I just heard on Fox News that Rick Santorum is suspending his race for President. He will be giving a news conference

"Legally I believe he has to say “suspending” rather than “ending” his campaign or else he loses his delegates. And while Romney now will be the nominee, conservative delegates can at least push for a better conservative GOP party plank. Not much, but better than nothing."

His delegate status should be respective of party rules, not laws and legal status.

In the past when a candidate got out of the race they "ended" the compaign. Now we've apparently invented yet another reason to say one thing but mean another. Which means there is no SPECIFIC meaning to anything Santorum just did or said and there in lies the problem. Is he in or is he out? Well that depends, can't be the answer if we are going to communicate.

When we learned the words "see spot run" it meant...."see spot run". We didn't read aloud "see spot run" then turn to Robert Shapiro and whisper "what does that really mean?".

Bottom line:

Rick Santorum was not truthful when he stated he was "suspending" his campaign.

Anyway he is out and we MUST get behind Mitt!

It’s all a matter of choice. You can choose another 4 years of marxism, if you so choose, and apparently, you have. Enjoy what little freedoms you have left - hope we have a nice funeral for them.

Romney, was NOT my choice - never has been and never will be, but, he’s still a far better choice than obama.

So, save your rhetoric for someone who gives a da**.

I neglected to mention a few things in post #109.

I truly believe that Santorum supporters followed their convictions and I have no issue with that, just as the rest of us should follow ours.

They saw Santorum as a strong conservative, I did not. I see Newt as a strong conservative, they disagree.

Life will go on and some of will survive, while some of us won’t.... but that is the nature of life.

I believe that God needs to bless this country again, we, all of us, really do need it.

I think you have done an excellent job of describing our future.

Like it or not, we all now have front row seats for the apocalypse.

Thanks GOP-e

It’s funny; as a SANTORUM SUPPORTER I predicted this in my March 28th video:

“The Math is insurmountable but Newt’s Role is IMPORTANT”
http://youtu.be/az4R3eUOgaM in which I addressed the importance of having NEWT staying in this race.

It is apparent that the Romney Sleaze machine promised either the VP slot or a cabinet position.

I did NOT support Santorum for anything accept for President and I will NOT be bamboozled again by these charlatans pulling the strings in the GOP like Karl Rove. They can kiss my ass.

So our choice is supposed to be between a communist and a cultist - both of whom are pathological liars????

No, thank you, nothing has changed for conservatives. We must send money AND vote for Newt and still fight to our last dying breath to deprive this ignoble SOB the nomination.
And if he gets the nomination - I will find a conservative for whom to vote.

trying? he succeeded in what he was trying to do! (stop Gingrich)

Santorum’s sole goal from day one was to hand the nomination to Romney.

If you can't do a write-in on the Mail-In Ballots, go to the poll and vote in person.

I won't vote for those I'm TOLD I have choices for, when they're nothing but RINO's like Romney. We will never rid ourselves of the GOP-e giving us Liberals, with an (R) next to their name.

Let Willard put The Messiah back in the White Hut, which is what is going to happen now.

Yes he did. As someone else pointed out above, “suspension” also allows the candidate to hold on to their delegates until the convention. Don’t know if that’s true or not, but it makes sense.

The republicans gave us Dole, McCain and now Romney. They can’t be that stupid. That proves to me they’re in bed with the democrats. They’re all part of an elite group and they work together. We, the voters, are played for fools.

They are like divorce lawyers. They are all friends who went to the same few law schools, as did the judges. They estimate the size of the estate, then make the husband and wife fight until they have split all the possilbe funds. THEN they suggest a settlement.

"No. Santorum will no doubt continue to have elements of his campaign at work soliciting and trying to raise funds to pay off his debts. That can only be done while he has a campaign registered with the FEC. The public aspects of his campaign, speaking appearances, campaign stops etc. will suspend, but the campaign is not over. "

Ok I get it. I guess I don't understand the meaning of "campaign". In this context I thought that meant Rick Santorum was running for political office but I guess it really means soliciting funds and paying off debts. He is no longer running for president but he is still campaigning in suspended mode.....

Is George Bush still campainging? Is World War Two over or is it just suspended? I'm just curious....

Send Ricky more moolah, since he’s so honest, and only suspended the campaign. Don’t want him to go back to his roots at a steel mill, do you? By the way, I’m still waiting for the campaigns suspended 4 years ago, because the candidates were so “honest” to end.

I think Santorum suspending his campaign is way more than Bella's health. If he thought he had a Chinamen’s chance of winning the GOP candidacy he would've stayed in. He's polling here in PA and mathematically just couldn't pull it off.

"Ok I get it. I guess I don't understand the meaning of "campaign"."

That's obvious.

"In this context I thought that meant Rick Santorum was running for political office but I guess it really means soliciting funds and paying off debts."

Raising funds is part of a campaign. The FEC is very explicit about that, and the rules for doing so. That's the game in which Santorum is in at present, and consequently those are the rules and therefore the language by which he must abide. A "Suspended" campaign is placed in a certain legal status, which is different than an undeclared campaign or a campaign that has been concluded. It's no different than a person's dirver's license status which may be: 1) unlicensed, 2) learner's permit 3) fully licensed 4) restricted 5) suspended 6) revoked 7) expired.

If one has a revoked license but tells somebody their license is expired, they are being dishonest. You are the one that self-righteously demanded Rick be honest and forthright, and all Rick did was state the exact legal status into which he was placing his campaign. If he had stated he was going to wrap up and conclude his campaign he would have been lying.

"Is George Bush still campainging?"

I believe his campaign operations have been officially closed, but it's not uncommon for campaigns to solicit funds long after a race has been decided. IIRC, Hillary's campaign in 2008 remained active well into 2009 simply to raise funds to retire her campaign's debts. In order to do so, she would have been required to have kept her campaign in a "suspended" status during that timeframe with the FEC.

"Is World War Two over or is it just suspended? I'm just curious...."

Being that the axis powers formally (and legally) tendered their unconditional surrenders, it's over.

You're right. But his timing comes across as a classy exit and preserves his options for 2016.

All things considered, he made the right move. The republic is better served by reluctantly accepting an outside chance to elect a trainable RINO than in conceding defeat to a hard core Marxist.

LOL. I an actively working on getting all Conservatives I know to NOT vote for mitt, but do a write-in. We can still vote down the ticket for Conservatives.

Mitt and his staff and MOST of his supporters loathe Conservatives. Any Conservative that votes for Mitt will betray our Constitution. Mitt would do absolutely nothing to turn our Republic towards Liberty.

I will pray every day that Mitt will somehow be denied the nomination.
