Rick Santorum predicted Monday on the eve of the Wisconsin primary that he may sneak in and have an upset.
We feel good that were going to have a good result here in Wisconsin were going to have a strong showing, maybe even sneak in and have an upset, Santorum said from Green Bay, Wis., in an interview with Fox News. But either way, well have a strong showing in the face of obviously overwhelming money and overwhelming establishment support [for Romney].
The former Pennsylvania senator, who is trailing Romney in the delegate race, was dismissive of the increasing GOP establishment support for his rival.
I think hes been saying that for a long, long time, Santorum said of Romneys most recent predictions that he will be the eventual Republican nominee. And were still here. We just won the last state by 23 points. For someone whos the eventual nominee thats and by the way, being outspent, and being outspent pretty everywhere we go and yet were still hanging in there.
He added, The establishment is trying to shove Mitt Romney down the throats of conservatives and tea party folks and hopefully theyll stand up and say, Nope, the message of 2010 is just as viable now and we need a strong conviction principled conservative.
The most recent poll shows Romney leading Santorum in Wisconsin by 7 percentage points, while another survey last week showed the same gap between the two. (Snip)

Well, absolutely, Santorum said when asked if he will win that race. No question about it.
LOL! The fantasy just gets deeper with every passing day.
I thought you wanted to stop Romney so that we would have a brokered convention? If you want that to happen somebody has to win some of these states other than Romney.
So why pick on the guy?
He is deluded.
The mass fantasy is that Romney is a conservative.
I think you are Ann Coulter. This piece you posted is what a normal person campaigning would say.
They rarely go out and say, “hey, I am not delusional, we ain’t gonna win and we ain’t gonna try”. yee hah
That said, you didn’t answer my question on this thread or the other thread by the way.
That could very well happen. Voter apathy on the Romney side because of “inevitably” might result in a lower turnout and a Santorum victory. It’s not “delusional” to say that could happen. Of course, there are at least equal odds that the reverse will happen. I’m still hoping to stop Mittens. Call me “delusional” all you want, but I’m not quite ready to give up all hope.
I think there are a bunch of freepers here who suddenly are hidden Mittbots, either that or they secretly wish for him to win.
Romney is in this for his own self gratification. I merely report the fact. All four left have big egos.
Doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of Santorum. Fact is, if you want to get to a brokered convention, you have to stop Romney.
If you indeed do want to stop Romney, tearing down the opposition is not exactly in your best interest or the best interest of conservatives.

FReepmail Antoninus to be added or removed.
“I think there are a bunch of freepers here who suddenly are hidden Mittbots, either that or they secretly wish for him to win.”
I wonder how many are in common with the “Zimmerman is GUILTY!” bots...
The is primary season proves the exact reason it is difficult to beat back socialism. Becoming very difficult for the “tea party” types to unite behind a guy to defeat the establishment’s guy. Now some are convinced otherwise that Romney is high and mighty.
Don't worry about “voter apathy”. There is a low turn out for every Primary on all sides. And you might want to reframe your definition of “hope”.
You had better “hope” that Santorum does not win, and does the right thing and drops out so we can build a strong offense around a solid candidate to go against Obama.
If this struggle continues much longer, Obama will walk away with it again, because our side of incurably weak and chaotic. That impression alone, will have a major effect on how the ignorant American public votes for a candidate.
And who do you envision that being, if there is not a brokered convention?
Oh...no...I’m so scared. Obama might win a second term! Guess what? The odds of that are just as high if we nominate the GOP’s version of John Kerry as if we fight it to the convention. If you want to back the liberal flip-flopper from Mass., go ahead, but don’t expect me to hop on your bandwagon out of fear of Obama.

We do not have to stop Romney. In doing so now, we stop ourselves in the process. NO, our main and only need at the moment, is to stop OBAMA.
Of course Romney is not the greatest candidate we have had, but we can deal with him. His promises to us are too deeply committed for him to betray what he says he will do. There are too many people like us who will hold him to it.
