Skip to comments.Obama takes a shot at Supreme Court over healthcare (Obama's trying to intimidate the SCOTUS)

President Barack Obama took an opening shot at conservative justices on the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday, warning that a rejection of his sweeping healthcare law would be an act of "judicial activism" that Republicans say they abhor.
Obama, a Democrat, had not commented publicly on the Supreme Court's deliberations since it heard arguments for and against the healthcare law last week.
Known as the "Affordable Care Act" or "Obamacare," the measure to expand health insurance for millions of Americans is considered Obama's signature domestic policy achievement.
A rejection by the court would be a big blow to Obama going into the November 6 presidential election.
Republican presidential candidates, who are vying to take on Obama in November elections, have promised to repeal the law if one of them wins the White House.
Obama's advisers say they have not prepared contingency plans if the measure fails. But the president -- who expressed confidence that the court would uphold the law -- made clear how he would address it on the campaign trail if the court strikes down the law.

Bit late to intimidate them, isn’t it? They voted on Friday.
The arrogance of this man child is astounding.
Here’s hoping the majority of Supreme’s won’t take kindly to BO’s ‘Chicago Way’ of threatening aka his ‘boot on their necks approach’. What a megalomaniac prick!
Judicial activism is OK when it is in Barack’s an progresives favor.
He must have gotten leaked info from his ass kisser Kagen that the Mandate is going to be declared Unconstitutional. If Big Ears thought the ruling would be upheld he wouldn’t already be trashing the Supreme Court
When you note the ‘strength’ of his commentary...he obviously got the results of the Friday straw poll taken at the Supreme Court and knows how the results will go this summer with the final opinion rendered. He’s discouraged about this and fairly angry. Based on this commentary, I’d say that the individual mandate has been voted down, and the entire law declared null and void...five to four. So everything they wasted an entire year upon and he had to make various promises to Democratic Senators to get the final deal done....is totally wasted. You can grasp his hostility and how he has to form up his entire September and October election speech topic list.
The comical side of this is that he’ll start every speech in Sep/Oct....with the anger directed toward the Supreme Court....but obviously can’t do nothing to fix his health act. It’s now dead, and he can’t get any majority in the House to re-start it. Toss in a fifty-fifty split in the Senate for next year, and even if he wins...there’s nothing much for him to accomplish for the remaining four years. Legacy-wise, it’s a blank chalkboard except for winning the Nobel Prize.
I suspect he’s heard from his operatives, Kagen and Sotomayor, that deliberations didn’t go well and Kennedy has sided with the constitutionalists.
Why else would he risk negatively affecting the outcome?
You’ll know the answer if they really gin up the heat on Kennedy. Justices may change their minds up until the decision is announced in June.
Barack Hussein Obama - The “OJ Verdict” version of presidents!!!
Huh? That was their preliminary vote before they write their summary briefs. No doubt Kagan gave BO the bad news of what the vote was - which is why he's coming out trying to sway their ultimate decision. I'm just praying his insulting tactic will backfire, as Cheney would say, BIG TIME!
The Narcacisstic POS Kenyan has spoken again..
Hugo Obamalamadingdong Chávez speaks, or rather threatens. Next step will be to hold his breath and turn blue.
What a POS this creep is ,, Chitown politics with strong arm tactics . This little POS self made tyrant has a lot of nerve ,,, blood is shooting out of my eyes just reading this . He has 4 justices in his pocket already and is trying to scare Kennedy to fall left off the fence . God help us .
Anyone remember Bam-Bam humiliating the Supremes to their faces at the State of the Union and the RATS jumping up and cheering in the background?
Revenge is a dish best served cold. Eat up, RATS.
Yes, they can switch positions, though fairly uncommon. However, if there’s a case that could sway a justice due to history and politics, it’s this case. Justices have their own legacies to consider and Kennedy may not want the distinction of being the guy that brought down the landmark achievement of America’s first ethnic president.
My opinion is that it’s more historic to have protected the Constitution and shored up other areas of constitutional law that have eroded over the generations.
A rebuff by this court could put other congressional and judicial overreach into play.
