Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor known as much for his folksy wisdom as his investing prowess, announced Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
In a letter to shareholders, Buffett, 81, said that he had been diagnosed with stage I prostate cancer.
The good news is that I've been told by my doctors that my condition is not remotely life-threatening or even debilitating in any meaningful way, Buffett said in the letter.
Buffett said that he will begin a two-month treatment of daily radiation in mid-July. He said his travel will be restricted during that time but it will not otherwise change his daily routine.
In his typical conversational style, Buffett said that he feels great.

A man lives long enough the chancer are high for getting this type of cancer.
That’s unfortunate but at least Warren had 81 years before having to confront it.
Unlike the thousands, and maybe millions, of babies he spent three billion dollars on having killed in the womb.
Horrible news. Prayers for a quick recovery and peace for his family during this awful time.
I can’t believe you said that. People over that DU said the same thing about Cheney that he should not have gotten a new heart because he was too old. When on Earth did you start agreeing with liberals???? I respect you but that statement was uncalled for.
He is too old to receive treatment.....per obamacare.
Just what the heck are they doing hecking a routine PSA in an 81 year old anyway.... I’m sure the government came out with recent “recommendations” that screening PSA’s were not to be done. Finding a slow growing Prostate cancer in an 81 year old will likely cause more harm than just ignoring it by not testing for it !! Better check with the death panel and see if we should treat him after all as Gov Lamb said ...”Old people have a duty to die!”
...and so goes Obama’s last chance to get re-elected.
I guess he should leave all his money to the government. After all, who did anything that they should have a claim on his wealth?
Apparently, a new IRS rule has gone into effect that if one owes more than $50,000 in back taxes, they cancel your passport. I thought of Buffett as I read the article here on FR this morning. Such timing!
I had prostate cancer 19 years ago and had it taken care of with medication and radiation therapy. Oncologist tell me that he is sure it wont come back. (I am 83.5 yo)
Also, every pathologist I came in contact with that did autopsy’s told me that every man over 80 has prostate cancer but it not fast growing. Oh yes, I spent 42 years in the medical field.
Warren’s QALY score is still high enough to get treatment, at his age? Oh yeah, being Obama’s useful idiot raises your number.
As long as you’ve been around here and I still need a /s tag?
Dang it Lancey.....you got me.....lol. That made me laugh hard. I am an idiot sometimes for sure.
I am certain he will leave his wealth to the US Treasury. He’s found his religion late in life and it’s third world fascism under the black muslim messiah in the white hut.