And the first thing we need to do to stop this, is remove Obama from office, not guarantee his second term with a candidate who will lose. If we drag this out any further, that alone will be a threat to us winning.
Like Ryan and company now say, a brokered convention would be a disaster, which leads me to reframe my former thinking. I can plainly see where they are coming from and have to admit, they are right. And since Newt is no longer even a remote possibility, either now or if a brokered convention is forced, we have run out of logical options.
People of Wisconsin and Maryland, an Media wants you to believed Mitt will win for America and for Obama!
Then vote Romney. He seem like he is your type of guy.
They accounted for nearly 10% of the vote in Michigan, which of course were radical Obama voters trying to upset our primary.
But since Santorum has put his foot in his mouth countless times since, Santorum is much better known now than he was over a month ago.
There is always a remote possibility of anything happening, but Romney has a very comfortable lead, and has kept if for several weeks now, unlike previous states. I think we will see a result similar to what the polls predict.
Rush Limbaugh said today that if it’s all over, why is Santorum still getting attacked?
Why are you still pounding on Santorum, and calling his supporters deluded, if it’s all over?
You’re looking very much like a Romneybot, and it isn’t pretty. lol
I don’t think a brokered convention is such a bad thing. Highly preferable to Romney. I seriously don’t think Romney can win. All the media who loves him today will turn as soon as he’s nominated. His wealth will be a huge issue and they’ll make sure his usual negative attacks aren’t allowed.
Not only that, I believe that even if SCOTUS rules against Obamacare, Romney would find another way to do it if elected. He believes in it, he’s said so.
Okay, let's say you're right. Maybe Santorum really **IS** on third base because of things that weren't mostly his doing. I can accept that; I've been unhappy with the campaign disorganization of many of the major candidates so far except Romney, and I can't accept Romney's flip-flopping on key issues.
Third base is one stop from home plate. Do you have another candidate who is on third base? Or even second?
My understanding is that Republican National Committee rules require candidates to have a plurality in at least five states to have their names placed into nomination. Right now that means only Romney and Santorum qualify. Unless you have a plan for Gingrich to win three more states to add to his wins in Georgia and South Carolina, Gingrich's name can't even be in nomination.
You tell me how to get a candidate other than Romney and Santorum to the five-state threshold and I'll consider someone else as an alternative to Santorum to be a viable alternative to Mitt Romney.
Over on another thread, here...
http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/2866882/posts?page=61#61
... I said that after Tuesday it may be time for a united anti-Romney ticket. Based on the RNC rules I think there's no alternative but to have Santorum at the head of the ticket, but I'm very, very, open to your ideas on how to get not only Gingrich but also Perry and Cain (who previously endorsed Gingrich), and possibly Bachmann to have a united anti-Romney front.
I think that's the only way left for conservatives to win this race this year. Otherwise we're going to have a bitter split inside the Republican Party with a good chance of re-electing Obama.
That does not need to happen. We're rapidly throwing away the hard work of 2010, and only Obama can be happy with what is going on now in the Republican race.
And I am blinded by Romney’s motivation, namely, his altruism and deeply abiding love of country. What’s the sign for “sarc”?
This has got to be the most hysterically funny thing I've ever read on FR. Thanks for the laugh! :-)
You are always ripping Rick. He’s the only one with potential to stop Romney. I’m donating to Rick again today. Rush also complimented santorum today. Let’s try and fight the rom-machine.
That is encouraging thanks. Go santorum! Romney is to me as phony as NBC with their fraud on Zimmerman.
“If this struggle continues much longer, Obama will walk away with it again, because our side of incurably weak and chaotic.”
The reason Obama will walk away with it is because the GOP is on its way to nominating a candidate who believes in socialized medicine, restrictive gun control, forcing Catholic hospitals to provide contraception, global warming, cap & trade, etc. He also is proving to be a candidate that will say anything and spend any amount of money to get elected.
