Earth Hour is tonight at 8:30 PM local time!
Backyard Tire Fire!
I thought it wasn’t until 4/22. Guess I’ll have to fire up both vehicles for an hour and crank up the heat to 80, fire up the clothes dryer, turn on my amps, all the tv’s, radios, cd players and all the lights this evening. CO2 for everybody! Woo Hoo! Keepin’t it warm for mankind. That’s what I’m talking about! (Maybe 4/22 is Earf day.)
I won’t be cooperating. I’m not “into” symbolism.
But the AC is still getting maxed tonight.
I’ll have full loads of laundry washing and drying.
same here...& my dishwasher!
These “conservation efforts” are thinly veiled attempts to get us to lower our standard of living; they are reminiscent of Imperial Germany’s “days of fasting” during WWI, which were an attempt to deal with their chronic food shortages.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll make it a point to be on Earth at 8:30 tonight.
Whoop-de-do!! Turn everything on!!
I plan to let my Papillon catch a few squirrels and BBQ them on an open fire during Earth Hour.
Spew some SO2
OMG, it’s Erf Hour. OMG. OMG. OMG. Erf Hour. OMG.
All the lights will be on, will do laundry and dishes, TV’s all on, and plug in the electric guitar and electric mandolin and make heck of a racket. Oh, and the router, air compressor, and Christmas lights.
OMG, OMG, Erf hour.
Maybe light a fire in the firepit and sit around it with a couple of home brewskis, ya think?
My Mr. Heater will be celebrating for several hours tonight.
People who don’t use a clothes lines for all or at least part of their laundry have no business preaching to others about energy use!
Wish I still had a 2 stroke motorcycle. It would be a blast to do a smokey wheelie past every darkened house.
My “give a da**” got busted a long time ago with respect to people who preach at me. (Particularly when they fly a single family on multiple, excessive vacations in several jets.)
All 4 AC’s are ready. All 4 47 inch LCD TV’s are ready. Plugged in two 150 watt old fashioned incandescent bulbs on the front porch and back porch. Grill ready. All 5 Computers ready. 2002 V8 Dodge Ram ready to drive around town needlessly.
Funny how the Earth Hour is on the half hour.
We have one of those electric quartz things and a kerosene heater. I had to look up “Mr. Heater.” Thanks for the education!
Well, it is rather unfortunate that earth hour coincides exactly with the time when I do my annual electrical stress test. I have a 400 amp service here and annually I have to test it to see that it can perform for a solid hour at peak. Even with every electrical appliance on, I have to bring in electrical resistance heaters to make sure that is fully loaded for the test (and if it is warm I just open the windows to avoid overheating).
Darn, “Civilization Hour” is on at the same time. Which to choose...
I have a 69 Dodge Polara with a 4 barrel 383, and an 83 Eldorado! Who can burn more fossil fuels that I? The Polara is 428 feet long, and 3 acres wide, it gets 10 miles to the gallon and that’s hi-test. Top that!
My GF plans to shop at the mall this afternoon. Meaning her car will be driven to at least 5 malls making her carbon footprint a lot bigger. Take that manbearpig!
will rewash the 3 loads I did earlier today, just to use a little more electric ok
Thanks for the reminder.
Tonight is Human Achievement Hour.
It’s time to light your house up, run the stove, etc., and celebrate and be thankful for all of the wonderful discoveries and inventions we use and love.
This has been advertised across Canada by Sun News. Love it!
electricity appreciation hour!!
electricity appreciation hour!!
The lighting in my house is powered by 100% pure, American, high-wattage, incandescent bulbs. (Except for a 300W halogen bulb in a Torchiere Lamp by my desk.)
At 8pm tonight I will turn all of them on in honor of Earth Hour. I will turn them off at 10pm.
You may wonder, since Earth Hour is an hour long, why I’m doing this for two hours. Simple, it’s just a little extra for Earth Hour.
Oh, and should one of the bulbs burn our during Earth Hour, worry not. I have a lifetime supply of bulbs stashed away.
I understand the urge to act in opposition to idiots, and I’ll support the various activities listed.
But for us, we’ll just ignore the idiots, and continue our normal lifestyle.
Your lists may want to join in!
“Don’t forget to turn ON all of your lights and appliances! Let’s show the world our celebration of life and abundance in the 21st Century!’
Wonder how many crimes will be committed in these darkened places.
Dont forget to turn ON all of your lights and appliances! Lets show the world our celebration of life and abundance in the 21st Century!”
I’m so glad for the reminder. I LOVE this day! My celebration this year might be able to rival my 2010 celebration:)
All of my unessential lights will be on!
All of my unnecessary lights will be on!
Gee .... I can't wait! .... BTW .... if there is a sudden drain on the power grid ..... don't be alarmed .... it's only me going back before 2008 to attempt to change the outcome of the 2008 Federal Election.
Yup, me too. I’m going to do all that. I’m going to stand in front of the fridge in the kitchen and open up the big storage freezer in the pantry too.Amps, you must be a guitar player? I’m a drummer so I can’t do that at this hour but I’ll get my X-Box going too. Just a reminder FRiend, don’t go running through the house with a pair of scissors! And that goes for the rest of you out there!
