You're right — and this was much, much more than an error in geography. Obama signaled he's on Argentina's side in the dispute. This was either a major diplomatic mistake — or (worse) an intentional (figurative) poke in Britain’s eye.

Uncharacteristic? From the guy who think there's 57 states, never learned to speak "Austrian", and thinks Marines are addressed as "Corpse-man"? Don't forget Hawaii,,,,it's in Asia dontcha know!

I dont recall Bush making an error in geography. I agree with you.
But, of course, with Bush, the press was just looking for things to complain about. Bush once said that "Terrorists will find no safe harbor in Afghanistan". That's an idiomatic expression. It's not wrong (though perhaps not artful). But the press couldn't stop laughing at the stupid president -- Afghanistan doesn't have any harbors!!!!
Bush wasn't talking about a harbor. Shipping was not the topic. But that point escaped the press, who just felt like laughing at him.
Things are different now.

Yes, they are...
A DEMOCRAT is in charge now.
Any mainstream media reporter that DARES to speak the truth about THE MESSIAH will find themselves fired, branded a racist, and on the street looking for a new media job, in the horrible Obama economy.
Now, you wouldn’t want THAT, would you, Mr. Media Guy?

ABSOLUTE SILENCE in the U.S. Media about this.
But of course.
The media and late night comedians explode over the tiniest mistakes by anyone with an (R)or an (C) but glaze over when "The One" makes an obvious error or outright lies.
After Obama was elected I stopped watching the late night comedians, not because of laughs at conservatives expense but because they swerved away from great jokes of the day where obama or his administration flubbed up royally only to yuck it up with a lame Palin, McCain, Limbaugh joke.
And on the rare occasions they did have an Obama joke, the punchline was "how A)brilliant he was... B)How tough he was....C) What a great guy he is...
After all of that sucking up to obama, one would think they needed to have their stomach pumped, a la the old Rod Stewart rumor .
I miss the talent of Johnny Carson(a liberal but one who toasted both sides of the bread)

It is the Falkland Islands.
The Malvinas is a LSD fantasy Argentine politicians pull out when they want to distract the peons from the fact that their lives both suck and blow.

hey, betcha Cristina Fernandez never thought of invading the Maldives!
That would keep her electorate pre-occupied and off her back for quite awhile...

They are called the Falklands. End of Story.
I spent 6 months of my life - a month of it so sea sick I wanted to curl up and die - ensuring they would remain that name.
I don’t approve of name calling, but this guy really is a dumba^s, isn’t he. Kick your oldest and strongest ally yet again.

100% correct. Anyone looking at the history will see that Argentina has about as strong a claim on the Florida Keys, the Hawaiian Islands or the real Maldives, as it has on the Falklands.

Not one of you has yet posted the REAL reason for this.
The Maldives are majority mudslime. Ergo, it is an important place to owebama.
The Falklands (Malvinas) are inhabited by white Christians. Ergo, NOT an important place to owebama.

O'Bozo is still searching for the elusive 58th state in the United States.
How can he be expected to distinguish between islands in the South Atlantic and islands in the Indian Ocean?
Anyway - criticism of his geograpical shortcomings can only be based on pure racism.

I'm sure he's just tired from traveling the 57 states, going back to his home in Asia, and visiting all the corpse men. I'm surprised he didn't say it in Austrian.
