Cheney Family Spokesperson: Former VP Up and Walking

A spokesperson for the family of former Vice President Dick Cheney says he is "doing great", and is up and walking less than a week after receiving a heart transplant. Kara Ahern says Mr. Cheney has been making a lot of phone calls to family and friends.

Mr. Cheney also received a great deal of mail from people all over the country during his time at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Ahern tells Fox News, the former Vice President has been calling people he doesn't know personally, "perfect strangers", who have sent in cards and notes wishing him well. Ahern says, "most of them are shocked when he [Cheney] tells them who is calling."

I was a bit shocked at the liberal/radical reaction to Dick Cheney’s heart transplant.

But, their reaction simply proved the point made by Sarah Palin and others, that liberals DO want to see some type of “death panel” making decisions about who gets life saving surgery. They DO want to ration care, and they DO want a bureaucrat deciding if someone is worthy of certain procedures. Their reaction to Dick Cheney’s heart transplant proves that they have this mindset, that healthcare should be rationed out as liberals see fit.

They force you to get up and walk. I had an operation and asked for a urinal and was told get up and use the bathroom. The next day I asked if they could remove the morphine and the water tubes because i don’t like needles - they tossed me out of the hospital.
