Unless Martin’s killer, George Zimmerman, had reason to believe that Martin was armed, shooting him was a grossly disproportionate response to a fistfight, even leaving aside the fact that Zimmerman had initiated the encounter.

Martin started the violence, and a witness said he was slamming Zimmerman's head into to the ground, IIRC. Concrete would explain the lacerations supposedly on the back of Zimmerman's head. Regardless, I posted the essay for the stunning statistics.

Why manipulate and exploit this event?

It’s called community organizin’. That’s what they do. And to think the community organizer-in-chief has done his part — in spades.

I find these articles interesting from so many commentators, who say we shouldn’t rush to judgement, but then start out like this article, claiming that deadly force was not necessary in this case.

The guy was having his head beat on the pavement. If someone is beating my head into the pavement, and I have a gun, I am going to use it to stop my head from being bashed into the pavement. If that results in the death of my assailant, so be it.

There are questions about what happened up to that point. Maybe that is what these articles are referring too. But once Martin had Zimmerman on the ground, and was bashing his brains out, the dynamic changed, as gaining the upper hand based on strength, and then using that strength to cause head injuries to your opponent, that is the definition of deadly force. A gun is not required to project deadly force. Neither is a knife. No, we humans can do that with our bare hands, and I firmly belive T.M. was doing that the night he met his maker.

Zimmerman initiated contact and Martin bashed his head against the sidewalk and broke Zimmerman’s nose for doing so - I’d say that was ‘a grossly disproportionate response’ in and of itself, regardless of what else happened. But let’s not talk about that. Details don’t matter in this case.

I take it you haven’t read what Martin’s girlfriend said about the conversation over the phone right before Martin confronted Zimmerman.

Trayvon tried to grab Mr. Zimmerman's gun. Those trained in the use of a pistol do not put their finger on the trigger while withdrawing the weapon, unless they enjoy shooting themselves in the foot.

The dirty little secret is that Trayvon shot himself. Mr. Zimmerman wasn't pulling the gun to fire at Trayvon at all, and is unlikely to have had his finger on the trigger, especially if he was in a tug of war with it.

” Every American shares the despair of Martin’s family over this heartbreaking tragedy”

Ah, NO!

“Color” or “Race” are irrelevant, if anyone were to try to beat me, and try to take my gun from me, telling me I would die that night, they would also be shot.

From what I have read Mr. Zimmerman’s major blunder was allowing a “suspicious person” to get too close to him.
It seems he should have put some distance between them, and to have had a grip on his gun in case the situation deteriorated.
Allowing the “Suspicious person” to get close enough to punch him was a tactical mistake, but one even veteran cops have been known to make.
Those same cops have also been known to shoot their assailant in order to preserve their own lives.

This is clearly a manufactured “Crises” after the fact, legitimate outrage would have been immediate.

From what I have read the cops did their job, the evidence backs Zimmerman, end of (legitimate) story.

The fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last month by a neighborhood-watch volunteer was a sickening and — unless new facts come to light — unjustified loss of an innocent life. Unless Martin’s killer, George Zimmerman, had reason to believe that Martin was armed, shooting him was a grossly disproportionate response to a fistfight, even leaving aside the fact that Zimmerman had initiated the encounter.

Shut up, bitch.

If Zimmerman is a “white hispanic” then Oblamer is a “white black,” right?

This is getting too comical.

Shut up, bitch.

See comment# 14. I guess I should have left out the first paragraph and excerpted the statistics.

I’ve noticed more than a little of this cowardice on behalf of conservative commentators.

There seems to be a need to take cover behind a statement that casts this as “a tragedy”. Even worse are the statements to the effect that Zimmerman must be a bad man to even be in a situation where it was possible for him to have to shoot Martin in self defense.

I can understand the fear that leads to hiding behind such drivel in the current climate, but I can’t condone it.

The most likely scenario based on physical evidence and the statements of witnesses indicates that Martin got exactly what he deserved, but you can’t say that in public.
