking; I've used it, when I had to, in very limited instances with the 3-swat rule. I only get to smack your bottom (and only your bottom) 3 times. If you aren't crying, I didn't hit you hard enough. Usually, they are crying at the mere threat of a spanking, because it's rare.
Overall, I've been blessed with some really good kids. They want to please. Plenty of folks have complimented my kids on their good manners. When they get out of line, all I have to do is say, "One...!" They know what happens when I get to Three. All disruptive behavior stops by one.
That being said, my husband and I know how to discipline our kids. Got a problem with any of them, tell us and we, as their parents, will fix it.
No one messes with my kids. Mess with them, and you're messing with me. That's presuming my husband doesn't get to you first.
I did, for several years. They are, thankfully, older now.
High School? Even I didn’t get whacked after Jr. High and that was a couple of years ago.
