‘America Is Better Than Glenn Beck’: College Textbook Includes Anti-Beck Writings
The Blaze ^ | 4/6/2012 | Madeleine Morgenstern

“Today’s Tea Party adherents are George Wallace legacies.”

“[Glenn] Beck is an ignorant, divisive, pathetic figure.”

If those sentences sound to you like they’re straight out of the op-ed pages of the Washington Post and the New York Times, you’d be right. But they can also be found in a college textbook assigned to students at a community college in Texas.

America Is Better Than Glenn Beck: Anti Beck Writings in College Textbook“Read, Reason, Write: An Argument Text and Reader” is a critical reading and analysis book assigned to freshmen at Lone Star College-University Park in Houston. Its 10th edition features a collection of readings excoriating Beck and the Tea Party, while providing only the barest counter point of view.

I cannot agree at all, although I believe Glenn has made some serious mistakes regarding George Zimmerman.

Overall, I believe he is a good man.

America is better than Glenn Beck?

You mean the baby-killing, sodomite, potty-mouthed, voter-fraud, mob rule, occu-tard, hate-filled, adulterous, murderous, lying, thieving, blaspheming, covetous, earth-worshiping, anti-Christ, anti-Jew, anti-Israel, Liberal America?

That one?

I’m wondering if THAT America is even as good as Josef Stalin.

In 1964, Wallace campaigned as a Democratic candidate for president

So, the Tea Party are Democrats.

When people say that the real enemy of ‘Liberalism’ is ‘Reality’, they are not far wrong.

Liberalism is all about redefining ‘reality’ and, apparently, history.

Um, please read my post a little more carefully.

This country is very sharply divided. I was addressing the portion of the country that thinks it’s “better than Glenn Beck”.

Another part of the country is God-fearing, freedom-loving, monogamous, humble folk that know they’re sinners and need The Savior. You know, the “Glenn Beck” part of the country that the other side is “better than”.

I’m no fan of Beck, I stopped listening to his ramblings, when he had the interview with Palin when he questioned her “soul to lead” or some such nonsense. He also jumped the shark on more than one ocassion.

Still, this attempt to innoculate the impressionable Utes with obvious left=wing proganda is reprehensible. I’ve found similar examples in my child’s elementary school, such as the history text book, that praised the “Progressives” for standing up to greedy businessmen in the early 1900’s.

a critical reading and analysis book

...notable for its completely uncritical and non-analytical point of view regarding the standard bromides of the Left.

I’m in that picture and I wish I wasn’t. I have come to see this guy as a fake and a skunk who has no place in the conservative movement other than to serve as a reminder that we must carefully consider who we see as our leaders.

Does that help?

Unfortunately far too many conservatives are willing to allow it to happen for no other reason than the fact that they personally don't like Beck or whoever else the target of the moment is.

Beck has a serious flaw with his public personae when it comes to "use of force" issues.

He promotes a pacifist orientation with regard to public policy activism when it is more than obvious he is not a pacifist personally.

Whether this inconsitency is a defensive measure or simple hypocrisy is unclear.

Nevertheless, I agree with you: he's a pretty good guy.
