Don’t give up and go Romney, people. It looks inevitable but let’s not go down without a fight. Don’t let THEM tell us it’s over. Most of us have not cast a vote yet. Let’s keep going. The team doesn’t head to the lockers just because they are down bad with lots of time yet. Let’s show the country we matter and we don’t. Want. Romney.

Most 'conservative' thing I've heard tonight. Also the most solid piece of advice

You weren’t here last year. The Palin supporters here were rabid dogs going after *ANYONE* that didn’t profess an undying worship at her altar.

If you tried to explain that she hadn’t formed any state campaigns or hadn’t tried to gather any signatures to get on the ballot... you, quite literally, ran the risk of getting banned. And her supporters frequently pings the administrators to do just that.

They were CONVINCED she would run and were *VERY* nasty about the other candidates.

We CANNOT keep doing this. We CANNOT keep Santoruming and Huckabeeing ourselves based on some sick notion of the holiness of a politician. We cannot keep some broke one-percenter in the race because they were able to show well in Iowa after living there for two years and facing almost no attacks because of their low polling. We cannot keep rewarding these guys for throwing Hail Mary passes when we have a chance to defeat the Liberals. No more “shoestring” campaigns, no more one-percenters who surge in time to do well in Iowa, no more long-shot dreams based on the notion that some candidate is the mostest Christianest candidate of them all.

Unfortunately, it's not going to stop. The social conservative is someone that will never accept 'half a loaf'. It's either all or nothing. In that matter, they are just like the Palestinians (failed to get a state of their own for 64 years... cause they won't accept anything less than *EVERYTHING*). So that always means that they go for the candidate that promises everything, aka: the holy roller.

Which blinds them to the alternatives, such as the candidates that go 70-80% of the way, but are more well rounded in the conservative mold.

And as a result, it's always the candidate that isn't going to even offer a 'loaf' that takes it. IE: the moderate candidate.

So many of you guys slam Rick because he has faith.
It's people like you that put a bad name on “Christians” by that statement.

For months and months, we have constantly heard Rick insulted for his beliefs. i am just so tired of it. I can't understand how anyone who calls themselves a Christian uses Christian language to hurt someone.

I went to a Catholic grade and high school but now I am a member of an Evangelical Free Church. So I'm a bad Christian because I'm tired of people using religious terms to insult Rick? Many conservatives are people of strong faith. When you use faith terms to insult a person, you sound like your insulting all Christians, that is what it feels like. Like obama saying we cling to our bibles.

So why do you copy the left and constantly act like that is all Rick talks about? You know it's not or you have not read his speeches. Because someone speaks of their faith does not make them a bad person. So many on the left and those against Rick uses obama tactics. Attack one issue and don't let it go. The left has turned this into a religion thing and your would think conservatives would not fall for it.

I don't know who your candidate is, but if it's Newt, should we constantly talk about his affairs? Newt was not my first choice, but never once have I condemned him for what he said he repented of. The same grace is not given to Rick. I've heard so much dirt thrown at Rick and after studying it, I found it's all from leftist sites. What is true? I'm sure romney would have used anything of truth to attack Rick with. I also saw dirt on Newt and Romney. Should I believe everything I read on the internet?

As a Christian, I take your insults personal. It seems you want to make us Christians hid our beliefs; not talk about them. I answer to God and not anyone else.

I wish I had a nickel for every Santorum supporter that said they’d never vote for Newt because of his personal life. I would have made a small fortune here between the South Carolina and Florida primaries alone!

.Some people think that 50 million unborn children being killed is more important than what the hedge funds next quarterly statement is.

Addressed in post #254.

Romney appointed Democrats as 75% of his Judicial nominees while he was governor. That is not a typo, he appointed three times more Democrats than Republicans! Can you say David Souter, John Paul Stevens, Sandra Day O’Connor, and Anthony Kennedy (all appointed by Republican Presidents)?

I'm not arguing that Romney sucks. He does. I hoped against all odds that he wouldn't take it. The only candidates I found worse than Romney were Paul and Santorum.

Paul, as he's way too close with anti-Semites. And Santorum, as he's the Republican antithesis of Reagan; he's like Pat Robertson when he ran.

