IMHO it's game over already and we just don't know it yet. Economically we have past the point of no return. We can't recover from 16 Trillion in debt and 100 Trillion in unfunded mandates. It's just mathematically impossible. Socially we have past the tipping point where over half of the people rely on the other have to produce. The Rats are taking us over the cliff at 100 mph (in a Volt), the GOP is taking us over the cliff at 80 mph. the end result is the same.
I think you are mostly right.
The two things that keep me from giving up are my children (my two Marine sons, and my beautiful daughter) and my brand-new grandson.
