George Zimmerman launches website for donations via PayPal for legal, living expenses

Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman has apparently launched a website—TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com—to relay a message thanking his supporters, and to collect donations via PayPal for his living and defense expenses. The site had been down intermittently on Monday afternoon.

"I am the real George Zimmerman," a message on the site begins. "On Sunday February 26th, I was involved in a life altering event which led me to become the subject of intense media coverage. As a result of the incident and subsequent media coverage, I have been forced to leave my home, my school, my employer, my family and ultimately, my entire life. This website's sole purpose is to ensure my supporters they are receiving my full attention without any intermediaries."

I am giving him a hundred bucks as soon as the site recovers.

Keep hitting refresh and you’ll get the site. I just gave $50 and will give more when I am 100% certain it is going to Mr. Zimmerman.

I find it hard to believe that several right leaning (make that Constitutional) organizations would not be anxious to join in for his defense. If he really does need help with his defense funds, he alone should make the plea.

I’m guessing that site will see more than a few DNS attacks.

It really looks like George Zimmerman was totally justified in his shooting of Treyvon Martin. After reading everything I can find about the event I would have to say that I would also have shot my attacker. George Zimmerman is Innocent.

Combining a PayPal payment with a message: Have a Zimmerman relative confirm in a TV interview which donor site address is the “real” one.

Yeah I’ll send a few bucks too. He’s going to need help to keep afloat until his lawyers work out the details with NBC for his early retirement and high security estate in Palm Beach.

Really don’t know which ones will come to his aid but I have little doubt that they will. When anyone is being railroaded, there are several conservative organizations that usually help.

How do we know the site is legit and funds actually go to George?
I don’t want to be scammed.

The site is was up - I just made a donation.

Nice of Yahoo to quote this: "NBC News' Mara Schiavocampo said she confirmed through Zimmerman's lawyers that the site is indeed his. CNN and other media outlets followed."

OK - it is up again, but slow. I suspect it is simply very busy.

I will most likely send some just in case it isn’t legit. If it is legit I will put it on the list of stuff to donate too.

It seems that there are a couple of groups that are paying attention. Gun Owners of America and a group out of Tampa is raising funds for him. I don’t believe GOA has gotten that deeply involved but did have a spokesperson defending Zimmerman.

This case is not about Zimmerman; it’s encompassing alot of issues that the left has wanted to reignite: gun control, civil rights, but it’s the 2nd Amendment that everyone on the left will be (is) reactivating. This was just the little incident to help that along. Schmucky is right out there in front.

Funny, the party of death really detests when someone loses their life from their own actions. You’d think they’d celebrate the loss of life. I’m surprise they don’t throw parties at the end of each day when the aborted fetuses are thrown in the dumpster or some old person is duped into ending it all.

What a culture...

I sent money (I didn't have) to Perry, then Cain, then twice to Newt.

May as well send some to Zimmerman!

Zimmerman needs to give L. Lin Wood a call (in Atlanta)...right Herman!

Very well said! I agree with everything you have said!

I just hope the more organizations step in and support this simply because of the angst against Zimmerman. You are probably right though - send money to help. This may be simply too political for some organizations to get involved - too bad.

This seems to be more a case of Black against White instead of justice according to law. This is becoming more of an issue these days when TV personalities get involved. That just makes me more suspicious of the supposed crime.

If getting screwed out of ten bucks would cause you to starve we'll take up a collection for you.

Come on, chip in, it will give you a nice warm fuzzy feeling, just like smacking the crap out of Jesse and Al would and you won't have to wash your hands..

I was listening to Hannity today. He said he has spoken to George Zimmerman personally and that really is his website.

I wonder how long before they force paypal (or paypal does it willingly) to shut down and freeze his account.

The more people give, and the higher the amount in the account the more likely paypal will do it.

Looking at the site, I feel sad for Zimmerman, because it seems to reveal that he’s not getting much outside support, so he’s winging it. It looks like the kind of site I’d create, and I don’t know how to create websites.

Additionally, for legal reasons - and to protect oneself from charges of fraud - personal funds and money for a legal defense should not be co-mingled. The two should be solicited in different places, and money for legal defense should go to a separate, dedicated bank account. None of this is a criticism of Zimmerman; he’s got enough to deal with right now. But I hope he starts getting more support from, e.g., some good lawyers & other professionals.

Why thank ya!

You’re right. The racial component is definitely front and center. Sort of hysterical really. I bet 99% of the screamers were screeching “Arrest Him” “Arrest Him” only after hearing the name ‘Zimmerman’. Surprise Surprise...our diversity finally paid off: Zimmerman is Hispanic but, a new ethnicity has been born!: white hispanic! bwaaaahahahahaha

In all seriousness though, I think Mr. Zimmerman will get some heavy hitting legal representation even if on the ‘back burner’. It’s a classic case of self-defense. They have ruined his life and surely there are many that should pay; starting with the lynch mob headed by Spike Lee and the justice brothers of course.

So many issues involved. Hope the rose colored glasses are coming off some of the loony libs. Doubtful but there is hope.

I recently heard that zimmerman led a protest against a white person who was son of a police officer who beat up a black person. The white person eventually got charged.

Doesn’t this prove Zimmerman is not a racist? The irony is that the sister of the black person Zimmerman got justice for, now wants Zimmerman jailed for protecting himself.

The site is hosted by GoDaddy. I would not trust their security to protect against hacking.