Unfortunately, social conservatives would not settle to unify all the conservative strands under one candidate. It *HAD* to be their way. Anything else meant you were a G-dless Communist b@st@rd that eats babies.

Well, I'm not one of them. I said I would vote for Newt if Rick dropped out. Over that last several months, a lot of people have been saying nasty things about other candidates. I do have a real problem with romney, and will not vote for him. If you need, I can show you documentation of him lying, cheating, stealing votes, buying votes and endorsements. He had no problem with partial birth abortion an gay marriage. He attacked the boy scouts because they would not allow gay leaders.

If people believe in God, truly believe, don't you think we have crossed the line over and over again? Gay marriage is bad enough, but now we have states that are forcing 5 year olds to learn about gay families and sex. Doesn't that make anyone but me mad? Isn't anyone but me scared about what is next? We have allowed so much evil (note my tagline) to exist in this country and yet we're suppose to pretend it's not happening. We're suppose to go with the flow and don't talk about what is happening to our kids and grandkids. It doesn't matter, only the economy matters. Some people care MORE about their kids and their future than money. What good is money if you lose your kids hearts and souls to the liberals?

CAWW—I'm sorry I was so harsh with you. I just see what is happening to our country-our kids and wonder what life will be like for them if God is pushed out of this country completely, like many think He should not be allowed in the election debate.

As for your comparing Rick to Robertson, that’s simply nuts. Pat is a kook, and Rick is mainstream. Rick is about 30 IQ points ahead of Pat as well. Bob

And before you implicate me as a Romneybot, I was a Florida consultant for Herman Cain’s campaign and have worked with the RPOF to get Gingrich supporters on as delegates, in case there’s no clear candidate by.the convention.

Obama is as White as he is Black.

When he first ran for Congress in 2000 in the primary against fellow rat Bobby Rush he was smeared by Rush and his people as “half-white with a weird name”. A few years later he was the great Black hope.

For months and months, we have constantly heard Rick insulted for his beliefs. I am just so tired of it.

That's not true,... however I will concede that those who listen 'ONLY' with the ears of faith might say that. But we are not voting for a new Pastor, we are voting for a President, a 'nation leader'....And we need both the ears of faith AND our intellect to make right judgments concerning our choice of candidate...just as we are called to do, and we make right judgments by examining the facts of a candidates voting history, his political moves and motives, and the results if any of his accomplishments.

The left has turned this into a religion thing and your would think conservatives would not fall for it.

Rick was not insulted on his 'beliefs'...he was vetted and continues to be on the social issues he's spoken of,... but it is 'he' who chose to present his positions with a strong heavy "religious" view, ignoring those who were wisely advising him to tread soft in doing so. And for that left himself wide open to be pushed into the corner..and he was...the LEFT simply picked up the ball he gave them. Again this is a Presidential Primary race not a Pastoral race.

I take your insults personal. It seems you want to make us Christians hid our beliefs; not talk about them. I answer to God and not anyone else.

If you truly believe you answer to God then you also know that there is a time and place, as well as degree, in which you speak about the things of God.... Mentioning your faith in God is fine in a Presidential race, most Presidents have done so when the occasion might call for it, but especially if you use that to under gird the Constitution and the Founding Fathers of our country as Newt did....and returning our nation to a nation Under God as it was intended to begin with. .........Santorum brow-beated people with a self-righteousness which was both offensive and degrading, especially to those who haven't faith. So he came across as a Preacher, and worse that He himself as the the authority of what one should believe.

I am a Christian and I realize that all Christians are at various levels of understanding their faith, and when or not it is appropriate to speak of.... More damage has been done to Christianity by those who speak before they think much about the environment they are in, if or not the hearer is prepared, let alone if or not by the prompting of God..... Santorum stepped ahead, and outside, the reasonable parameters of a statesman....and took things to a level one might hear from a Hell-Fire and Brimstone Preacher....and the outcome he brought on himself.

Rick could of used a lot more "Grace" in how he presented his faith...true statesman know how to do that.

