A Florida special prosecutor has decided to charge neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, sources told ABC News.
The decision by Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey is expected to be announced at a 6 p.m. news conference in Jacksonville, Fla.
The prosecutor's ruling is certain to provoke controversy in Sanford, Fla., where shooting took place and across the country.
Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic neighborhood watch captain, shot and killed Martin, who was 17 and black, on Feb. 26 after following the teenager for several minutes.
The special prosecutor's ruling came one day after Zimmerman's legal team quit because they had lost contact with him, and suggested that the pressure of the case had "pushed him over the edge."(continued)

Angela Corey has a reputation for being non-political and professional, but I’m surprised by this charge. I took some heat here for claiming that Zimmerman isn’t a purely innocent victim, but I don’t think he was planning to kill anyone. Now I’m wondering if a plea bargain could be in the works?

White as in of Western European origin I am genetically and visually Caucasian. I am Spaniard and surprisingly 3rd gen Italian-American. I have no Meso-American bloodlines, no Aztec not Mayan, nor any "Latin" American Inca or any of the other aboriginal tribes of the meso or South Americas.
I did a geneology project for a human migration class and I took 2 DNA tests one for material mitocondrial DNA and one to trace my paternal male to male Y -DNA.
My mtDNA is Haplogroup H1 indicating Iberian maternal linage which is true my mother's side is from La Rojia in the northern mountain regions of Spain unconquered by the Moors or Berbers so my mtDNA carries no African mtDNA unlike some southern Spaniards who are mixed with Moors and Berbers after 700 years of occupation in the 8th to 15th century in Spain.
My Y-DNA Haplogroup R1b1a2 points to Andalusia again not a big surprise since I know when and how my fathers line came for outside Seville to the states. My father's mother was Italian her mother also Italian was bright redheaded but those females mtDNA stayed with my father I got my mothers mtDNA.
Hispanic as in being of Spaniard decent which I most certainly am.
I have Dark Chocolate hair and light brown eyes, my skin is paler and pinker than some of my redheaded Irish friends only my giant nordic 100% Swedish friends are pinker so yes "white Hispanics" Do very much exist. I burn much more than I tan but with repeated burnings I can hold a decent tan except for the bright white band where my board shorts cover and white raccoon eyes from the Oakleys. But over winter time sadly I'm back to a pasty whiteboy by spring break. My dead giveaway as being of Iberian and Northern Mediterranean decent is my nose I proudly have the Iberian honker! No sir, not all Hispanics are white Hispanics giving that Hispanic is an ETHNICITY not a race, you can be genetically and racial black and be Hispanic ask a Black Cuban. people of mixed bloodlines have names mulatto and mestizos to name a few. Those people could be Hispanic in ethnicity and not even close to racially Caucasian. Look at my post above I am a White Hispanic there are not many of us we are a rare and special breed literally. Zimmerman IS NOT A WHITE HISPANIC look at his skin and face he is a mestizos for sure and probably mulatto too.
I don’t mean to say this to offend you, of course there are people who are of mixed race.
It’s just that The NYT (in particular) never uses this phrase (per Dennis Prager), until just now, when it’s to their advantage - to stir up some racial annimosity.
My family is heavily bi racial (White, Black, Phillipino, etc.) but I honestly don’t look at them as “white black” or “white phillipno”. People are people - and I don’t doubt that you know this quite well.

That is one of the problems with trying someone in the press. You taint the jury pool.
I’m upset now that they have charged him with 2nd Degree Murder. However, I don’t think the prosecution will be able to convince 12 people, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Mr. Zimmerman is guilty. So, I’m a little “upbeat” but cautious.
The language I found at a Florida lawyer’s website of the elemements of the 2nd degree murder that must be proved by the prosecution....well they don’t look possible. Not if just 1 of the 12 stands there ground (no pun intended).
What has to be proved by prosecution:
(1)The victim is dead;
(2)The death was caused by the criminal act of the defendant;
(3)There was an unlawful killing of the victim by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life.
Parts two and three just can’t be proven to a reasonable jury. Especially (3). “Depraved mind without regard for human life.” Nope - Cannot be done.
No offense taken South Hawthorne, I was just showing everyone that White Hispanics do exist and Zimmerman is by no means one of them. I never use the term White Hispanic for myself I am White I do not speak Spanish nor Italian for that matter. I do speak American English as well as British English which I learned at a very young age in Irish Protestant school. I am a Caucasian who happens to also be a decedent of true Spaniards. There is nothing wrong with people who are mixed having pride in their mixed Hispanic heritage all Hispanics are after all some or totally decedent from Spaniards I see them as cousins but not brothers. But the media is pushing him as a “White” he is not he is mixed and should be labeled as such.
No matter what she claims, she had no choice or Sanford would burn. It may well burn anyway after a couple hung juries and his release.

In this case I think that is what they did.
I would expect there to be at least one black on the jury in normal circumstances. But in this case, how can they find one black in the jury pool area that hasn’t heard of the particulars and who hasn’t already made up his or her mind that Zimmerman is guilty. Also there should be at least one hispanic on the jury as well. It only takes one person to throw a monkey wrench into the process and keep them from a unanimous guilty verdict. I expect that there will be more than one who will have doubts once all of the evidence is heard. Sanford Fl, get your fire insurance up to date. For that matter, maybe all of us should be ready in case a full scale civil war breaks out. I have plenty of 30 cal M1 carbine ammo on hand, the perfect weapon for close range street fighting and home defense.

A politically correct lynch mob. They are charging Zimmerman to appease the mob, even though they know their case is extremely weak. They are raising expectations which is just going to add pressure to the situation. When those expectations are not met at trial, their will be an explosion. Remember, the Rodney King riots didn’t happen after he was justifiably beaten by the police, they happened after the police were justifiably acquitted at trial. That was, of course, before the federal “justice” department decided to subject the police to double jeopardy by retrying them in federal court.
There’s more evidence that Ted Kennedy was a murderer than George Zimmerman.