The reason Obama will walk away with it is because based records (not rhetoric), there is no difference between Romney and Obama...other than the fact that Obama’s tax plan defines the rich at $250k, whereas Romney defines it as $200k.
This loser couldn’t even beat McCain...now you think he will win against the $1Billion dollar Obama political machine? Because Romney won’t be able to contrast with Obama on any issue, he will lose in a manner that will make Carter look Reaganesque. Romney’s only claim is the economy...if the news spins the economy as improving, its over.
Scoff all you want, but unless an absolute miracle happens, we will be forced to do exactly that.
“....so we can build a strong offense around a solid candidate to go against Obama.”
Is it possible to build a “strong offense” when your candidate is about as “solid” as a wet dog turd?

Exactly. Rush is onto the msm and psychofreep argument. Why bother to trash santorum if Romney has already won it?
Who could really want Romney, besides moderate dems? Every moderate dem I know wants him over Obama. Why? Because he is a dem to them. And he hasnt proven to be an f-up like Obama has, to them.
After that result is digested, all the polls will change, perhaps even dramatically. We will soon see where they lead.
“Why bother to trash Santorum if Romney has already won it.” That’s simple, because Rick hasn’t quit yet. Why drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The outcome was certain but the Japanese were still fighting, which means more bloodshed and casualties. The outcome of the GOP primary is Romney wins, but every additional week of primaries that Rick and Newt (who I voted for so don’t call me a Romneybot) stay in is just more GOP bloodshed, bad feelings, wasted money, and rest and safety for Obama. The sooner this race becomes Romney vs Obama the better off we all are.
I live here in WI, and there is a HUGE e-mail/FB campaign to get libs to vote Santorum in the primary -— open primary means major false-flag opportunities.
I’ve seen your Rick hate from one thread to the next. I’ve seen you ridicule AND BULLY Santorum supporters from one end of FR to the other. A miracle just may happen, but in the meantime, I’ve seen you do all you can to make sure that miracle never happens.
Why, if a Romney nomination is so inevitable, WHY do you persist in assisting the GOP-e’s efforts in shoving a liberal candidate down our throats? I’m a Constitutional right-to-life loving CONSERVATIVE, and I REFUSE TO BE MARGINALIZED.
So what? noob.
You just signed in today to tell us that?
This psyop will only work if we let it.
BTW, if Romney is so conservative, then how do the liberal states know to vote for him? lol
It does us absolutely not good to replace Obama with ORomnaba. We get nowhere on saving the country. We do not even get better judges out of it. That is, if Romney could even win. The Dim with the D beats the Dim with the R every time.
Can you please send this message on, Laz?
Senator Ron Johnson’s decision to endorse Mitt Romney may be backfiring. The comments on his Facebook page are 95% negative. Please call his local WI. campaign office to add your voice;
(920) 230-7070. Thanks, MM
That being said, I don't think PSYCHO-FREEP has been particularly unfair and nowhere near as hyper-partisan as the Newtbots who still think their guy can win.
If Rick doesn't pull off an upset or at least come close in Wisconsin tomorrow, then I'm afraid the negative momentum could carry into Pennsylvania. If Rick loses here in PA, I think his political career is over and that would be a tragedy. If he suspends his campaign gracefully should the expected happen tomorrow night in Wisconsin, I think he starts 2016 as the front runner. And there's not a whole lot the GOP-e can do about it.
You cornered him. He is a phony with a separate agenda....BTW, the WISCONSIN base is ON FIRE for Rick Santorum tomorrow! Hold on to your hats!
Well, he is either Ann or Sybil. He keeps bouncing around from one person to another, one idea to another, hates Santorum and now appears to be for Romney but used to be for Newt and an open convention.
Then he has the nerve to label others as delusional or not expert enough to appreciate his fine political skills.
geesh LOL
He's just posturing now.
