EPA: 'Ask If You Can Work From Home' to Save Energy By Susan Jones April 2, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - Earth Day has morphed into "Earth Month" at the Environmental Protection Agency, which is offering Americans daily tips on how to reduce their "carbon footprint."

The tip for April 1 -- April Fool's Day, but it's no joke -- suggests leaving your car at home twice a week, something that will cut greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 pounds a year, the EPA says.

"If you commute to work, ask if you can work from home at least some days, and you'll reduce air pollution and traffic congestion -- and save money," the EPA adds.

The work-at-home advice comes as EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson is working far from home.

She arrived in Paris on March 28 to meet with environmental leaders from more than 40 nations to discuss the EPA's international efforts on "urban sustainability," an EPA news release said.

The EPA said Jackson was scheduled to represent to United States at a panel discussion on Friday, March 30 -- the only agenda item noted in the news release. As of April 2, the EPA had not said anything further about that event – or about any other government business Jackson may be conducting during her time in Paris.

On its Earth Day website, the EPA offers a long list of what-you-should-do to protect the environment.

Where can I find out the EPA’s policy on employee telecommuting?

I’d be willing to telecommute, if I could.

I wouldn’t be doing it to save energy, but because I could then work in a matter I like and not have any boss or co-worker looking over my shoulder.

So the representative had to fly to Paris to tell the rest of us to use less oil? Makes perfect sense.

By the way I commute 5.6 miles each way by bike. Glad the left takes the lead in these matters.

I work from home 2-3 days per week and I probably use a lot more energy at home than I would at work.

This assumes you drive to work.

In my case, the PATH train runs from New York to New Jersey whether I’m on it or not. I save energy by not walking to the station, but then burn it up by going to the gym during the lunch hour.

Everything must be wonderful when all you have to worry about is your carbon footprint. Why am I not feeling reassured? Rome burns; Nero fiddles on.

STEP ONE: Mandate that every government worker whose job can be done at home must telecommute.

STEP TWO: Outsource those jobs to India at 25% of the cost.

“Working” at the EPA: Sitting on your @$$, gazing at your navel, blue-skying ideas about how to “save the planet.”

In other words, a complete waste of oxygen.

1,600 pounds? If you're driving an A1 Abrams tank back and forth and decide to leave it in the drive way for 104 days of the year.

Liberal Logic actually heard: "Imagine if everyone were to own a Volt. Americans could drive twice as much as they do now and it would be good for the environment and the economy."

If we went back to horse and buggy and did away with electricity, we wouldn't even be able measure the difference in atmospheric CO2 concentration.

blue-skying ideas

That is the first time I have seen that term used in connection to the environmental nonsense, but that's what all this alternative energy crap is: blue sky. The kind of wishful thinking that has no actual value in the business world.

If President Barack Hussein Obama Jr. would stay home and work, instead of firing up Air Force one and all the support vehicles he needs we could save a bundle for the EPA, but then one would have to think he actually works.....

Ask if you can go on welfare and never go anywhere to save on gas.

No matter how you spin it, Earth Day is still just a disguised version of Comrade Lenin’s Birthday celebration.
It’s a COMMIE holiday.

My head's going to explode!

I was speechless and in mixed company. I said nothing and realized drool had started to pool on my bottom lip. I could feel intelligence being drained from my brain as the expanding inter-dimmensional bubble of sucking stupidity slowly enveloped me. I ran for my wits.

A few weeks ago, Obama said that he wanted to see us spending less on gas instead of saying that he wanted the price of gas to be lower. My immediate thought was they would somehow start dictating what a reasonable commuting distance was and impose strict fines if you live too far from work. I wouldn’t put it past these people.

I deliver milk to area supermarkets.

The idea of not having to fight the traffic 3 days a week sounds good to me.(/S)

If I work from home 5 days a week that would be better and I cut my carbon tire tracks even more.
