Norway Murderer Wanted to Assassinate Obama

Anders Behring Breivik, the man who killed 77 people in a bloody massacre in Norway, considered assassinating President Barack Obama.

Anders Behring Breivik, the man who killed 77 people in a bloody massacre in Norway last year, considered an attempt at the life of U.S. President Barack Obama, RIA Novosti reported on Sunday, citing Norwegian media.

According to the reports, Breivik planned to kill Obama as he visited Oslo to accept his Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. The local Dagbladetnewspaper reported that Breivik wanted to kill Obama in protest of the prize, which he said is traditionally awarded to people of leftist views.

Dagbladet reported that Breivik considered disguising himself as a policeman and killing Obama by blowing up a car laden with explosives. He eventually dropped theplan as unfeasible.

Breivik murdered 77 people in his killing spree last July as part of his mad protest against Norwegian officials for not stopping what he sees as a Muslim takeover of the country.

His main target in the shooting spree was a Labor Party summer camp on an island outside of Oslo, where he killed 69 people. Eight others were killed in a car blast in downtown Oslo.

Breivik has admitted to the killings but did not plead guilty, saying his actions were a justified protest. He faces 21 years in prison if convicted.

Obama's regime and the nonfox media keeps telling us that he's a middle of the road, mainstream sort of guy.  I guess Brevik didn't get the memo.

I’d much rather deal with a bumbling idiot than the spawn of satan.

Besides, these ‘claims’ of an assassination attempt on Obama is in a bunch of B.S. I really think they sit around thinking up ways to make him more significant than he is.

Sort of like the witch Hillary whose plane was shot at in the middle east (or some such bullsh*t). Turned out to be just that: B.S.

Is Norway insane? 21 years for killing 77 people?

And that's before the dealmaking even begins.

I'd wish to politely suggest that most Norwegians aren't necessarily insane per se, it's just that this is what Socialism will do to a country.  It'll either make a nation murder hundreds of millions of people for no reason other than they present a minor political obstacle or perhaps one ethnic group slighted another ethnic group ten generations prior.....or it will make the people continually demand a massive centralized State to oversee the huge crime problem....which was made huge as a result of turning criminals such as mass murderers free in a breathtakingly short time to continually terrorize the public.

Sadly, I predict that will still happen....I sincerely hope that I'll be proven wrong, but I don't think so.

After his defeat this year, his likeness will join MLK's on the walls of countless Government agencies and homes, and anyone who dares to question why it's there will instantly be branded a racist.

Is Norway insane? 21 years for killing 77 people?...Well,yeah. But it’s cold for all those 21 years.

I'm guessing that a Norwegian murderer will be cold only if he wants to be.

The Super-Lux Super Max - An FP Slide Show - Foreign Policy

Norway's unrepentant mass killer, Anders Behring Breivik, is now under arrest. And he should count himself lucky for -- if entirely undeserving of -- a penal system in that country that is among the cushiest in the world. There's no capital punishment, and the longest jail term allowed is 21 years (a caveat: if a prisoner is deemed to still be a threat, his sentence can be extended in five-year blocks indefinitely, though it's highly unlikely, according to Norwegian officials). In Norway, rehabilitation is the guiding principle, not punishment -- a somewhat difficult notion to swallow given the gravity and callousness of his crimes.
"Both society and the individual simply have to put aside their desire for revenge, and stop focusing on prisons as places of punishment and pain," one Norwegian prison official told the Daily Mail. "Depriving a person of their freedom for a period of time is sufficient punishment in itself without any need whatsoever for harsh prison conditions."
Norway's newest jail may hold rapists and murderers, but Halden Prison -- the country's second largest and most secure facility -- looks more like a posh sleepaway camp. In fact, architects say they purposely tried to avoid an "institutional feel." When it opened in 2010, some news accounts called it the "most humane" prison in the world.
Indeed, one of the many perks at Halden is flat-screen televisions in inmates' rooms. There's no HBO, though, so reruns of Oz and The Wire are contraband. Still, prisoners get private cells with mini-fridges and large windows to let in more sunlight. Here, then, is a quick tour of what luxuries may await Breivik behind bars. (That's a figure of speech, of course: There are no iron bars at Halden.)

