Senate Republican staffers continue to look though the 2010 health care reform law to see whats in it, and their latest discovery is a massive $17 trillion funding gap.
The more we learn about the bill, the more we learn it is even more unaffordable than was suspected, said Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the Republicans budget chief in the Senate.
The bill has to be removed from the books because we dont have the money, he said.
The hidden shortfall between new spending and new taxes was revealed just after Supreme Court justices grilled the laws supporters about its compliance with the Constitutions limits on government activity. If the court doesnt strike down the law, it will force taxpayers find another $17 trillion to pay for the increased spending.
The $17 trillion in extra promises was revealed by an analysis of the laws long-term requirements. The additional obligations, when combined with existing Medicare and Medicaid funding shortfalls, leaves taxpayers on the hook for an extra $82 trillion in health care obligations over the next 75 years.

$1000 bills exist. They are just no longer in circulation.
assuming there is very little compression from the weight of the money
The math relies on .0043 inches, the thickness of a US paper note.
I doubt very seriously that 100% of Freepers would’ve voted for Ronald Reagan given all of his “faults.”
This bill is pure treason.
Nop, wasn't 100 percent - was 96% - the other four percent were self described 'libertarian.'
Can U say."Cloward-Piven?"
Now that we’ve found out what’s in the bill, somebody get a rope....
Isn’t that the GDP of the entire world?
googolplex — one followed by a googol (10 to the 100) of zeros...
Obamacare... the gift that just keeps taking.
It doesn't really matter because when it gets to that point, the exchange rate will be in cans of beans and Bic lighters. And that truth comes from someone who lived through it in Bosnia.
Your probably right about that. We seem to have unusually high standards theses days. Very much unrealistic given our current situation.
The US GDP is $14.6 Trillion. That means the bill is short by more than the entire amount of money the economy generates in a year.
That is like going to the grocery store for the month and spending $1000 but your income is only $500. And, you didn’t buy any gas, pay rent, nothing.
After a while, you would run out of overdraws to go to the grocery store and then you starve and die.
You mean that divorced Hollywood movie star? The 'self righteous' and Rick would be beside themselves.
LOL!! Good one!
Only a true Catholic saint, complete with holy miracle granted by G-d himself, is worthy of our vote. Any who do not meet this criteria is a demonspawn of SATAN and must be purged from existence.
There is no saint running - you need to change the channel or go back in your hole, you’ve been duped!
Looks like I forgot the [sarc] tag on my post.
I agree with your post... and was channeling the Saint Santorum supporter’s logic.
Clearly, the healthcare bill only had one goal in mind from the beginning...
Overload the system, and over-regulate private enterprise to the point of nationwide economic collapse.
It was NEVER about health care.