"There is an appointed time for everything.... And there is a time for every event.......A time to be silent and a time to speak"....Ecclesiastes 3:1

“Also, like a Freeper said earlier, this is the first time that neither Presidential candidate will be a Christian.”

Not true. The election of 1800 between Jefferson and John Adams was another one, neither of those two believed in the divinity of Christ, the Trinity, the Virgin Birth or Bible inerrancy. Can you be a Christian and not believe?

And if we carefully examined every president and every presidential candidate, how much of true Christianity would we find? Should I remind you that not so long ago, Catholicism was held to be the religion of the Antichrist by great many Protestant denominations? And conversely, are those outside the Catholic Church regarded as true Christians by that Church? It seems you care more about outward appearance and not in what is inside the man.

For Catholics, the question here revolves around baptism. Mormon baptism is not, in the judgment of the Church, a true baptism, while protestant baptisms generally are. So broadly speaking, in the Catholic view, protestants are true Christians—Christians who may lack aspects of the fulness of the truth at times, but true Christians. (And if the lack of the fulness is through no willful fault, this may be better than having the fullness and not living it.)

Folks, please do not vote for Romney if you have an iota of principle. Ask yourselves this: what is worse an Obama 2nd term with congressional opposition or a Romney presidency with the republican congress singing “Kumbaya”? I dont know the answer but we have to stop rewarding lefty republicans if we want to stop getting them.

Conservatives aren’t coming out in droves for Santorum because they probably know that he’s no rock-ribbed conservative.

Failing that, there’s the fact that he’s about as exciting as buttered toast. I went to one of his campaign rallies in Zelienople, PA and I literally could not understand why the people around me were hanging on his every word. Even John McCain was more interesting in ‘08.

But despite all that, if Santorum had a chance, you better believe I’d vote for him. We can’t afford to be too particular with Obummer in the White House. But even so, we have to have our limits, or what do we really believe in: conservatism or the Republican Party? That’s why I’ll never vote for Romney.

On some level I’m sure that’s true. On the other hand, I’m sure there were many Tories that thought their party would endure as a meaningful political force.

This election is making it clear that there’s a place for a truly conservative/libertarian party in this country. We’ll see how things pan out.

‘Folks, please do not vote for Romney if you have an iota of principle. Ask yourselves this: what is worse an Obama 2nd term with congressional opposition or a Romney presidency with the republican congress singing “Kumbaya”?’

Sadly, this is wrongheaded. If 0 gets another term, he will likely appoint AT LEAST two more Supreme Court justices.

He may be railing against “judicial activism” right now, but if he gets the fix in with the Supreme Court, you can’t image the damage that will be done to America. Don’t forget that means a liberal majority for something like 40 more years. Romney may not nominate the ideal judges, but he will likely be better than 0, who will nominate full-fledged leftists.

So, this coming election will have to be about pragmatism and common sense if we’re to save America.

Romney’s record on judge appointments is horrible. My biggest fear is he will ruin congress. Look at what GWB did to congress. Remember the debate where Santorum had to explain his votes under GWB when he supported his leftist social policies? He got beat up for his explaination that it is a team sport. Don’t think for a second there isn’t truth to that. The only way Romney gets my vote is if he convinces me he will have a conservative agenda. He hasn’t convinced me of that now and, once he shakes the Etch a Sketch and runs left, I don’t see him convincing me of that after the convention. We shall see.

Don’t let THEM tell us it’s over.

I didn't let "them" tell is it was over, I looked at the math and came to the realization all by myself. There is no way to prevent Romney from winning the necessary delegates now. I still hope Newt stays in just to give him a platform, but at this point it is clear he won't be the nominee under any circumstances. As for Santorum, a guy who can't resist being bated into talking about condoms and porn was never going to be the nominee and simply isn't seen by enough GOP primary voters whom were looking for a non-Romney as a credible alternative.

He also has more hair and it is well-styled. This might help garner more support with some of the ladies.

I was hoping this was all a bad dream but this morning, I woke up realizing that Mitt Romney will be the nominee and no amount of heavy drinking between now and November will change that.

So what am I going to do when I go to the voting booth in November and see only Romney and Obama on the ballot for president? Do I have the option of having a sharp needle poked in my eye?

