An affidavit of probable cause in Florida's case against George Zimmerman for the shooting death of an unarmed 17-year-old says Zimmerman "profiled" Trayvon Martin.
Forty-seven days after Martin was shot and killed in a Sanford, Fla., neighborhood, a solemn Zimmerman made his first court appearance Thursday, wearing gray jail coveralls and speaking only a few words as his arraignment was set for next month.
Zimmerman faces a charge of second degree murder in the 17-year-old's death.
Seminole County Judge Mark Herr, who spoke via a closed-circuit television connection during the four-minute hearing, set Zimmerman's arraignment for May 29 and said all matters including bond and further motions in the case will be handled by Circuit Court Judge Jessica Recksiedler going forward.
Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, did not ask that Zimmerman be released on bond, although he said earlier in the day he wanted his client released as soon as possible.
He did note, however, that being out on bail could jeopardize Zimmerman's safety....

If there are strangers in our neighborhood they are damn right profiled—we don’t care if they are yellow, blue or green. If they are out of place, someone is going to find out what they are up to. Of course, that usually comes as a question like—are you lost or can I help you find a particular neighbor?—and just let me get close enough to jot down your tag number if they have a vehicle.
Where on his website is he accepting donations? I would like to help but couldn’t find it.
My point is that it was created and funded by the government. How can it be wrong?

The fact is this: Zimmerman never mentioned race until the 911 operator asked, "OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?" Zimmerman replied, "He looks black."
Exactly. Criminals want you to ignore that little voice in your head, which has been with us for millenia, that tells us that this person or situation is not right.

No. Zimmerman's attorney said today that bond would be set in the next week or two and by then he hoped to have arrangements for someplace safe by then.
Damned right. I live in what would politely be called a “mixed” neighborhood. Pretty cool folks all around, though....working class black families all around; they take care of their homes, yards, etc. Average working stiffs. Mix in some yuppies and retirees and some other white or oriental blue collar types....that’s my ‘hood.
I guarantee if a group of 3 or more “urban youts” came walking back into my cul-de-sac, I’d be standing at my door with a loaded .45 or .357 magnum in my hand, at the ready. I’m dead serious.

There is nothing wrong with profiling, whether we do it as private citizens or leo’s do it. It is common sense.
I haven’t read that. Where was that reported? From what I read about O’Mara it seemed Zimmerman contacted him directly.
Zimmerman did contact him directly. An atty from Fla said this afternoon that the state will pay him because Zimmerman is indigent.
