On the same day that a gunman killed seven students at a small California Christian university, hundreds of college students across the nation went to class wearing empty holsters on their hips.
The message was part of Students for Concealed Carrys weeklong Empty Holster Protest, an event designed to encourage universities to allow students, faculty and administrators to carry concealed weapons on campus.
That the demonstration began on the same day as Mondays shootings was a poignant and ironic example of the very thing were protesting, group spokesman David Burnett said.
Colleges invite these shootings by guaranteeing criminals their victims will be disarmed, Mr. Burnett said. It takes more than signs to fend off killers.

So you see, in posting the original release from SCC earlier today that was moved to “Bloggers & Personal”, I was trying to give Free Republic the scoop, not pimp a personal blog. But it’s all good.
“Gun Free Zone” = kill without consequences
My personal rule: If I can’t carry concealed there, I don’t go there. No exceptions.

When the argument related to the events at the Korean Christian Nursing School in Oakland turns to guns on campus, I hope it will be loudly explained that guns were not allowed on campus or anywhere else in Oakland for that matter. The shooter broke the gun laws already in place.
Someone who knows more about local Oakland, CA law can expand with details on this thought (or correct them). I lived near San Fran years ago and visited a gun shop in the area once. That’s all I needed to realize I wouldn’t be purchasing anything for self defense that included a sharp edge or balistic projectiles.
Kinda hard to renew your CCWL, then.
