Obama team slams Romney for not paying "fair share" of taxes

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama's campaign team attacked his likely Republican opponent, Mitt Romney, on Tuesday for not paying his "fair share" of taxes ahead of a speech by the president on why millionaires should bear a larger tax burden.

Obama's populist message is a clear swipe at Romney, the wealthy Republican front-runner likely to face him in the November 6 election, as the Democratic president seeks to appeal to blue-collar voters he will need to win a second term.

One of the richest men ever to seek the White House, Romney paid an effective tax rate of 13.9 percent in 2010 on more than $21 million in income. Obama's campaign is anxious to paint him as elitist and out of touch with ordinary Americans.

I can’t stand Romney. I am not voting for Romney. But for the love of God, he pays capital gains taxes. The principle has already been taxed at the highest tax bracket. Whatever tax he is paying is a double taxation.

The way for any Republican to reply is to question all the taxpayer money that the Royal Obama family spends on expensive vacations and Golf outings. The average voter understands that.

"fair share" of taxes

I'm sick of Obama, et al, deciding for us what is our 'fair share' while his big ears and his wife's fat ass fly around on OUR DIME living it up like the hillbillies they are!

Pay more taxes so another governmental department can PARTY in Las Vegas for close to a MILLION dollars?! And then shove it in our faces by videotaping it?!

Republican reply? That’s an oxymoron. All you hear from that side lately are crickets.

The Dems never seemed, or seem, to have a problem with multi-millionaire Democrats Jack Kennedy, Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Diane Feinstein, or Nancy Pelosi, and the list goes on and on.

I am not voting for Romney.

Team Obama loves "principled" posts like that here at FR. Enjoy paying your "fair share" when Barry gets another four years.

The only fair tax plan is a flat tax or some variation on that. Make everyone pay taxes in the same way. No favorites.

The Liberals who want everyone to pay their "fair share" HATE a flat tax.
And so does the Republican establishment.

Professional politicians like a progressive tax scheme because that makes it easy to pay off cronies and buy votes. The end result is that "who pays what" becomes a function of "who has a good accountant".

John Kerry was "rich"

Yep, and he chose to dock his yacht in Rhode Island rather than MA because the MA taxes were too high.

A lot of people who “paid their fair share” saw the GSA blow 850,000 dollars for a party in Vegas.

Romney paid an effective tax rate of 13.9 percent in 2010 on more than $21 million in income.

And, the majority of that income was from investments which are taxed differently than other earned income.

FUBO!

And so it begins, Romney will be playing defense for the duration of this campaign.

The liberals are keeping to their playbook, throw the accusations down and just keep on leveling them, ignoring any and all responses to previous accusations.

It’ll be interesting to see how or if the Romney campaign responds.
