Zimmerman's attorneys quit

[Updated at 4:52 p.m. ET] Attorney Hal Uhrig said he and attorney Craig Sonner still stand by what they've said previously in defense of Zimmerman. Sonner said he still believes Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense.

[Updated at 4:49 p.m. ET] The attorneys for George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer who authorities say fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Florida, say they're no longer representing him, because they have lost contact with him.

Attorneys Craig Sonner and Hal Uhrig say they last had contact with Zimmerman on Sunday. Since then, Zimmerman hasn't returned their phone calls or text messages, they told reporters Tuesday afternoon.

"He has gone on his own. I don't know what he's doing or who he's talking to," Sonner said. "... “I cannot represent client who doesn’t stay in contact with me.”

Zimmerman might want to consider leaving the country while he still has a passport. Would be fun watching the French tying themselves in knots about whether to extradite him to stand trial.

I think abandoning your client after 2 days is shaky. But if he is doing stuff outside the advice of attorneys, he’s absolutely stupid, and he’s going to make the situations worse.

The local Florida station that was broadcasting the live feed put up the headline “George Zimmerman Vanishes.”

I love the MSM.

Ok, that's a bizarre twist. Either Zimmer is a dunce or he knows that the prosecutors are gearing down.

He could come here to Canada. He wouldn’t be extradited for any offense that involves the death penalty. (For once, I wouldn’t be upset about an American fugitive using that rule for cover.)

If he’s smart, he’s in a country without an extradition treaty with the U.S. He has no other choice. We all know he was going to be arrested because the authorities are scared stiff of riots. Once arrested, it wouldn’t matter that he couldn’t get a fair trial, because he’d be murdered in jail before he could ever stand trial. If his attorneys were really on his side, they helped him.

Being that Zimmerman is a Democrat, his weltanschauung is probably upside down considering all the people he respected and was a part of are now actively destroying him. He is probably shuttered in someones basement wondering what happened to his old life. That is why he is shutting out the lawyers. He might not talk to anyone anymore. This guy probably really needs psychological help now after this.

Unless he has an inkling that his attorneys were about to sell him out. You can figure that even today buttons are being pushed with the Florida State Bar Association to try and influence any lawyer who would dare defend this racist murderer...

I thought he was Peruvian? If so, they have no extradite treaty with the US.

Not good. May G-d protect the innocent and move the guilty to repentance.

I sure hope he hasn't done anything desperate.

Very odd presser - more confusion and NO answers.

WTF has happened to our country???

I feel sick for this young man, to be forced to give up his entire life due to the vile racists driving our country to her knees.

Why do these lawyers assume Zimmerman should have “representation” when he is a free American citizen who did nothing wrong and has not been charged with a crime?

HE doesn’t have money for lawyers - so - were they doing this on constingency? Or were they wanting to get paid up front - from someone who is having to spend a pretty penny to survive somewhere - without a job?

Have we heard even one peep that he’s being protected by the law? EVen the Attorney General of the US is allowing a murderous group to put out a bounty on his head.

Not one word has been uttered against all the inciters of violence. INdeed, the AG is on record as defending the Black P’s - and of protecting ‘his people’ from prosecution. Would you bet your life that he wouldn’t use his power to track you down.

If his lawyers are demanding a face to face - do they expect him to go back to Florida for it?

I really do not llike lawyers.

Where would YOU go?
