ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) -- Police in Georgia handcuffed a kindergartner with her arms behind her back after the girl threw a tantrum and the police chief defended the action as a safety measure.
The girl's family demanded Tuesday that their central Georgia city change policy so that other children aren't treated the same way.

Poor police procedure - without a follow-up tazing, she could stll hurt her wrists on the cuffs by struggling.
And the Teachers, administrators and the police demand that you discipline your wilda$$ child before you send her out in public!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know. In the good old days, the teacher would have been able to give the little brat a swat on the butt before the tantrum got out of hand. Hand cuffing seems mild in comparison. Having said that, the fact that the police were called for a child’s tantrum is crazy.
I don’t agree with handcuffing such a small child, but a stern talking to by the officer backed up by a warmed fanny would have been much better.
I have seen children literally scream until they’re purple, and what does mommy do, she buys them what they want. Reward for tantrums just brings about bigger and better fits. I for one have a difficult time being around such children.
Either this or corporal punishment.
I completely agree. Unfortunately, the school systems' hands are so tied these days, they probably didn't know what else to do.
At least this thread isn’t starting out in breaking.
I don't recall getting it "burned" in kindergarten but I got a couple a bit farther down the road. My big fear was that Mom might find out and there was certainly no thought of retribution against the school or teacher.
I have 2 daughters. Neither looks like Salecia.
“I dont agree with handcuffing such a small child ...”
This small child grabbed pictures off the wall and turned a bookcase over on the principal, causing injury. She could not be controlled by school standards now.
These days, if a school employee takes hold of a child, the school is sued. Calling the police was the only way out of this. The child had to be stopped.
That’s a good one. :-)
Even though I don’t agree with the handcuffing I would have given a months pay to be locken in a room with this brat for 2 minutes.
Some parents are proud of their little savages. I for one can’t stand the fact that these so called parents inflict these little savages on society.
Parents are responsible for all damages and injuries incurred. Bet people won’t see one sime of it.
Meant “one dime of it”.
How 'bout a Tazer For Tots?
Curb those Terrible Two's tandrums, give your unruly toddler an attitude adjustment.
Spanking your little kindergartner is so outdated, "Tazer For Tots" is the new PC tool for the modern family.
With behavior like that and parents who put the blame for her bad behavior on the teachers then handcuffing is something this little monster had better get used to. She’s probably going to be getting this treatment a lot in her future.
Soon she will grow up and start wearing hoodies and then someone will shoot her for getting all thug like.
It’s the pattern in her life. We’ll be posting about how she was shot down in her teen life and was turning her life around after starting a career as a up and coming rap star.
Keeping it real.
Gots to get me some of that!
It was probably safer to cuff her than to whack her evil little behind with a baton.
It's about time the authoritahs stopped pretending that it wasn't.
Obama’s army of Jack Booted Thugs!
I’m trying to figure out how they got the cuffs to stay on, unless this girl is on the larger size. I have had petite woman that I could not cuff because their wrists were too small.
Here's video of the 2005 incident (link below). You can see the office where the girl has gone ape. She is fairly calm at the first of it and then starts going berserk again and hitting at the school official. At the end of the video, police put handcuffs on her. I don't think the mother won the public relations war in this one because there was video, but I'm not entirely sure how it turned out. It would be interesting to know how It would be nice in this latest case if there was video too. When incidents like this happen school officials should tape it if they can to protect themselves. Obviously, they had had run-ins with this little girl from 2005 before, so they were prepared.
Here's why the police are called and why adminstrators and teachers can't do anything to the little sweeties:
This guy that wrote the above is/was a liberal BTW.
Shifren tells of his referral of one student to the principal's office for discipline for stabbing another student in class with a pencil. The student soon returned to class with a taxpayer-paid community activist, designated as a "parent rep," who screamed at him in front of the class. "I'm tired of you kicking Black kids out of your class," she yelled. But Shifren points out that every student in his class was Black.
Me speaking again:
So Al and Jesse will be called looking to capitalize on it for their own interests and the parents will be looking to capitalize on it for their own interests. Instead, the parents should be trying to figure out why their daughter is out of control. Meanwhile, the little girl will learn that no one can tell her what to do and she can act anyway she pleases. She will be out walking amongst us one day as an out of control adult. You can see the videos on You Tube of these older ferals on trains and in fast food restaurants acting like wild beasts. And we are all supposed to tolerate it and say, "Thank you, may I have another."
