Posted on 04/05/2012 3:27:49 PM PDT by barmag25
Tyler Perry's April 1 Facebook post about police pulling him over was no April Fool's joke: The highest-paid man in entertainment is accusing a pair of white Atlanta police officers of racial profiling.
Four days later, Perry's post boasts more than 117,000 "likes," 21,000 comments, and 12,000 shares. Atlanta police have launched an internal investigation, E! News reports.
Perry's predicament began when he admittedly made a left turn from a far-right lane -- a trick his security detail taught him, to make sure he wasn't being followed, Perry explained on Facebook.
Two white Atlanta police officers pulled him over, but apparently did not realize they'd just stopped Tyler Perry.

And why would this innocent little angel be concerned about being followed?
Followed by whom? Some of 0bama0’s sons?
That R card goes well with the brothas.
It doesn’t matter who taught it to him, it’s
an illegal turn.
why? because a tiny electronic device is an instant mob.
Two white Atlanta police officers pulled him over, but apparently did not realize they’d just stopped Tyler Perry.
Race of cops: Doesn’t matter.
Alleged...gasp... celebrity of entitlement racist thug: Doesn’t matter.
Making a Left from a Far Right lane: Matters.
Pushing the edge.
I had to do a search to see who the heck is Tyler Perry.
A black officer arriving on the scene immediately recognized Perry. The solution is: White people need to become Tyler Perry fans!!!;)
Gee! For some reason I have never heard of this Thug! He is supposed to be famous, for what?
First, who is "Tyler Perry"?
Second, who gives a crap who makes an illegal traffic maneuver, and the idea that "did not realize they'd just stopped "XXXXXXX" (fill in the blank), should NEVER make a difference, period.
What is that pesky 14th Amendment regarding "Equal Treatment Under the Law"?
So, being stopped for making an illegal turn is now racist. Oy.
Skittles, I see Skittles everywhere.
Seems the pOleece didn’t know how important this dog was.
> For some reason I have never heard of this Thug!
Neither have I.
> He is supposed to be famous, for what?
My guess is that he’s a “rapper”. You know, the guys in the ‘hood that rap about hos and n***as and raping white girls and killing white people, especially cops.
I am sick and tired of this black rant.....I never felt I was prejudice but I tell you I”m beginning to hate these race baiters.
What are the odds that I can beat an “exhibition of speed” ticket on my Harley because I’m female?
[warm weather’s coming...need to know ASAP]
You can comment on his FB page. I did. ‘)
I've never heard of him.
Tyler Perry is, perhaps, the most successful black movie director in history. His movies are hilarious and tend to deal with problems within the Black community such as drugs, poor grades, prostitution, etc.
Until this report, I had a very positive opinion of Mr. Perry.
It’s going to get worse folks. Much worse. The most crime-ridden element in our society has now been informed by the president and his attorney general that hey no longer have to abide by the laws governing the rest of us. Unmitigated hell is about to descend upon our nation.
Surely you know the answer: It depends on how you look and how much you smile.
Edit: Mr. Perry is about as far from a thug as you and I are. Watch any “Madea” movie or “Why did I get married” for a glimpse into his views.
So let me get this straight, Mr. Perry makes an illegal move making a left from the far right lane, and what did Mr. Perry expect to have happen..get a high five for that? He did an illegal move, he deserves a ticket. This is what happens when your famous, you expect everyone to bend over and kiss your ring. The rules only apply to us peasants
He’s usually in drag in most of his movies so why would the average cop know who he is?

I am culturally ignorant, mostly because I refuse to watch movies that employ vulgarity or open sexuality.
> Until this report, I had a very positive opinion of Mr. Perry.
Apparently, he’s just another race-baiting, chip-on-the-shoulder jerk.
>>>The solution is: White people need to become Tyler Perry fans!!!;)
What is his redeeming social value? What does he contribute to the betterment of humanity?
I see illegal left-turns every day. You must make a left turn into the left lane. Not a left turn into a right lane. I remember my Mom almost getting a ticket for that over 55 years ago. Of course the cop just wanted to meet and talk to the stunning redhead driving a T-Bird convert. She got a warning! She always just got warnings!
When this doesn't happen....will you come back and tell us?
