Was RNC in Tank for Romney?
Politico ^ | April 6, 2012 | Kenneth P Vogel

"Critics, including supporters of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich and even neutral Republicans, argue that the national party took steps that helped tilt the contest toward Mitt Romney — an allegation that the RNC rejects but is taking very seriously.

The list of specific grievances ranges from issues that even the party acknowledges are legitimate to those that they dismiss as desperate fixations from Romney’s flailing rivals.

An operative for one of Romney’s GOP rivals said, “I know this sounds like Watergate conspiracy theory stuff, but it is all connected. It’s the same sort of establishment crowd who all have concluded that we need Mitt Romney to be the nominee to beat Barack Obama.”

The operative, who was not authorized to discuss the race, has worked at high levels of GOP politics, but said, “It has been eye opening to see up close the degree to which the establishment does put its thumb on the scale.”

When Romney wraps up the nomination it is going to be almost comical to watch the whole party rally around him and declare him a “Conservative”. When we all know he isn’t.
What a sorry choice we will have, possibly the worst ever in my lifetime.
A Maxist and a Center Left Socialist. What do we choose?
I predict a low voter turnout and Obama wins by default, i.e Conservatives either staying home or voting 3rd party.

All of those money men... the money bags... those that buy elections... one thing that all of their power and all of their money combined cannot get them... MY VOTE! FUmr!

I am not ready to throw in the towel yet. I still support Newt. A solution, a way through, a Miracle may yet come our way. This has been a real learning experience though, I can't believe how naive was just a short time ago... damn!

I posted the following on another response in this thread. Instead of feeling so defeated, I am not sure we shouldn't feel encouraged that we have lasted this long against such a formidable opponent... and it's time for the people of deep courage to dig down deep and double down.. it's not over yet.

According to this, the RNC thought they had it all wrapped up six months ago - that's not too shabby for a band of Davids against a monied Goliath...

TOP GOP Official: We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”

Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, 4:54 AM

"Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

If the following could somehow get written deep in the heart of hearts of every tired, discouraged, disillusioned Newt supporter, we could all get a second wing and soar again... I plant it in your heart for now. May it grow and may you be blessed. And may God bless Newt.

"Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past. Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don't you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land. - Isaiah 43:18

Hell yes! I received a call from the RNC at least two months ago wanting a donation. I asked her what it would it go towards, she gave me the laundry list which included very clearly, to help Romney beat Obama. I said, oh then Romney has already won the nomination, she shuddered and said basically yes.

Yeppers. And they can't understand why the rabble isn't lining up the way they usually do... Romney all but said that once he's the nominee everybody will get behind him. They sure do take us for granted. I'm a woman. I don't like being taken for granted...

Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair

We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him…

Ya-huh, ok.

What the good Mr. Mosbacher probably still does not see, despite the flagrant attack behavior of the Willard "I really am a conservative, honest!" crew is that the conservative base is fed up with attitudes such as his.

What would be some good advice for Mr. Mosbacher is that reality is actually the other way around.

He needs to realize the "time has come" for the RNC to get behind the VOTERS.

Given their thick-skull dim-wit behavior I don't see them being astute enough to figure it out.

I will tend to disagree with this ultimate D.C. insider, another person out of touch with reality.
I will say this, the one issue that will defeat Obama regardless of Romeny is $4 to $5 gas on election day, that is the one thing that dooms Obama, a real pocket book issue that he frankly just doesn’t care about!!!!!!!!