66 percent STILL ARE NOT VOTING FOR MR. FRONTRUNNER

Yep numbers can be spun many ways and often are. But there are many not voting for the other candidates either.

To date the total votes as shown on Real Clear Politics works out like this:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/republican_vote_count.html

Voting against:

60% — Romney
72% — Santorum
80% — Gingrich
10% — Paul

Delegates won:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/republican_delegate_count.html

58% — Romney
24% — Santorum
12% — Gingrich
06% — Paul

To me this says the voting populace isn't enamored by any of the candidates.

So what. I was here but not posting at the time. For you to state there were *JUST* 2 reasons that gave us Romney and for one to be Palin and to call Palin supporters nasty AND "worshipping at her altar" and deluded fools just shows your bias.

There was plenty of time to get around one candidate. Palin announced in October. Reagan didn't announce until Novemeber. It wasn't Palin's fault there weren't any one candidate people would rally around and when they did they got carpet bombed and lost interest. This isn't Palin's or Palin's supporters fault. Palin is not even a top reason let alone one of the only two. If you wanted to be fair and not just take shots at Palin and Palin supporters you would have stated it was the $$$$ and attacks by Romney.

What else do you call a person who will not see what is directly in front of their own eyes? Palin was not forming state-level campaign organizations nor was she gathering the necessary signatures in each state to get on the ballot.

That information was right in front of the eyes of every Palin supporter. It was shouted from the rooftops. Yet, they did not believe it. They had faith that she’d run... and that was all that mattered.

And the level of attacks against those that pointed it out rivaled that of the Spanish Inquisition.

So what else would you call them? Informed citizenry? No, deluded fool is a more apt term.

And simply having faith that something will happen despite all evidence to the contrary is very much like a cult. Hence the reference to ‘worshipping at her altar’.

...Santorum is the ONLY man standing between us and Romney/Obama.

You all never let up....even though your Newt never got half the traction as Santorum.

The point is not that you like Newt....

The point is you all were not content to like and promote Newt...

...but needed, on a daily basis, to write the most scurrilous, angriest, nastiest posts about Santorum.

Your posts may not have been in the nastiest league.....but you sure cheered them on.

Now you will live with it.

Maybe your conscience can excuse you......or does it accuse you?

This is so typical of one of your self righteous, sanctimonious rants. We who do not support Santorum are all condemned to Hell, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Where were you when Santorum entered the race 12 months ago, and polled below 2% for 10 months straight? Oh, that's right, you were a Palin worshiper at the time. And your rants at us “Pagan Nonbelievers” were identical to what they
are now with your messiah Santorum.

So, in other words, spare us any further condemnation and castigation. The rest of the Conservative World does not revolve around you, and you definitely do not define it.

I don't now who you are, or where you came from....

...but I do know you are filled with a spirit of anger and I feel sorry for you.

I hope you find relief and release.

Post after post of yours have been filled with sarcasm, anger, insult and ridicule.

How you run on a daily basis of this fuel, I don't know.

I hope you find help.

Republican Candidates could improve their Primary vote count by campaigning with the following idea:

Due to the FHA, Fannie and Freddie Bankruptcies of September, 2008, American home owners lost 30 % of the value of their homes. That is a 30 % cut in just one month. Home values are still down 30 %.

Thus, let us cut the total compensation to all elected Federal politicians, and their staffs by 30 %, and an additional 10 % cut to elected Federal politicians each year until Federal Spending is LESS THAN the average of the previous 2 years of Federal income.

BTW, since slightly less than half of the US House, and 2/3 of the US Senate are Millionaires, it will be a great opportunity for Congress to lead by example that EVERYONE should give up their “fair” share of the American Dream.

What better way can there be to demonstrate that Federal politicians are on the same page as the voters?

I’m in the Anybody but Obama crowd now and I hope everyone will join me.

I will join you. Like Sarah said, “ANYBODY BUT OBAMA”. I’ve been checking around the internet and thankfully, unlike some here on FR, most will vote for the Republican candidate and try to defeat the Marxist that resides in the White House.

Feel free to continue singing “Cum-ba-ya” with the ruling class. It has really done us so well to date.