Would you like to make a bet....that "Unmitigated hell is about to descend upon our nation" will not happen on us?
How about $5k? Of course...we should have a time line. What time line would you propose?
I'm game to see what you will wager....Give me some terms.
His movies promote morals and values that are appropriate in all cultures, not just black culture. As I said, before this story came out I had a very positive view of Mr. Perry due to his efforts in promoting good, solid morals to a community lacing morals.
As of right now, I am inclined to agree with you, however I will wait until all the facts come to light before making my judgement.
So far I haven’t been caught at it.
Hopefully, if I ever am, it won’t be a female trooper.
Darn, I like his movies. His characters actually believe in God.
How could the cops tell what color he was through the tinted windows?
Watch his movies. He promotes CHRISTIAN morals and virtues in the Black community.
The ignorance of the majority of posters on this thread is staggering. While I understand that this behavior is nowhere near acceptable, Mr. Perry was a very respectable man who made movies that addresses certain issues in the black community.
While this current issue is a very large negative, it still does not outweigh the tremendous positive effects that he, hopefully, has had on the black community. If this behavior continues, however, than he will have solidified this negative reputation.
Medea needs to slap this foo upside his head.
When I moved to Norfolk after marrying a sailor, every time I left the house alone, I got pulled over.
Always got the same answer to my question of “Why?”
“Oh, just to talk.”
My parents thought I was kidding until they followed me down to bring back my stuff when he deployed and a female Norfolk cop pulled my dad over and hit on him.
Weird town; weirder cops.
I agree. I’ve found his movies to be quite funny and not the least bit trashy, raunchy or laced with profanity. He does profess to be a practicing Christian and the themes in his movies also reflect Christian values. We’ll see what comes from all of this.
If it weren’t for a couple of my friends who are friends with you I wouldn’t have known who you were until a couple of months ago and I don’t think I would recognize you at a party.
Doesn’t mean you are black. Doesn’t mean you are invisible.
I just don’t know you.
Now, the black officer might have recognized you because you are prominent in the black community and a bit of hero.
Heck, even I admire your story but wouldn’t have read it. A friend told me about it as you discussed doing some producer deal.
If I was a white cop, and I am white, and I knew who you were and you described your security it would definitely be a coin toss as to whether or not you were ticketed for a very unsafe maneuver.
Now, if I were this white cop and hadn’t heard my friends stories about your life you would get a ticket.
Hopefully, the Black cop explained a little bit who you are and that your security measure seemed reasonable so long as no one was in danger and I hope you weren’t ticketed because, it does seem reasonable to me as do the other things that I know people like you are advised to do.
You didn’t get a ticket otherwise it would have been mentioned in the story.
Give the racism thing a break. They probably didn’t know you are a big deal and they likely took the advice of their brother in blue and didn’t issue you a ticket.
Which means we could infer favoritism of the Noble and Privileged. Couldn’t we?
[ Two white Atlanta police officers pulled him over, but apparently did not realize they’d just stopped Tyler Perry.]
Translation: Do you two flatfoots KNOW who the hell I am?..
Upon further review, I’m not in the target audience for his product, and I will not be watching any. Thank you for the explanation.
Well, I know what you like and if I were a cop and pulled you over I’d say “You were fast before you hit the gas. Might wanna slow it down a bit. Have a good day”.
Nully probably agrees.
I’d take Tyler Perry’s word over any APD cop on any occasion.
Tyler Perry is a stand up guy with conservative views which are propounded in all of his various and highly successful shows.
This is a very successful guy with values which we all should venerate, and the APD is a corrupt organization which we should all be suspicious of.
Sounds like a publicity stunt for “Tyler Perry’s Driving While Black.”
The Old West had "Fast Draw" artists like Wyatte Eyrp, Wild Bill Hickok, Bat Masterson, etc. Today, we also have "Fast Draw" artists, but instead of a pistol, today's "Fast Draws" whip out the "Race Card". Pathetic Putz's.
The race issue will never be resolved.
500,000 years from now the weak blacks will still resort to it.
Yeah those was some super racist white cops they could see he was a black man through that illegal tint on his windows and thats the only reason they pulled him over....
Obama and the left want to gin up so much racial tension in this country so that he will guilt some ignorant whites into voting for him just so there won’t be riots.
