A five-year-old girl is thought to have become the UK's youngest victim of forced marriage.
She was one of 400 children to receive assistance from the government's Forced Marriage Unit in the last year.
The figures have emerged as the public consultation into criminalising forced marriage in England, Wales and Northern Ireland comes to an end.
Amy Cumming, joint head of the Forced Marriage Unit, said 29% of the cases it dealt with last year involved minors.
"The youngest of these was actually five years old, so there are children involved in the practice across the school age range," she said.
To protect the child, the authorities have not disclosed details of the case or where the marriage took place.

I respect your wishes, but to leave out islam is to look away from the truth, I think your effort to help these folks is wonderful, but we cannot be so weak that we cannot point to what the issues are in the name of offending them...I know a few muslim folks and they have the same viewpoint, its mt religion don’t run it down, as I tell them I respect their right to believe as they wish..after years of talking we can speak honestly about the differences, I am brutal about Mohamm, and what I consider to be the lies that enslaved a billion souls without God being at the end of the tunnel, and he says Christianity is fake, I have enjoyed the honest brutal discussions...we have to be honest to solve the issues...oh well..

As referred to previously, I had 3 months in Thailand, looking into child prostitution (sometimes I hate my job!). A good 90% of their “clients” were supposed Christians from the USA or from Europe.

I don't doubt for a minute that "every culture has these scum". I read of babies still in diapers being raped, right here in our own country but it isn't encouraged, normalized by a religion, or socially approved of and it's illegal.
Yes, I know that it is fairly common in Thailand to have child prostitutes and they have plenty of customers from all over the world, at that I believe it's still illegal even there. Maybe the laws aren't enforced enough though.
I'm talking about a religion that teaches or approves of a 5 year old being forced to marry. There may be another that I don't know about but Islam is the only one I can think of off hand and forced marriage of children is what this article speaks of.

Sex with children is illegal in Thailand. The trade mostly exists because of tourists who go there for that purpose.

The fundamental difference is that our culture condemns it, while Islamic culture celebrates it. This means that the occurrence in their culture cannot help but be much higher.
One issue with Islamic culture is the concept of bride-price (mahr), where the prospective husband is supposed to hand over an amount of wealth to the wife (in actuality, the wife's father). A non-virgin commands a far-lower price, which provides an incentive to get the girl married off before adolescence.

Nowhere except in muslim countries will you find incidents like this. And yet we have examples like this throughout the muslim world... Look up Aneela and Saba Younas for instance... Islam is the problem. Always has been, always will be, no matter the time or place. What you are seeing is the inevitable result of the muslim mass migration to our countries.
I hope you have taken note in your life that no-one is born Christian or becomes a Christian through ethnicity or even through church attendance or saying they are a Christian outwardly in the attempt to impress others. A true follower of Christ's teachings is most likely a needle in a haystack -- someone who has made a heartfelt, private conversion alone with the Lord.
I would venture a guess that only one-tenth or fewer of so-called adherents to ANY religion actually understand and attempt to follow their own scriptures. Same goes with critics of religions -- they criticize the flawed humans rather than actually reading the words of scripture to make an informed evaluation of the religion itself. (And now, with the fascist movement to criminalize critical evaluation of Islam, it will be increasingly difficult to do so.)
Religion does not and cannot make people perfect or sinless. The best it can offer is a humility (knowing that everyone falls short), an attitude of forgiveness towards one's fellow man (in that none of us is perfect), and repentance realized privately in prayer (whether one goes formally to confession or not).

The story just depressed me badly - I tend to be pretty primal when it comes to kids, protect them or die trying level, so this sort of thing drives me up the wall.
