Rep. Paul Ryan endorses Mitt Romney
The Hill ^ | March 30, 2012 | Justin Sink

Posted on 03/30/2012 5:23:23 AM PDT by true believer forever

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) is expected to endorse Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney before Wisconsin's GOP primary next Tuesday, according to media reports.

Ryan would be the latest in a string of high-profile endorsements for Romney this week, as party leaders have increasingly coalesced around the former Massachusetts governor's campaign. The Wisconsin lawmaker would join popular freshman Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and former president George H. W. Bush in signaling support for Romney this week.

The Tea Party has become watered down and weak. Guess they were bought and paid for with Romney’s Super Pac money.

Govern from the right? Romney is going to pull a “McCain,” and you can take that to the bank.

His campaign has already admitted that he'll shake off all those "far right" positions he took during the primary.

Simple fact is that Romney will land somewhere between Hilary Clinton and Barrack Obama. Add guys like McCain and Graham and we won't even be slowing the slide into socialism.

Before anyone suggests that we could nominate someone conservative after a single Romney term, I just want to go on the record for calling them an idiot now.

“There is a difference between a Rino and a hard core Marxist radical. “

Romney will refuse to change the way DC does business. The only difference is that his czars(and there now IS precedence) will be multimillionaires—no one of substance for the simple peasants. By the next election, people will be so disgusted that it will, once again, be a democratic House, Senate and presidency—and no one to stop the final act of the destruction of the US.

I’ll say it again, these people are not real conservatives: Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul, etc.

I had high hopes for Paul Ryan, but when I saw him voting with Boehner, I knew he’s a RINO in conservative clothing. This endorsement comes as no surprise.

OTOH, Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and Ted Poe are the real deal.

It is NOT time to “coalesce” around a RINO nominee. Think 2010. We the People have a say, and it’s time to show this once again to Paul Ryan, et al.

exactly, I agree, only this endorsement does come as a surprise to me, as did DeMint's.

RE "It is NOT time to “coalesce” around a RINO nominee. Think 2010. We the People have a say, and it’s time to show this once again to Paul Ryan, et al." -- This is nothing more than a line-in-the-sand moment, and the people who walk away from fighting against Romney were looking for a reason to stop fighting or jumping on board the romney bandwagon anyway.

So if Obama goes on to win because you won’t vote for Romney who’s fault is that? If you are in a strong blue state or strong red state your protest vote or not vote is no big deal. But if you are in a battleground state the blood of the death of this country will be on your hands.

“Oh where have you gone Tea Party, where have you gone?”

Regardless of what everyone states about the Tea Party, that it is not one person (which is true), they do need a leader to inspire the party.....Like her or not, Palin brings attention and excitement to a race like no one including Obama......We are going to lose this election, it’s not Palin’s fault, but I think everyone would have been more energized with her involvement.....It’s a damn shame........I really think she had a shot if she would have run......Romney?...ARE YOU KIDDING?......Santorum?...Would vote for him if he were to get the nomination......Newt?.....Would vote for him too, but I don’t think his nomination will happen.....And all these TEA PARTY a@@holes who were bought off to endorse Romney: Haley, Rubio, ect. make me puke......

That’s nothing more than wishful thinking. Once he attains office, he can do as he pleases. Romney will govern to the left; that is simply his nature.

Conservatives want Reagan. The HIGHLIGHT REEL Reagan. Not a candidate with a blemish here or less than perfect record there, which was Reagan, and would be Palin, Newt, Cain, Perry, and lots of others that would have run if we didnt have such a stick up our rears sometimes.

I'm not gonna vote for anyone who has EVER done ANYTHING that I didn't like EVER at some point in their previous 30-year career in politics!

You know, a very wise Freeper, and I wish I could remember their name, because it made a great impact on me, once said: Fully 90% of the politicians that go to Washington are corrupted and co-opted in their first year, and that is the rate for the Tea Party, also. The last 10%, it takes a few more years - think deMint.

(1) Ryan isn't as smart as he'd like for you to believe.

(2) Ryan and his buddies imagine it's possible to win a Presidential election without volunteer "GET OUT THE VOTE" folks. That particular theory is the primary reason why Romney really has had a tough time getting 50% except in captive areas with large numbers of Mormons. (or where MIttbots have flat out cheated).

(3) He's in fear of the Gadianton warriors.

You should probably direct this question to those that voted for Romney in the primaries. The only problem is, no one on this forum voted for him, so you probably won’t find out the real reason by asking freepers.

It is self-serving. Nothing more.

I prefer to think it is pragmatism. We know Romney is going to be the candidate. We need to a) get him elected and b) when he is POTUS, surround him with sound, capable people like Ryan who just might prevent him from becoming Obama II. Obama surrounded himself with marxist "tsars" and look what we got. It would be much better for all of us and the nation if Romney surrounded himself with people like Ryan. Just maybe we could steer the ship off the looming rocks.

I have to admit, I'm fresh out of gracious defeats.

But I've got a barrel full of going third party and/or destroying the GOP, if for no other reason than to not let the GOP-E think they can get away with playing this game again.

And people, spare me the "then you're just voting for OBAMA!!!!!" garbage. As far as I can see, there is little substantive difference between Obama and Romney. If you want me to vote for your candidate, then you're going to have to do better than cheap theatrical scare tactics about another four years of Obama, because four years of Romney would be about the same.

Some people aren’t happy unless they’re unhappy. I suspect a year or two into the new Obama admin, these folks will gleefully proclaim that they wrote in... (Palin, Santorum, Gingrich). They “stayed true” to their beliefs.

Then they’ll get ready for the evening brown out, as electricity will be in short supply due to the cut back of the coal industry. And they’ll plug in their government authorized electric vehicle, hoping the power comes back in time for them to get enough of a charge to go to work.

Enjoy!

I think the GOPe set this up early on now we're left hanging.

How did they set it up?

From the outset, Romney was touted as "the frontrunner" and "likely nominee". In the very first debates it was all Romney all the time with his hour-long rebuttals every time his name was mentioned. The media was all about his money and organization that the others lacked. It was from all sides and continues to be.

Pair that with Romney's negative brutal attacks on the other candidates and you come up with a "frontrunner" eventually. And what a shame! I'd kill for Perry, Bachman, or Cain to still be in the race.

Ditto. And how can people expect weak sister Boehner to draw a line in the sand, when they can’t hold one themselves.

No more Sacred Honor around here? When I think of those freezing soldiers with bleeding feet at Valley Forge and see the lack of courage and determination around me, I can’t help but ask, “What have we become?” Don’t we owe something to the memory of those soldiers? Don’t we owe the dead GIs on Omaha Beach? Don’t we owe our fellow Americans serving in Afghanistan?

What gutless wonders we are!

But it doesn’t matter. The Obama machine will crush Romney in November and then he will become dictator.

It’s not a matter of me whining and complaining. I’m facing reality. This is what will happen. We should have faced this reality a long time ago. Now it’s too late.

Is this the result of an Obama victory? or a Romney victory? Seems like a horse-a-piece to me. If I vote 3rd party in November, you can be unhappy at me for doing so. And that unhappiness will make you happy right? Because then it's not your fault that we have brown-outs, etc.
