ALBANY - NAACP President Benjamin Jealous told an Albany Law School lecture hall on Wednesday afternoon the arrest of George Zimmerman is a "great moment for our country" even though it is long over due.
"People of Sanford (Florida) have been tortured," Jealous says, "Our country has been torn apart just waiting for the man to simply be arrested."
On that point, you'll find no disagreement from Alice Green of the Center for Law and Justice.
"It should have happened a long time ago," Green insists. "There was certainly always probable cause to arrest him and people are outraged because they understand that."
The problem for Albany Law School Professor Laurie Shanks is the perception that Zimmerman was treated differently then if the situation were reversed.
"The racial part of this is, the belief that most of us who have been working in the criminal justice system have seen, that if a black man had shot an unarmed white man, he would be arrested," Shanks said.
"If it takes this long to get an arrest, something is wrong with the entire department," opined Albany Law School Professor Anthony Paul Farley.
Farley thinks the real crime was committed by Sanford Police. He believes the case was bungled from the onset and that detectives need to be arrested.
"One fears for any black person in Sanford, Florida," he says. "One fears for anybody who knows a black person in Sanford, Florida. One fears for anyone in Sanford, Florida with a police department like that."
Also problematic, according to Jealous, is the Florida law that allows residents to carry concealed handguns and not have to worry about backing down from a confrontation.
"We parted ways with Wild West justice a long time ago in this country," Jealous says, "Unfortunately, the Stand Your Ground Law is threatening to bring it back. It has brought it back in some places."
The law school consensus seemed to be that the Trayvon Martin Case had nothing to do with Stand Your Ground. They believe it had everything to do with racial profiling.
If there is a silver lining, Benjamin Jealous says it might be that the country is having its first honest conversation about racial profiling and he's hopeful that will lead to something beneficial.
Not only is the conversation recorded, but after the incident Zimmerman went out to the apartment complex with the police and went over the whole incident, step-by-step, and that was all recorded.
How do you think Zimmerman received a broken nose and a bloody wound on the back of his head? That he did that himself? A witness described how that head wound occurred, as Trayvon was seen beating the crap out of Zimmerman before a shot was heard.

It’s the same senseless chit that police have to go through everytime a black kid gets shot down for pointing a gun at the officer.

George Zimmerman is getting railroaded but I have no doubts a jury is going to be hung or straight acquittal. It only takes one sympathethic person, and in light of how many people carry concealed in Florida, and how many people are now seeing the light on WHO is responsible for most of the crime, a sympathetic ear is not going to be hard to find.
Nothing has changed since the sixties. As soon as blacks start taking about blood in the streets the white power structure goes weak in the knees and the next thing you know a non-black gets arrested by some prosecutor and charged with murder. When the New Black Panthers made their threats the first thing out of Tallahassee should have been the National Guard sent to Sanford FL to control the streets and make damn sure that whites were protected from this out of control fringe group. But that never happened. The white power structure got that deer-in-the-headlights stare. This non-black who was doing a thankless job will never get a fair trial because a jury acquittal of him will spark another black backlash. OJ was acquitted for the very same reason. Don’t believe in patterns? It’s called riot insurance! Meanwhile if you want to read about attacks on white folk by blacks in the U.S. which happen fifteen times more frequently than the other way around, you have to go to The Times of London for the reporting, as the MSM in the U.S. will never report black on white assaults. Or if it does the skin color of the perpetrators is never revealed. America is getting what it deserves, a 12 percent minority endowed with superior rights and privileges so now whites will be completely unable to defend themselves from attack by any minority including illegals from Mexico without being charged with a hate crime. This is what the elite power structure has been working on for the past fifty years. It’s called national suicide.
They scream "unarmed" as if fists feet and teeth cannot serve as weapons.

They compare the ages of those involved, as if a 17 year old male is incapable of mayhem, and a 28 year old male is an invincible killing machine.
They even compare weights as if staging a prize fight.
All must be "fair"! There is no other measure!
How many times must your head bounce on the pavement before you may assume that your life is at risk? Must you wait until it stops bouncing, when your skull fractures, before acting to save your life?
Just dial 911 and die. You might even get your name in the paper1
