Obama: Court Striking Down Obamacare Would Be Judicial Activism
Real Clear Politics ^ | April 2, 2012

President Obama preemptively slammed the Supreme Court as a bunch of "unelected group of people" who will have turned to "judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint" if they decide to strike down his signature legislative achievement, the healthcare reform act.

Obama was speaking at a trilateral event with the Prime Minister of Canada and President of Mexico.

Obama touted the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, as "a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically-elected Congress."

I am glad to hear him saying this - it reinforces my guess that the straw vote yesterday was pretty bad for Obamacare, and the Wise Latina has already leaked the results to him. I think he is going to be very disappointed with the results of running against the Supreme Court.

I was thinking along those lines before he attacked the Supreme Court. Obama would have an advantage if he was tipped off to the outcome of the Supreme Court Vote.
His appointees are more than likely "the end justifies the means types", so leaking the results to Obama would be expected. It would give Obama a heads up on how to run his campaign on this issue. - tom

The President lies all the time. I guess he figures he can get away with it.

And he called Clarence Thomas a weak judicial mind. He knows it is toast and is freaking out.

Pray for America

Now that is a very interesting thought.

I would not have thought a Justice would leak the preliminary results.

But in this case, you may be correct.

Because his comments - “Judicial activism”, “No precedent”
, etc - are insane.

I have said it before and I will say it again, of the two, Urkel makes Joe Biden look like Albert Einstein. This has got to be one of the stupidest people ever elected. First he singles out and blames the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address and now this. This idiot needs a teleprompter to remember to wipe when he goes to the bathroom.

Obama touted the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, as "a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically-elected Congress."

From Wiki:

On December 23, the Senate voted 60–39 to end debate on the bill, eliminating the possibility of a filibuster by opponents. The bill then passed by a party-line vote of 60–39 on December 24, 2009, with one senator (Jim Bunning) not voting.

The House passed the bill with a vote of 219 to 212 on March 21, 2010, with 34 Democrats and all 178 Republicans voting against it.

He thinks that's a strong majority? He's on track to tick off the Supreme Court more than Clinton, who was disbarred (not that the press ever mentions it).

EVERY politician that voted for this should be shamed, shunned and dragged by the collar from office like the dogs that they are. How dare you vote to steal my treasure and freedom?

He has defied other court rulings and orders the whole time he has been president. If he does as you say, Congress better get ready to impeach and carry him off in his straight jacket along with his crazy wife. Can he ignore the court? I can’t imagine anyone going along with him.

He's "setting the table." He's going instruct the Executive Branch to defy the court. He's going to precipitate a constitutional crisis by ignoring the Court. He expects there to be widespread civil unrest in our country this summer, and he thinks that he can get away with such a course of action under those circumstances

I think you've read it exactly right. Do you have any sources inside Washington, or is this simply deductive reasoning? If the latter, well done.

“The President lies all the time.”

No, not really - sometimes he tells the flat-out truth.

“Under my administration, energy prices will neccissarily skyrocket.”

“We are going to redistribute the wealth.”

I think Bambi is hoping for a reset on this. It will take one of the huge issues off the table in June and give five months to destroy Willard.

No Republican voted for the bill.

O’bummer did say he would work around Congress to implement his agenda. The Supreme Court is a bigger road block.

He is ripe for impeachment.

I don’t think it would hurt Congressional elections, Congress already has a popularity poll below 10% anyway.
