Martin's Parents Plan To Sue Homeowners Group(FL barf alert)

In Florida, questions continue to swirl about the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman gun down the teen in February. Zimmerman hasn't been charged because he claimed self-defense. One question that hasn't been answered: Is the homeowners association liable for the death.

Here's NPR's Greg Allen.

GREG ALLEN, BYLINE: There are nearly 200 townhomes at the Retreat at Twin Lakes, the community in Sanford where Trayvon Martin was shot and killed. It's possible the owners of those townhomes may also be held liable in Trayvon Martin's shooting. Lawyers for the Martin family say they plan a civil lawsuit naming both Martin and the homeowners association. Attorney Ken Direktor says that's not unexpected.

KEN DIREKTOR: The associations always make a good target in lawsuits because they carry substantial liability insurance.

ALLEN: In community newsletters, George Zimmerman was identified as the Neighborhood Watch captain, and residents were encouraged to contact him if they were victimized by crime. He was a volunteer, but attorney Donna DiMaggio Berger says that doesn't protect the homeowners association from liability.

She says some key issues in a lawsuit would be: Did the homeowners association help set up the neighborhood watch program, and how much diligence did it show in training and overseeing the volunteers.

DONNA DIMAGGIO BERGER: I have been told in this case is that they did reach out to the local sheriff's office to set up that neighborhood watch. And if that's the case, that's going to go a long way towards creating a safety net for that association.

ALLEN: Michael Rosenberg heads the Kendall Federation of Homeowners Associations, a group that represents hundreds of community associations in the Miami area. Because most homeowners associations carry substantial insurance, he doubts the Trayvon Martin shooting will have much impact

Zimmerman was acting as a private citizen at the time of the shooting, according to the police report.

This appears to be a "stop anyone from interfering with criminals" lawsuit, because it will dampen private citizens desire and ability to be proactive in preventing crimes.

Notice NPR's assumption of guilt in stating that Zimmerman "gun down" Trayvon Martin.

When the mother saw the grainy video that she claimed showed GZ w’out any injuries to the back of his head, she called it “the icing on the cake”. It was clear from her choice of words that a lawsuit was uppermost in her mind. How sick is it, that a mother loses her son, and cash register signs ring up in her eyes?

“George Zimmerman gun down the teen in February.”

Go on Twitter, surf around the net, read some of the comments on MSM news sites.

The hate spewing from the left is unbelievable.

NO facts, NO evidence. No reason or facts.

Just pure murderous psychotic hate.

Hate fueled by the deliberate barrage of manipulated lies coming from the MSM, coming from the left, coming from the highest office in this land.

Watch out folks, be vigilant.

Who didn't see this coming? In most CCW classes you're taught that even if you had a clean shoot and escape criminal prosecution, you can count on being sued to death in civil court.
These lawyers will sue anyone and everyone even peripherally involved in this case. Even if they have an unwinnable case, the cost of ongoing litigation usually forces a settlement of some sort.

“Notice NPR’s assumption of guilt in stating that Zimmerman “gun down” Trayvon Martin. “

According to witnesses, he was ‘gunning up’ into someone on top of him...not that NPR would let a witness get in the way of their agenda.

BTW - How many lawyers does the Martin family have?

Every time I turn on the TV, I see a different lawyer on being introduced as the Martin family attorney.

The HOA should be suing the Martin family for allowing that thug to terrorize their neighborhood.

In virtually all media articles about crime, the media uses the word “alleged”. Here NPR blatantly says that Zimmerman “gun down” Martin, and later, that he “claimed” self defense.

Shouldn't they be saying “allegedly gunned down” Martin?

Doesn't George Zimmerman have a case for slander here? Isn't he innocent until proved guilty?

Perhaps in NPR land, a “White Hispanic” is guilty by reason of his race.

This is a good thing. Trayvon will become an open book for all to see. If there is anything there that is now unknown about his character and activities I think the discovery process with ferret it out.

The most foul and and disgusting hate comes out of the diversity trained hater commies. They are like demons unleashed upon society.

Sometimes when I come across their comments I feel like I have tapped into a direct line from hell. They hate and attack everything that is good and love everything that is evil. The evil they have embraced makes them feel powerful, but ultimately, it will punish and kill them. It’s horrible.
