TULSA — Several members of the Tulsa chapter of the NAACP gathered at a north Tulsa church Friday evening for an emergency meeting to discuss what police have characterized as a possible "shooting spree" that targeted five people early Friday morning.
As news spread that the police are looking for a white man in connection with the shootings of five black people, people began saying they believe the shootings were racially motivated.
KRMG spoke with Tulsa City Councilor Jack Henderson as the meeting continued in the 2200 block of N. Peoria Avenue.
When asked if people in the community felt that the shooter or shooters were deliberately targeting black people, he replied "yes, absolutely."
He told KRMG the "word on the street is that this person would drive up to people walking, ask for directions, and when they would turn away, walk away, begin firing. That's truly a concern, and anybody would be (ill) at ease if you knew this was going on."
He added that "I've talked to the Mayor, and the Mayor assures me that the city is on top of this. The police chief, I've talked to him, they have a lot of people that are on this case, they'll be working around the clock."
Henderson said he urges anyone with information to come forward, and in the meantime he wants people to be careful. Also, he definitely wants to avoid any sort of vigilantism.
"Don't go out late at night walking by yourself, until these people are apprehended. We need to be careful, and we don't want anybody to go out and do any vigilante-type stuff either. Let the police do their jobs."
Meanwhile, Chicago is turning into a sideshow shooting gallery, black on black, and Jessie, Al, and the NAACP are nowhere in sight.

I posted the report from KJRH which wasn’t as detailed as this one. They said that a white man was seen in the area driving a white van, but didn’t include the part about asking directions. The whole thing sounds rather odd, though.
Anyone agitating for this have no idea what they’re in for.
I was wondering about that myself. Where are the actual witnesses? Is this just an attempt to cover up gang shootings? The report at KJRH was different from this one.
They were worried about a white serial killer targeting blacks in Flint Mi. a few years ago. Turned out to be palestinian or something and he was targeting people out wandering alone at all hours of the night.

I saw your post after I posted. (I did a search on FR but found nothing about this story.) Looks like you beat me by 13 minutes. I first heard about the story on a ABC radio report this morning. No doubt the SRM will be having a field day with this story.

Will there be an admonition to "Take ten" -- and I mean to take a break and let the police find out what really happened NOT the 1960s version of "kill ten whites". (Blacks were ten percent of the population in those days.)
Randomness is the key. No motive, no connection, no apparent reason for the location or individual can mean no arrest.
The variation between the 2 stories is interesting. One has to ask why they differ and are there realy witnesses or is this just based on “the word on the street”? Either way, I’m afraid it will be an excuse for more violence.
So how much do you want to bet the meeting started out with the words: “So how do we capitalize on this situation?”
Just what I was thinking. Not to throw cold water on all this wild speculation, but DC turned the area upside down looking for a white shooter driving a white van or small truck and it turned out to be two black guys driving an old dark colored sedan. I think I will wait for more definitive information in this new case.

This sounds suspicious, too convenient. I recall a similar rush to judgment in Atlanta when black children were targeted. The “media” pushed the “evil” white guy (with no proof)then it turned out to be a black man. What about the 70 year old white man beaten by young blacks to “get even” for Trayvon?

Usually early reports are more accurate and detailed before the PR Folks try to sanitize them.

Regardless of race, Oklahomans come with CCL’s in their wallet also, and will defend blacks as readily as whites against drive by’s. Doubt this lasts long for the perp(s).

FOX Radio news mentioned the Friday Tulsa crimes on their 11:00 AM news broadcast (Eastern time), but I never hear FOX Radio mention the elderly white couple in Oklahoma, nor the 78 year old white man beaten by black thugs in Akron, Ohio.....or the 50 year old white man beaten with a hammer in Sanford, Florida by black teens (he is near death).....or the white college student in Mississippi who was shot in his dorm by blacks.....or the white guy in Baltimore who was robbed, beaten, stripped and videotaped by feral blacks......or the white teenager walking home from school who was set on fire by black teens, etc.
