The Vice Presidential speculation has begun and here is a possibility that intrigues me greatly.

This is just more RiNO chum and scum, spread around on the waters to try to interest conservatives in their dog of a candidate.

Keep your eyes on the ball, FReepers! DO NOT mentally concede the nomination while it is still possible to deny Romney and the RiNO's and break open the convention.

>> Eric Cantor would be a big asset in Virginia and Florida and he would appeal to many though not all conservatives with his voting record. He would also highlight concerns about Obama’s foreign policy and attract a large number of Jewish Democrats to cross party lines. <<

I disagree. Although I was never too keen on Cantor (too much establishment beltway mentality), I think he'd make an acceptable running mate and his voting record is fairly conservative. However, I don't think he'd make a dent into the Jewish vote at all.

It's similar to how Republicans continue to delude ourselves into thinking we'll win over more black votes when we run a black candidate. Even when a black Republican wins office, it's not thanks to black voters since they give 80% of their votes to the RAT candidate and will vote for a white RAT over a "fellow" black who has an "R" next to his name. The media kept pushing the idea that Jesse Jackson Jr. was "vulnerable" and would lose black voters. Nuh uh, never gonna happen. Instead, he won the 2010 general election by over 80% against a black Republican (and that's including white suburbs in the mix!) and then won the 2012 RAT primary by over 70% against a white Democrat, in a district that is now 2/3rd suburban and while he lost both Will. AND Kankakee county (but won over 90% of the vote in the black part of his district in Crook County).

It works the same way with Jewish votes. You can run all the pro-Israel Jewish Republicans you want, and they'll still overwhelmingly vote for the RAT candidate screaming "Free Palestine!" Some Republicans saw the results in NY-9 where a conservative Republican won huge with Jewish voters and thought that would translate nationally. The problem is that he won huge with ORTHODOX Jews, and they make up over 40% of Jewish voters in NY-9 (he still lost Conservative and Reform Jews). Nationally, Orthodox Jews are only 10% or so of the Jewish population. The fact we might sway some of them to vote Republican doesn't mean we'll make inroads into the "Jewish vote" as a whole, anyone that it means the Democrats will win big in the south overall because they do well in Maryland. Conservative, Reform, and secular Jews will still give 3/4ths or more of their votes to the RATs.

There was some poll out just this month that showed despite Obama's anti-Jewish record, only 30% of Jewish voters say they prefer a Republican over him in November, and over 60% say they're strongly committed to Obama (can't find the FR link, but here's the poll: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/03/us-usa-campign-jews-idUSBRE8320MH20120403 ) Obama won over 78% of the Jewish vote last time, and even though he was much more popular back then, it pales in comparison to what FDR, Clinton, and others got. Even when Walter Mondale LOST to Reagan in a 49-state landslide DEFEAT, he STILL got over 67% of the Jewish vote! Given that kind of data (I doubt Obama is going to lose 49 states), I think the GOP could resurrect Moses himself to be Romney's running mate and there would be a good chance Obama doesn't get under 70% of the Jewish vote. That segment of the population is completely wedded to the RAT party, no matter how much Republicans hope otherwise from election to election.

Haven’t you heard CF? Every Republican in a Congressional leadership position now or in the past (except for (since December) Newt Gingrich) is piece of crap RINO whom you should never consider voting for.

Cantor has been somewhat disappointing as a congressional leader but it’s not like he’s yellow snowe.

Anyway I think Cantor would help with Jews, nothing dramatic but enough to help in Florida, Jews are a little fungible now, unlike Blacks. I’m not so sure how much any House member would help in their home state, he’s never run statewide.

Ain’t that the truth. You have to start questioning the collective wisdom that labels everyone to be unacceptable (Mittens is at best a RINO though, there’s not much debate in that).

Cantor’s key to Florida is his Jewish heritage.
____________________________________________________________

Your attempt is respected and noted. However, Moses could raise from the dead and run as the VP candidate on the GOP Ticket and American Jews would still vote Democrat 70%. In the 2008 Election, 78% of the Jewish vote went to Obama. Yeah; a dude whose middle name is Hussein; imagine that. Now, Obama is polling at 70% among the American Jews even after the way he has disrespected Netanyahu (who hates Obama) and thrown the nation of Israel under the bus. Now, you think Eric Cantor; a Jew with a Southern twang; would win them over???? When pigs fly!

MARCO RUBIO FOR VEEP!!!

I live in Cantor’s district and I plan on voting against him on the June 12th VA primary if the Tea Party runs someone. FYI: The Tea Party is big in his district.

I'm talking with a "conservative" Perrybot now who is touting the idea of Condolezza Rice for Romney's veep and heaping praise on her for this article ( http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/220977-condoleezza-rice-i-dont-know-when-immigrants-became-the-enemy ) where she endorses Dick Lugar for re-election expresses dismay that "comprehensive immigration reform" wasn't passed during Bush's presidency. If it hasn't been posted on FR already, I may repost the article, because I doubt any conservatives here will jump in line to agree with Condi.

I explained to the guy that Rice is probably to the LEFT of Romney, and that Romney's not conservative to begin with. Now the guy tells me that not only does he agree with Condi that we should bring "undocumented" immigrants "out of the shadows" and give them amnesty, but he also agrees with Rice that "now is the time" for the Hamas-run Palestinian authority to get their own country next to Israel (nevermind the fact they've been vowing to wipe Israel off the map for the last 60 years) and that Israel should ko-tow to terrorist demands to "stop building settlements". He also has "no problems" with a pro-abortion Vice President.

This guy may be worse than the nutty Jon Huntsman supporter I met who insisted the Federation for American Immigration Reform was a Planned Parenthood front group. I'm surprised this guy was such a big Perrybot. Perry looks like Reagan next to this guy and Condi Rice.

No wonder we end up with so many RINOs in office, if you look at the kind of voters who mistakenly think of themselves as "conservative" when they agree with the left on numerous major policies. Why this guy sees himself as a staunch conservative is beyond me.

Filing for the primary is closed in VA.

Cantor drew one primary challenger, one Floyd Bane, a substitute teacher. Boy oh boy if only he was realtor he’d have a much better chance! Substitute teacher is worse than janitor and only a little better than lunch lady.

From his site it looks like he’s a Paulbot.

A substitute teacher is even less promising than someone whose purported “occupation” just cries out “third-tier candidate”: “law student” or “investor.” And a Paulestinian to boot!

Not that it matters, since Cantor will mop the floor with him in the primary, and in the unlikely event that Romney picks Cantor as his runningmate, the GOP would substitute Cantor on the congressional ballot with someone who wasn’t on the primary ballot.

I wish this person was kidding. Cantor is a whiny azz and he would make things worse.

Perhaps the simplest explanation is that he knows he isn't and is lying when he says he is.
