Faking an email isn’t hard to do folks, its damned easier than anyone will ever want to know. An open gateway and I can fake a message looking like it comes from Iran, then you can play with proxy’s and do more intricate stuff.
Claiming this is some grand conspiracy is silly IMHO, its an attention hound or copycats. Someone’s getting off watching all this crap IMHO.
Mental patient, disgruntled employee or student, or just someone desperate for attention.. and/or copycats from that. Its nonsense. First it was always a primary building now its against buildings slowly more and more buildings are being “threatened” its silliness.
Conspiracy theorists need to stop the nonsense.
I agree with your daughter its crazy, I’d be demanding my money back, because at this point you are paying to go to a school that is virtually having to conduct its classes online to function.
Unless it is a test run.
Shut down a university campus today, shut down the New York Stock Exchange tomorrow.
All I'll say is that after these threats have occurred for some time now, I'm surprised they haven't nailed any of the perpetrators. Do you really think its a mentally unstable patient/former patient from Western Psych? Those kinds of people make mistakes and leave trails-that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Its not a test run for the stock exchange.. Pitt is an URBAN campus with dozens of buildings spread out across Oakland.. It has open access to student and the public all the time... It would be a piss poor test case for the stock exchange, first of all.
Second of all, the new york stock exchange can be easily secured and I am sure already is to a certain level. So while a bomb threat might stop the action for a day, it wouldn’t be multiple days.
Thirdly, these threats have been going on now for weeks, starting with 1 every few days against 1 building and slowly escalating to multiple buildings per day over 40 total now. This isn’t some test run for terrorists, its some idiot(s) being idiotic.
Finally, Yesterday another school in town had its first bomb threat. Point Park got a bomb threat yesterday. This is a single nut desperate for attention, a student, a bunch of copycats or someone disgruntled at the school for some reason, nothing more.
Folks trying to speculate this is some grand conspiracy are just chaising their tails.. I now understand how folks buy into the craziest of conspiracy theories... speculation of OWS involvement or terrorists regarding this at this point is about as rediculous as claiming the government was behind 9/11 and it was a hoax.
In spite of what you see on CSI, tracking down someone or someones isn’t as easy as they make it look on TV. You have had threats written on bathroom walls... emailed.. sent to the newspapers.. and press... its not like the guys calling up Pitt every time, the threats are being delivered in various forms to various people.
The reality is, this is either a lone nut, with an axe to grind against Pitt for some reason, or a student or just someone desperate for attention or someone else started it and copycats are coming out of the woodwork, etc etc etc.. At this point whoever it is, if they have opened their mouth to anyone and are a pitt student, they will wind up busted hard, because at this point they have made nearly everyone at pitt faculty and staff inconvienced to the hilt. So if anyone knows who it is, they will be squealed on. Fact that hasn’t happened yet, leads me to believe its either multiple someones copycating, and or a lone nut just desperate for attention.
Point Park, another university in town got a bomb threat yesterday as well, pointing toward the copycats/lone nut desperate for attention theory.
