Bachmann 'Very Seriously Looking Into' Romney Endorsement
National Journal ^ | April 15, 2012 | Alexandra Jaffe

Posted on 04/15/2012 10:06:19 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stopped just short of endorsing Mitt Romney on Sunday, saying she was “very seriously looking into an endorsement.”

“I think we're seeing a uniting and a pulling together around our eventual nominee," she said on NBC’s Meet the Press. "And I have said that I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the mainstream, conservatives, evangelicals, the tea party movement. I want to unite our party.”

Bachmann dropped out of the GOP primary race in early January and has yet to endorse any of her former opponents. But with only three candidates left in the race, and Romney the presumptive nominee, Bachmann has little to lose endorsing Romney. And perhaps little to gain as well.

Still, Bachmann offered glowing praise of Romney on Sunday, a man she once derided, along with Newt Gingrich, as an establishment, insider candidate. In debates and elsewhere, she referred to both men collectively as "Newt-Romney."

But on Sunday, Bachmann called Romney "an extremely smart guy," saying that Americans lives will be "far more improved with a proven, smart, successful businessman like Mitt Romney than someone like Barack Obama, who can only blame his predecessor for his current economic poor choices.”

It’s not too late for Newt, and unless a person wants to be stuck choosing between shooting the country in the heart and shooting the country in the brain, they need to get hard behind Newt - because he is literally the only thing standing between us and having to choose between death (Romney) and death (Obama) for this country.

That option is not even thinkable. We MUST NOT let it happen. Now is when the battle between conservative and liberal begins, rather than conservative against conservative. At this point a vote for anybody but Newt is suicide.

MB was brought in to HELP MITT! She NEVER say one word against mitt but trashed Perry vehemently!

I despise her for selling out our country for her political gain and NOT ONE thought of our soldiers who gave their life for what she just gives away. Another fool who satan has used for his agenda. An endorsement from her was given on the debate floor - one would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to not know she stamped herself as mitt's whore with her paid acting during the debates. It was ugly to watch - she's one ugly b*^ch within.

She already endorsed him in the debates - this is not news but OLD news - like her - she’s a washed up political whore, used by Mitt. Not a shred of decency in her.

Newt’s the only one who can pull us out of this mess

HE IS. God gave us/USA Sarah and then Newt. The same TWO who Mitt has used his tactics/lying non stop to try and destroy. Mitt IS EVIL, this is EVIL against Good. Anyone who has voted to keep Newt down in any way is satan's tool.

Like West or Palin.

I'm thinking West. I don't think Sarah wants DC at all!

Fred Grandy Interviews Newt Gingrich [Secure Freedom Radio] "Presidential candidate and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich shares his foreign policy strategy for Middle East. Gingrich touches on every country of the region from Iran to Saudi Arabia to Turkey and finally Afghanistan and speaks about the policies that would be implemented in a Gingrich Presidency."

April 10, 2012: “On Monday, Herman Cain was offering Mitt Romney advice on who to pick as a running mate. On Tuesday, Cain ..snip..called on the GOP to get behind Mitt Romney.”

Well, I was never on the Cain Train, The Bachmann-Tourette's Overdrive Team, so I can say blcccchh to both of them.

What will FReepers do if, er, when Newt endorses Romney. I seem to remember Santorum getting raked over the coals here when he basically said a vote for Romney was as bad as voting for Obama. Of course had Newt said it he would have been praised to the hilt. The cult like adoration of Newt around here is kinda scary. It's almost like he replaced Palin as the chosen one and if you don't worship at the shrine of Newt your obviously a RINO Romney supporter. Yet if you go back 6-9 months that certainly wasnt the case.

Incidentally, I blame Palin for giving us Romney. Had she run she would have locked up the conservative vote (Bachmann and Perry if not pthers probably wouldn't have run) and would have given Romney a run for his money. In fact she'd probably be our nominee right now.

Palin: (9:23-9:37 ) “I am convinced that governor Romney, if he is our nominee and if he is elected president, he will know to surround himself with those that will inherently know to go right, to err on the side of smaller, smarter government and that gives me a lot of confidence.”

Wow she used the words confidence and Romney in the same sentence! Palin must be the biggest RINO/CINO of all. /s

Congressmen just as conservative as Michele Bachmann have already endorsed or come very close to endorsing Romney (Ryan, Rubio, DeMint). Heck even Gingrich said if Romney gets the nomination he’ll support him. Why all the hate for Bachmann? The goal is getting rid of Obama - the biggest disaster we’ve ever had as president.

The day Palin gives her official endorsement of Romney (and she will) this place is gonna have a meltdown.

It’s already too late, and yes, you folks let it happen by refusing to support Santorum when he had a chance to beat Romney.

I’m not supporting Gingrich since he’s done nothing but help Romney this entire primary.

Romney is like a disease that is devouring ever conservative and conservative principle in his path. He truly is a one man GOP wrecking machine.

IMO Romney will get the nomination. So no matter who you supported, it’s time for all of us to coalesce behind the candidate that will receive the nomination. You may not like Romney but what will the choice be? Romney or Obama??

If you say you are not going to vote, then the Community Organizer in Chief will be reelected where he will continue to destroy this wonderful country. Do you want this to happen???

I am a member of the local Republican Party and what we see is more independents and liberals that are dissatisfied with Obama. Whether you like it or not we NEED these people to defeat Obama.

Last time checked Mittens still didn't have enough delegates to be the nominee. Last time I checked Santorum quit.

Now I didn't much like little ricky because he's a phony and I suspect a closet fudge packer, but I was willing to hold my nose and vote for him if he became the nominee. Instead he quit. The little sweater vest wearing pansy quit.

And Newt is all that is left. Obamney only has half the delegates he needs. The battle isn't over. Not by a long shot.

BTW, ricky did nothing but help Mittens this entire primary.

Newsflash, calling Santorum a ‘closet fudge packer’, isn’t going to get me to vote for Newt. Quite the opposite.

What’s Newt’s plan to deny Romney the nomination? He’s a distant 4th in PA, and that’s his best shot of winning any states in the next batch.

This is why they keep giving us RINO’s.

They will keep going farther and farther left until conservatives stop supporting them.

JC, that’s exactly the claim that the Gingrich people have leveled against Santorum.

I’ve been agnostic between Gingrich and Santorum, just hoping that one or the other would catch on to a level where they could run with it. At one point I suggested that they meet together and let God decide which would be the Pres and which the VP candidate, by casting lots and seeing if there would be a clear, unanimous indication. That didn’t happen; instead both candidates dug in.

Right now we don’t have the luxury of scorched earth. The most important things that Santorum stood for are the same things that Gingrich stands for. Either we let the conservative who’s left carry the torch, or the torch will be dropped and Romney will do what he wants.

It’s been a long hard haul with lots of agents provocateur, lots of circular firing squads, and raw emotions because everything we love is on the line.

We need to hold onto those things we love, though, and let them unite us. There is still time to unite behind Constitutional governance and protection from the communist and Islamist enemies who want to destroy this country. That’s what both Santorum and Gingrich stood for, that Romney just doesn’t seem to “get”.

Indeed, but Gingrich has never led Santorum in states. The Gingrich folks believe that Santorum should have dropped out despite the fact that Santorum was a much better candidate and was much stronger vs Romney than Gingrich.

The opportunity where Gingrich could have made a constructive contribution to the race, by endorsing Santorum has passed. That time was back in February.

Now, the race has proceeded far enough that Romney isn’t going to be stopped.

Even if Gingrich were to win all of the remaining red states on the ballot, it still wouldn’t be enough. He’s just too far behind.
