Cavuto: Ann Romney hasn't had it easy
Fox News ^ | 4-13-12 | Neil Cavuto

Posted on 04/13/2012 3:50:39 PM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

So Ann Romney doesn't have any real life experiences?

Doesn't know a thing about difficulty?

Or pain?

…that her gilded life has shielded her from the day-to-day concerns of average folks?

Now, you would think after Hilary Rosen spouted that nonsense, we would be done debating this nonsense.

But you'd be wrong.

Here to pick up the shovel and happily dig an even deeper clueless pit…no less than the president of NOW, the National Organization of Women...Terry O'Neill.

…happily chiming in that neither Ann Romney nor her husband, for that matter, have the, and I quote here, "Kind of life experience and if not, the imagination, to really understand what most American families are going through right now."

What?

What the hell does that mean?

"Life experience" and "imagination"?

I suspect either would be news to Ann Romney.

...whose charmed life raising six boys, no less, apparently couldn't prevent her from getting cancer.

And only a few years later, multiple sclerosis.

The odds of getting both in one lifetime, are about as daunting and rarified as living in that supposedly cushy one percent…times a thousand!

I should know.

Because full disclosure here…I too have had cancer. And I too have MS.

Now, I’m not saying this not to get your sympathy…although it’ll be coming in handy If might rub you the wrong way or if I can get out of work at home.

But to remind these mindless, heartless critics –Let’s get back to Ann, stick to the issues, and stick all this other nonsense somewhere else.

And for God's sake, show a little empathy.

~snip~

I've known much poorer folks who'd stop everything for a hangnail.

Who gives a rats @ss about Ann Romney. She isn’t running for president and whether she works or doesn’t is inconsequential. We are in a ridiculous news cycle.

I thought since we women are liberated, that means we could, among other things, choose our own life paths. I guess women are only “liberated” if they have a career and a staff to raise their children.

These feminists are a bunch of ignorant jerks. Mercifully they don’t represent all women

Kind of how I feel about it too--- "Sticks and stones" and all that.

That being said, I'll still never vote for her spineless liberal husband.

I am not a fan of Mitt Romney, and you’re correct that we’re in a ridiculous news cycle. That said, it’s painfully obvious that you didn’t read the article....

Weren't the primaries where you could vote against (or not vote for Romney)?

If every conservative American voter thinks the way you do (and acts on it) — then the whole world will be stuck with Obama for another 4 years (at least!). I'm beginning to wonder whether Americans, in general, can be trusted with the franchise in American national elections.

Yeah, you can tell me to go to 83!!, and point out the obvious fact that a foreigner has no say in your elections. We (foreigners) do, however, have to suffer the consequences. You have the franchise. For everyone’s sake, use it wisely!

Obama hates women and Obama hates hispanics. Looks pretty clear to me.

Just so long as conservatives don't go off in a snit at election time. Actually, I'm hoping you have a brokered convention & there's an upset there in favour of a better candidate. (Such conventions are the norm here in Canada; so I admit that I have a hard time understanding why so many are against a brokered convention.)

You might not, however she single handedly slapped down the entire democratic party this week.

Putting Romney aside for a moment, I actually think a brokered convention would be great and a plus for the GOP.
Why you may ask ‘Why do I say that?’, because there would be drama and interest in the convention. People might actually watch it and pay attention, even learn something maybe be inspired. Conventions where the candidate has already been decided are usually nothing more then bad variety shows. The last GOP convention did have a little more excitement then usual with the Palin pick, but even that was unusual.

30 states down, 20 to go. Sounds like our Victorian friend gets too much of his news from the MSM.

What “most American families are going through right now” is not related to MS and cancer. Cavuto’s presenting a strawman argument. Trump understands the mindset of people who actually have to work for a living. Mitt Romney doesn’t, not even close, not a chance. His wife tries a little harder but most likely doesn’t either. I don’t care how much money someone has, but show me some evidence that you’ve made an effort to understand and get to know people from different walks of life if you’re going to try to represent 300 million people.

If that would get us a decent candidate I’d be all for it. But I’m not convinced the Republican establishment could be trusted to give us a decent candidate even in a brokered convention. I trust them about as far as I can throw the Eiffel Tower.

As I’ve said elsewhere, I’d vote for worms from my trashcan if that’s what it took to get rid of Obama. No way I will ever vote for him. And I will encourage others to effectively vote against him as well, even if we have to plug our nose and drink a bottle of whiskey before we can bring ourselves to do it.

Mitt Romney has an MBA and did and does work for a living. He grew up in the heartland of America.

Much moreso than the community organizer, who knows nothing and is stunningly ignorant about what America is and how it works.

I just have to believe that a raised-here American would do better than Obama - with a caveat that they are not steeped in Marxism.

I do think Mr. Romney is not a Marxist, petulant, ignorant of our history, or that he will seek to drown us in debt. I wish he were someone else, but I have grown sick and tired of every Democrat and I will so happily see them lose in a landslide, even to Mickey Mouse.
