Oh, no. I started a religious debate.
I hadn’t wanted to discuss theology, and I refuse to get sucked into a discussion of theology, just post a novel argument against the Palestinian nonsense that they have been in Israel since before the flood, and we just came yesterday.
I now exit this thread and will not read replies.
No it isn't.
Its not a separate religion.
Yes it is.
Without Christ you wouldnt have anything. And Yashua is what? Jewish, so what does that make you?
Christ is Christian.
Yashua Is Jewish! Being a follower of Yashua makes you a Christian, i.e a follower of Christ!
That's what Christian means.
Wow, now I've heard it all.
They say "if we were to do a DNA test between David, who was a Bethlehemite, and Jesus, born in Bethlehem, and Mitri, born just across the street from where Jesus was born, Im sure the DNA will show that there is a trace. OK, that makes Jesus a Palestinian, doesn't it? And if He was a Palestinian what difference does it make who killed him, or whether he was killed at all? A Palestinian would never be the Messiah!
Judaism can’t claim Christ, because Judaism rejects Christ.
Very simple.
Really? Well perhaps you’d better again dust off your Bible or whatever you use for reference and check up on the Book of Acts. Then too, read about Peter and Paul. Maybe you’d like to look into Dorcas, find out who she was. Not all Jews rejected Messiah. Here’s a bit of information for you. We Jews were looking for a Conquering Messiah because of the Romans. Yashua came as the Suffering Messiah first. Next time He shows up He’ll be the Conquering Messiah. So no, we didn’t reject Him. Just the priests of the Temple. You have to be Jewish to understand. So I understand your ignorance.
Who was born Jewish and taught us all to pray using an exclusively Hebrew formula: "Our Father...."
Moreover, when Jesus commented on hand washing before eating, the Jews of that time couldn't have known anything of microbial theory. But it has always seemed to me that Jesus, were he God incarnate, would, without necessarily revealing anything before it's time, have chosen to wash his hands by the purification custom anyway.
Not that I don't admire Christianity. America could not have been founded without it. But I've long been more interested in the One God of Torah and the Old Testament. Maybe it's more the mystic in me.
I’m a Freeper. I didn’t read the article before spouting off.
New rules? /S LOL

What happened to Eleutheria 1 thru 4?
The Roman legions in ancient Israel/Palestine were made up of local Auxiliaries led by Roman officers. So the “Roman soldiers” at the crucifixion were very likely ethnic Palestinians.
Pilate was in fact a Spaniard by birth, and the post he held was that of praeses (gen. praesidis, whence our "president": literally, "sits before"), the lowest rank of procuratorial officials whose generic designation was praefectus, an invention of Caesar Augustus.
Augustus created the prefectures as a counterweight to, and a control mechanism over, the old Roman republican system of governance by praetors, propraetors, and proconsuls, all of whom were senators, persons in the cursus honorum of the old curule offices of the Republic.
The idea of the prefectures was to create a cadre of civil servants who worked on straight pay, did not strip provinces to enrich themselves as the senatorial officials had typically done, and who received their offices directly from Caesar. The most senior was the prefect of Egypt, and next to him the prefect of the Praetorian Guards in Rome, and after him the fleet prefect at Misenum, on the Bay of Naples facing Pompeii.
Eleutheria is Greek (ancient) for free man. I skipped over the four freedoms of FDR (freedom of worship, freedom from want, etc.), and went straight to the fifth freedom of Lin Yutang: i.e., simple freedom. See Between Tears and Laughter, Doubleday, 1940. The whole book is worth reading.
