Is Some Homophobia Self-phobia?
University of Rochester ^ | April 5, 2012 | Susan Hagen

That might explain those who are afraid of queers, but it doesn’t explain the disgust & revulsion of the rest of us.

Who is afraid of homosexuals? Most people’s objections are moral and medical....not based on fear.

Rule 1: homosexuals do not reproduce, they recruit.

This reminds me of that show “Fear Factor”, where they challenged people to eat weird gross stuff every episode.

That’s not even consistent with the title, which more accurately should have been “Gross Out Factor”.

I think we should get out our shovels. I guarantee you that they decided what they wanted the outcome to be than structured the study to give them what they wanted to read. Manipulating data to verify a preconceived belief is not new in academia but I believe it has become more prevalent in recent years. Everything is agenda driven.

Liberals subvert everything.

Education was dumbed down.

Our media become propagandists.

Now our once mighty American science, has become play acting.

Just because I find the idea of two guys sticking their privates up each other’s butts disgusting doesn’t make me homophobic.

I find the idea of sheep sodomy equally disgusting. Does that make me bestiality-phobic?

Yawn. Same bogus “social science” claptrap we’ve heard from liberal academia pushing an agenda forever.

If the alleged same sex attraction is there, but unacknowledged, then how can they even know it is there?

You can say anything unacknowleged is there. It’s a baseless assertion.

...Gays have this thing of wanting everybody else to be gay...

So correct, to the point that they will molest others to try and make converts. I’m willing to bet that most homophobia results from molestation or attempted molestation, and it is clearly justified.

“I don’t get where that much energy comes from”

The word of God? The Bible calls homosexuality an “abomination,” and those who practice it “dogs” (not a nice pet friendly term. The dogs of Scripture are ravenous, biting, poop eating horrors).

If God calls it an abomination, I’m not going to argue.

It is a sin that perverts everything around it.

“Exactly!! “Phobia” means fear. I doubt there are many in here who are fearful of homosexuals — but there are many who do know the difference between right and wrong, safe and dangerous.”

Dittos, I am not in the least bit frightened by homosexuals. I just refuse to pretend it is ok or acceptable behavior. It isn’t.

I certainly agree about Godless liberals. For me, though, Jim, “homophobia” is a stupid word. It means fear of homosexuality. I’m not afraid of homosexuality. I think it’s unnatural, unclean behavior kills people.

Is there a word for “rejecting homosexuality”?

"Gays have this thing of wanting everybody else to be gay ~ guess they imagine that will make finding dates easier."

That is the truth. The homosexuals I've known, both in the workplace and my former hairstylist, fantasized that every other person they knew was really gay, and just hiding it.

Except it is not.

homo- is the Greek prefix meaning “same.”

There is a Greek word arsenokoitai - it should probably be called arsenokoitophobia. (botanai = “pasture” becomes “botanophobia.” Sadly, English professors have led the way in debasing the language.

Also self-fear is autophobia.

You know, I wonder if the homos coined the word homophobia to attempt to impart to it a power which it otherwise wouldn't have. In other words, to imply that a homophobic was suffering from an irrational fear of their perversion, which would automatically give them a position of superiority over the "normal" (i.e. homophobic) people. Just a thought.
