George Zimmerman case could hit 2012 presidential race

Could George Zimmerman be the October surprise?

Depending on the timing of legal developments in Florida, the court proceedings and possible trial of Trayvon Martin’s killer - one of the highest-profile and most racially charged cases in years - could be thrust into the middle of the 2012 presidential election.

Legal experts and political consultants disagree over what that would mean for President Barack Obama and the presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

In recent press appearances, Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, predicted that it would be at least six months and possibly as long as a year before his client faces a trial. The short end of that would put the case smack in the homestretch of the White House contest, while the long end would make the trial a non-factor in the presidential contest.

But there’s another scenario that makes it more likely that the case could play into the 2012 race.

Under the so-called “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida — the controversial measure that until this week had allowed Zimmerman to avoid an arrest after the Feb.26 shooting in Sanford – the accused can ask for an “evidentiary hearing” to try to have their case tossed out. That hearing could take place within a matter of months...

George Zimmerman case could hit 2012 presidential race

No matter the outcome..

you bet the White House wants to make it a part, and so do the the aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus spoiled brats and their bratty ideological issue, arguably the Establishment.

Obama been laudin' that black theology of liberation and revolution.. it's now or never.

For fifty years their control of the media has given us what I call NBC-style "cherry bomb" journalism and things seem ready to explode.. and the president himself is the biological-ideological issue of 1960s Marist-Alinsky campus spoiled brats.

So here they are.. Obama-and-sons' America.. it's now or never for them.

The “lesser charges” must already be there for the jury to consider. I think manslaughter is not on the list here; it’s just the one count.

2DV, I don’t think he will try to control the riots per se. He might try to DIRECT them to some as yet unconfirmed goal.

Whatever it is, it is most certainly a bad, bad thing for our nation.

But I don’t expect a mission change from this administration...

If there was a lot more, it should have been in the complaint, right?

That is one of Dersh’s points.

Well that’s too bad because this is about gun grabbing as well and trying to knock down many “Stand your ground” laws.

Firstly, it’s already part of the presidential race, duh. Secondly, no, it can’t be the “October surprise,” because it wouldn’t be a surprise since we know it’s coming, duh. Also, and more importantly, the “surprise” isn’t a surprise to everyone. It gets leaked, blown up, or what have you on purpose.

The only way this could fit would be for some secret piece of evidence to pop up come October, but I doubt that. The prosecutor could drop the charges suddenly, but that wouldn’t help Obama, so no. I’d like to think hacks looking for website hits would think these things through at least as thoroughly as the few seconds I’ve given them. But no.

"I’m starting to think that’s why he was charged with 2nd degree murder, rather than manslaughter or some such."

Based on the documents that Dershowitz was talking about, I'm starting to think that the reason the special prosecutor charged Zimmerman is because she's not very smart and is not a very good lawyer. She's probably not used to prosecuting defendants with an IQ above room temperature or sparring with good lawyers. If somebody told her to do this, they didn't think it through.

“I will laugh my big ol’ butt off if he's exonerated at the evidentiary hearing or even before. Good luck controlling those riots, Barry.”

The evidence is 100% clear that Neighborhood Watch Capt. Zimmerman was acting completely within the law and entirely within his responsibly as an NW officer.

The judge will have no choice but to free Capt. Zimmerman and will do so when Zimmerman will be safe on the outside.

“They want to kill Stand Your Ground, so what do they do? They pick a case where the victim was flat on his back being beaten to death, and shot his attacker precisely because he COULDN’T stand his ground.”

Yeah, but cut them some slack. They saw the name “Zimmerman” and thought they could exploit the white/black thing. How could they know? Aside from doing a modicum of research. But who has time for that; rabble-rousing waits for no man.

Turns out they can exploit it even though the white half isn’t white in a traditional sense. Though he’s white in a spiritual sense, or something.

The Obama loving Florida media is reporting today that the lawyer for Zim thinks any trial that happens won’t even occur until 2013.

This is all about energizing his most reliable section of his base. Think about it, if they have to be energized Zero is in sorry shape! Now I am now saying they would vote GOP, but that they wouldn't turn out. Doing this may energize his base, but it will drive away any independents that are thinking about returning the the zero fold.

It won’t play well...Obama’s approval ratings are already going down. A race riot won’t help him one bit.

The journ-o-listers are beginning to sense that this case may turn out to be more like the OJ Simpson case where in the end only the black demographic believes the narrative.

Bingo. How many would have voted for a guy who said he believed that O.J. could find the real killers?

It seems some Journ-O-Listers have finally cracked the history books and discovered, to their horror, that race rioting and hippies on the rampage are NOT helpful to Democrats.

The Race baiting has spilled over into normally quiet College towns in the North part of Florida, It's going to be a long hot summer, and Obummer did all he could to fan the flames to a dangerous level for Floridians. and the tourist who visit Florida this summer.

Re: “Democrat George Zimmerman”

I searched his political donation records for Florida and Virginia and found nothing.

I think $250 is the public disclosure threshold, so that means he may have contributed, but LESS than $250.

If Zimmerman contributed to Barack Obama’s campaign - no matter how little - that would be a PR bombshell against the race hustlers!
