Hollywood wants a $500-million blockbuster out of Sacramento.

In the final days of the legislative session, the industry is seeking a five-year extension of a tax credit for producing films and television shows in California. It has assembled a powerful coalition of moguls and unions, who argue that failing to re-up the program risks losing film jobs to states offering even more generous rebates.

A lot of movies and TV shows aren’t being made in California. For many years, Vancouver has been substituted for many East Coast locations, lots of movies have been made tax-friendly locales such as NC and Texas. Lots of other states aggressively market themselves for on-location shoots and generous tax breaks.

Here's an article from a VFX insider who comments on the disgruntled motion effects artists who want to stick it to the man by unionizing, thereby slitting their own throats. It probably won't happen, but the lefties in motion graphics are plenty ticked about having to do more and get paid less by the industry. This is win either way as I see it. Give Hollywood the tax break and loose $500 million in revenue. Don’t give it to them and they leave and take their business with them and all their payroll taxes, etc. As one who wants California to go under at the soonest possible point in time, this is a win-win!

Add the serendipity that the ones that drive the knife into California will be the ultra leftist (Marxist) Hollywood "enlightened" elite, disemboweling unions, the 99%, DemoRat campaign coffers, and all the "social justice" causes.

Of course they could voluntarily STAY in the state and REQUIRE all employees to be union and live in state, and all software created in state, then smilingly hand those enormous tax checks over publicly on the TV news.
