The line runs rather directly from Sarah Palin hatred to Ann Romney hatred
Legal Insurrection ^ | April 14, 2012 | Professor William A. Jacobson, esquire

A post at Bookroom Worm exploring the attacks on Ann Romney is getting a lot of attention:

This transcends Leftist feminist sensibilities and touches upon a core issue in statism — namely, who raises the children? ….

I am the counterweight to the state. Therefore, I am dangerous. I am subversive simply by existing. My love for my children is a dominant force that works its way into their psyches and that trumps the state-run schools and the state complicit media world. Some mothers, of course, are entirely in sync with schools and media. They happily reinforce the statist message. But those of us who don’t are a powerful anti-statist force and we must be challenged….

The Left’s problem with Ann Romney is that she represents the triumph of the individual. No wonder they hate her so much.

That may be part of it.

I also look to a more basic reason, the same reason why they hated Sarah Palin so much:

Why do they hate her so much? She’s happy. Unhappy people can’t stand happy people.

As others have noted, Obama rallies are not happy events. Neither is the Obama campaign. There is an angry tone, a desire for revenge against those who supposedly have done the people wrong, a settling of old scores. While Obama preaches hope, the “subtext” of his campaign is anger and frustration. For all the times I have seen Obama on television, only once or twice have I seen him laugh.

The mainstream media is no better. Is there a single happy person at MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC (well maybe not ABC), CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, or elsewhere in the bastions of the elite media? Palin’s happiness simply is something that cannot be tolerated by the unhappy people who run traditional news organizations.

The line runs rather directly from Sarah Palin hatred to Ann Romney hatred.

Read this Judith Warner column from September 4, 2008, about her “adventure” attending a Palin rally:

"No, it wasn’t funny, my morning with the hockey and the soccer moms, the homeschooling moms and the book club moms, the joyful moms who brought their children to see history in the making and spun them on the lawn, dancing, when music played. It was sobering. It was serious. It was an education."

“Palin Power” isn’t just about making hockey moms feel important. It’s not just about giving abortion rights opponents their due. It’s also, in obscure ways, about making yearnings come true — deep, inchoate desires about respect and service, hierarchy and family that have somehow been successfully projected onto the figure of this unlikely woman and have stuck."

Then read this Judith Warner column from April 13, 2012 (emphasis mine):

"That the Democrats felt such a need to throw [Hilary] Rosen under a bus suggests to me that they, like the Romney campaign itself, are guilty both of knee-jerk cynicism in regards to female voters and of being out of touch. We all know, on the one hand, that there’s a certain portion of the population that feels not just left behind but generally dissed by what they identify as the evolution of attitudes and mores in our era: they’re the Sarah Palin constituency."

Finding happiness through a stubborn refusal to accept the state as master not as servant.

It’s a philosophy which once could have been described as liberal, but now is denigrated by people who consider themselves liberal.

I think there’s something to that.

From what I read Ann Romney is a pro-choice liberal and all her friends are Democrats. So they are attacking one of their own.

The left have for a long time hated motherhood. That is nothing new, I am surprised at the attention its been getting to tell the truth.

I think the line runs to any Republican female they want to destroy, and that is whichever one is between them and their cause. With Sarah there were plenty of Republican women who jumped in to help the Democrats.

Needs repeating.

On the day Andrew Breitbart died, William Jacobson wrote:

I’ve often wondered where to go with this blog. I now know.

Since then it seems to me that his blog has become edgier, more confrontational. That will probably not advance his career at Cornell Law School, but it has certainly improved the blog.

Has anyone considered that homeschooling might be the ultimate target in all of this?

Stay-at-home moms often engage in homeschooling their kids, after all.

Homeschooled kids are not controlled by union-led, Leftist-indoctrinated teachers who stress the importance of polar bears and free condoms in middle schools, while ignoring the Constitution and U.S. history. Such kids pose a threat to the Leftist dream of a socialist utopia.

Just wondering.

Besides the fact that they are both women, there is not much to compare.

One is the standard bearer for limited-government, Tea-Party conservatism

The other is an excuse maker for a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal.

I’ll leave it to everyone to figure out which one is which.

Slnce Ann Romney is a liberal like her husband, I can’t figure out why the left dislikes her.

Interesting. All I’ve heard from the left IS anger and that Mrs Romney is a rich B**** that never had to work a day in her life and never had to deal with day to day streses like all other non elite women have to do. Yep sounds like there is a parallel here. I couldn’t understand the Romney hate nor Palin but it’s making sense there’s a pattern here. I think it’s demonic but again I’m kind of a mystic.

My first gut feel was that the lesbian Hillary was bitter and resentful of Ann for having a normal family.

The left is a twisted bunch.

I'm definitely buying another 1000 rounds of 9mm for the wife before mid summer and the turmoil I expect. Probably a like amount of 12 gauge...

9mm getting expensive nowadays, not to mention other pistol ammunition. Many people scoff at .22 LR, but would you want to be hit by one? BTW, almost all hits, assassinations and wetwork is performed with .22 LR.

I've heard a couple of things about .22. (other than it being cheap fun) I've heard it is harder to do ballistics on - maybe due to the small size or some tendency of the bullets to fragment? I've also heard that due to the proportions/weight of the round it penetrates very well. And yes, I've heard that it is a round used in assassinations. (maybe due to the aforementioned characteristics?)

No, I wouldn't want to get shot by one.

Yes, 1000 round case of 9mm going for $289 in these parts. But that is standard Federal FMJ stuff, not the JHP I'd prefer for real stopping power.

I've got an old 22 LR scoped rifle... May be time to clean it up and put it back into service. It can reach out further than the wife's 9mm or my 12ga...

Your absolutely on target. It is so obvious that all the technology exists to enhance home schooling and has for many years. You can easily receive a college degree today without to much of a problem. My experiences with families that have home schooled have raised fantastic children that could think for themselves. Not that the public system today doesn’t. It’s not all bad. However, more emphasis should be paid to home schooling. It would relieve the communities of millions of dollars of expansion needs and teachers. There is the rub. Teachers, union teachers, what would the unions do? They wouldn’t be able to control the agenda of the country and consequently their existence would be chanllenged. Couldn’t happen soon enough for me. I’m not condeming teachers, it’s their unions and the principles they promote that are dangerous for this country.

Might also be because it is rimfire, not centerfire?