Prisoners spend a lot of time out of their cells; exercise is encouraged. And in Halden, not only is there clean air but personal trainers. Here, a comely woman coach jogs alongside an inmate in the prison yard. According to Time magazine, the prison is spread over 75 acres "of gently sloping forest.… To avoid an institutional feel, exteriors are not concrete but made of bricks, galvanized steel and larch; the buildings seem to have grown organically from the woodlands."

Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison? Please. At Halden, the inmates can form their own band. And what's more, they can lay down an album in the prison's professional recording studio.

The well-stocked library at Halden contains not only books but magazines, CDs, and DVDs. What? No Crime and Punishment audiobook?

Inmates share common kitchens and living rooms. Some common areas are designated as places where both inmates and guards can meet and mingle -- or, you know, just hang out.

The prison boasts a state-of-the-art gym, complete with a rock-climbing wall. No word yet on whether there's a class on tunneling.

Guards don't carry guns and are encouraged to be outgoing and friendly toward the inmates -- they eat together and play sports in mixed teams to create a sense of family, according to officials. The Longest Yard this ain't.

No gold teeth among Halden's inmates. Not with free dental checkups.

An inmate in his private bathroom -- one of many amenities that make Halden feel more like a college dorm than a prison.

Nothing says rehabilitation like rhythm. Here, prisoners and their instructor get down during a music class.

An inmate learns to ride a unicycle in the prison gym. Seriously.

Dolk, a Norwegian Banksy-style graffiti artist, was commissioned to create art for the prison -- at a price tag of $1 million.

But - they are REALLY tough on drunk drivers (well, if you call 0.02% drunk!).

“A few months ago, police stopped a 49-year-old business man. They found his blood-alcohol level to be well over Norway’s legal limit of 0.02 percent. Yesterday, a court there cited the man’s personal wealth of more than $30 million, and the court ordered him to pay $109,000 as a drunk-driving penalty - almost his entire annual income.”

IIRC, after a few offenses you lose your license and the ability of ANYONE in your family to own a car - forever.

Hey, at least that guy watching television in the fifth picture down has a good steel cup to drag against the bars...

Indeed, quite a stylish cup.  Probably an expensive designer brand, and holding an adult beverage.  I would suggest that there are MANY middle-class Americans who do not have most or perhaps even any of the amenities shown....including attractive female 'guards' who are 'encouraged' to socialize with them.

If rehabilitation is the goal, I confess that I don't understand what motivates a criminal to 'want' to become rehabilitated in an environment like this.  I'm guessing that the conditions in this 'prison' are far better than what they're accustomed to at home as well.

They can impugn harsh treatment as "revenge" all they like, but Society deserves to know that those who have violated the rules of a civilized culture understand that there is a penalty for doing so.  I see no penalty here, only lavish benefits, rewarding those who have often done utterly depraved, unspeakable things to decent people.

Although I agree and applaud your sentiment, I believe that in reality it is the American people who will be serving life sentences of a sort as a result of what he's done.  Lifetime upon lifetime, generation upon generation paying back the trillions of known and currently unknown dollars squandered, fraudulently spent or simply wasted; brave servicemen and women needlessly killed and maimed as a direct result of Obama's cuts to our military and military tech R & D, and with the rest of us being subjected to endless book tours, speeches, "appearances" and "news" paper articles about or by him, all attempting to recast him as a 'misunderstood saint' that America had been Blessed with but didn't appreciate enough because we're all racists.

And that's not even considering the possibly permanent damage he's done to so many aspects of the economy and culture as well as America's image in the world.

"sigh"
