First lady wades into controversy
By Alicia M. Cohn - 04/12/12 12:33 PM ET
First lady Michelle Obama on Thursday advocated "respect" for women who work as stay-at-home moms in the wake of controversial comments about Ann Romney's decision to stay at home and raise her sons.
Obama made the comments on her official twitter account.
Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be respected. mo

It was the first time Obama weighed in on the controversy raging between veteran Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's campaign. Rosen asserted that Ann Romney was unable to weigh in on the economic issues effecting women because she has "never" worked outside the home.
Signing the tweet "-mo" is an indication that Michelle Obama personally sent the tweet, a signal that the Obama campaign deployed the first lady as their best defense against critics connecting the remarks of a prominent Democratic adviser to the position of the president.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) also expressed disappointment in Rosen's remarks Thursday. The Republican National Committee had demanded earlier in the day that she ask Rosen, who they call a DNC adviser, to apologize.
Disappointed in @hilaryr 's comments. As a mother of 3 theres no doubt that raising children is work.

Wasserman Schultz and the first lady are only the latest high-profile Democrats to condemn the remarks, made by Rosen during a CNN panel on Wednesday night.
His wife has actually never worked a day in her life, Rosen said of Ann Romney during a discussion on CNN's "AC360" Wednesday night. Shes never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and how do we why we worry about their future.
Democrats seemed to realize that Rosen's remarks gave the Romney campaign fodder to reframe their argument that it's the Obama administration, not Republicans, who are waging a "war on women." Obama's campaign manager Jim Messina and senior adviser David Axelrod immediately began to distance themselves from the comments the previous day, also using Twitter.
Romney's campaign jumped on the comments to rally around Ann Romney as a hard-working mother.
"My career choice was to be a mother," Ann Romney said on Fox News earlier Thursday. "And I think all of us need to know that we need to respect choices that other women make."
Despite taking criticism from her own party, Rosen did not back down Thursday, continuing to defend her point that Romney is hiding behind his wife to defend his economic policies toward women.
She also tweeted Romney who joined Twitter Wednesday night specifically to respond to the controversy that while she admires her as a person, she should not speak for the women unable to make the choice to stay at home full-time.
@AnnDRomney I am raising children too. But most young American women HAVE to BOTH earn a living AND raise children. You know that don't u?

Some RAT actually figured it out? Before or after the headline -
I have no interest in what this Ghetto Trash, First Occupant has to say.
Is Hilary Rosen on crack?
Indeed, she should worry more about the quality men her homosexual husband is getting while she has to settle with this trash called Zero.
Women in this country have been shafted big time and are getting stuck on super stupid.
Has anybody ever seen so many and so often the “walking back” of public comments made by the Zerobama’s and their sluts and nuts in the DNC and White House?
I’m still trying to figure out if it’s gross incompetence, criminal stupidity or an even mixture of both. What a bunch of clowns these gits are.
They hate lesbians! /s
This affects about 149,999,993 more people than this stupid George Zimmerman crap and I, for one, don’t want to see it let go of under any conditions. It may bore me, it may irritate me. That’s fine. I will be bored and irritated with glee. This is an immense gift and should be pressed home all the way to election day.
Puleeeze, I thought this was a family friendly site ;-)
If any these women were carrying a child pre-diagnosed with Downs they’d have it killed.
Michelle had to get a $300,000 a year affirmative action job in Chicago in order to support her kids. Some mother she is.
bad visuals ... ewww
Decent of MO to back up Ann Romney. Obviously the Obamas are glad to have an opponent like Mitt Romney who they will play like a fiddle.
Isn't there some kind of play about that?
I think it's a deliberate tactic. The comments are appreciated by die hard supporters. It also serves as a diversion from the other nasty things the administration is doing. (Not that the LSM would report on them anyway.) For those being attacked and attacked often, it's almost a form of abuse.

Michelle Obama’s $300K “Job” at Hospital Obama Got Earmarks for Eliminated
You might remember this one...
After Barack Obama became an Illinois state legislator, his wife moved up as well, scoring a job as ‘vice president of community relations’ at the University Of Chicago Hospital for a very generous salary of $121,910. When Obama became a senator in 2005, her ‘salary’ leapfrogged to $$316,962 for the same job...and one of Senator Obama’s first acts in office was to see to it that the hospital received over a million dollars of your tax dollars as an earmark.
Well, Michelle has moved on,and guess what...that vital job of hers, worth a salary of over $300 K has been quietly eliminated.
It’s the Chicago Way, cushy no-show jobs in exchange for political patronage...fist bump.
Of course, she had to work twice as hard to get half as far. She said so, so it must be true.
But I wonder, is this so very different that what Rod Blagojevich was popped for? Except that Blagojevich got caught and embarrassed everybody?
Title should read ,,, “First Lady pisses off housewives by telling them ho to raise and feed their children”.
Moochelle ought to get a real job and pay US back for all the tax payer money she has squandered on getting trying to even with whitey .
Every liberal I’ve ever met looks down on mothers who stay home and raise families. Everyone of ‘em.
I’m still trying to analyze Greta’s strong defense of Rosen’s statement when discussing it with Rove last night. She was so off the wall that now her credibility on every issue will forevermore be questionable.
This is another have cake/eat too manuever by Zero and his gang of thugs (which includes his racist anti-American wife). Oh, gee, these are not good comments, although we won’t point out that it was one of our fellow Democrats making them.
