In an April 3rd appearance on the left-wing Democracy Now TV show, Van Jones has offered his own behind-the-scenes take on an incident that made race a political issue three years before the Trayvon Martin case. As Jones describes it, the infamous "beer summit" on the White House lawn was a case where President Obama was "forced" into a meeting with a "racist" police officer.

IIRC, the cop teaches minority sensitivity classes to other cops. The Cambridge police received a call that someone was breaking into a house. They went there and confronted the man who then refused to come out through the broken door. He also refused to show an ID. They cuffed him and took him away. Maybe my memory is a bit foggy but I suspect most people would be glad to hear that the cops acted properly. Obama stepped in ‘it’ when trying to pander to blacks (from whom he already has nearly complete support). When Obama steps in ‘it’ he always comes out smelling like ‘it’.
