I wouldn’t say that it is race relations that is irreparable, instead it is a cultural devide that IS irreparable. I am happily friends with any black person that is conservative, however I despise the urban thug culture that is prevelant in black communities. My black friends also despise that behaviour, which gives us a common cultural connection and is outside of race.
To the urban thug culture participants, that defines race, so to them the racial divide is growing. To normal Americans, it is a cultural problem.

I don't really know if some have anything to say to each other any more.
Too much screaming and shouting and too many "Reverend" Al types to even try something like that on much but a one-on-one between neighbors, then only with folks who've got enough of a PERSONAL history with each other that the stereotypes don't get counted and absolutely no media or politicians allowed near the place.
Maybe enough of that and we can go to a Townhall format, but I'm beginning to think that'll be a task for my great-grandkids.
