On vacation. Laptop not working. :(
The last time gas was $4 a gallon, we had an extended body Chevy Trailblazer. It had a 26 gal gas tank and the summer of 08 boys played in tourneys in NY and SC. So do I ever remember the $80 per stop at the cost pump.
So when it made sense I downsized vehicle...and am once again stinging from the expensive gas. We have a supermarket here that a has fuel saver card—but the supermarket itself is more expensive (and admitted waaaay nicer than) our Wally World.
Sigh.
My family and I love to get out on the road for random road trips. These have not happened very much for most of DEAR LEADER’s time in office.
My Suburban has that size of gas tank, filling up in Merryland is usually three figures.
Last week was a killer, in addition to back and forth to work (reasonable)—two trips to northern Allegheny County—so two round trips to Butler exit of TPike (EZ Pass reload) plus two fill ups and at Sheetz (or Get Go) stop for gas equals “I’m starving!!!”.
If you don’t have a job to go to— why drive the car??
Ha! Love traveling by golf cart! Spent a day at Put-In-Bay driving all over the island. Fun day!
HEY!!! I just figured it out!!
High unemployment is “green”
Three days is about as long as I can take.
no — unemployment conserves fuel —
The "harm it does to the country" hasn't even begun for real.
The Homestead is a bit over twenty miles (one way) to town, banks, shopping, etc, so that $4.00/gallon is really starting to bite.
....and that's with the 20MPG pickups and Grandma's little SUV, plus we're a lot closer to town than practically everybody we know around here.
The trucks we use to haul livestock or crops to market are ALL diesels, get single-diget MPG and at prices nearing $5.00/gallon.....
Well, I'd advise anybody who thinks that those groceries are spendy now to get a real tight hold on their hat, 'cause the stuff is going to start hitting the fan. My best guess for that SHTF day is at most a couple of months from now, although the BIG increases might not hit until August.

No thanks Claire you idiot.
wow....it’s a year already.....?
It really saddens me that other parents are thinking of taking kids out of sports because of costs. We have had that conversation in our family. Our next to youngest goes to college this Fall & it’s his last “season” of “Legion” ball; youngest will be 15 and eligible to play Jr. Legion. These are not the “premier” paid coaching league...but really good baseball coached by volunteers. All games max are no more than 75 miles away...so I’ll keep juggling to make it work. Both do lawn mowing as summer jobs (older one has steady customers year to year and younger one is the helper and eventual inheritor of those yards).
Let’s just try communism for a while and see if we like that too Claire!
Mikey likes it!!!
Claire McCaskill has a teenage girl type crush on Dear Leader. He’s her Justin Beiber. There are dozens of photos of ClaireBear all over of the web, looking dreamily at Duh Won.
I love Catalina Island...sailed to it a zillion times....
So did Natalie Wood :-O
