Note that they said “can” cause man made earthquakes... But It did not say that it does. More supposition and possibility reported as fact.

They will have to prove it to me. Let them try and cause a earthquake. They are natural and we would not be living without earthquakes. All the land would be covered with water.

Yes. Fracking lifts the overburden, ie: the earth above, to cause longitudinal cracks in the strata being fracked.
The pressures being used are great. A standing column of pure water 8000 ft high has a pressure of 3464psi. When you add the weight of different items to the fracking fluid being used plus the added pressure from the pumps you can understand the resulting pressure on the strata being fracked. The strata ruptures. The rupture increases the area for the inward flow of oil, gas or whatever. Q=AV
The actual formula contains more variables but that is the basic equation.

That is truly uplifting! Long live Benioff zones. The Tectonically challenged can go frack themselves.

“The sky is fallling, the sky is falling”........we are all doomed. My God when will it stop? I would be willing to
say a challenge to that study will soon be forth coming.

Total BS. The volume used in fracking is minimal and it is nowhere near the depth required to set off an earthquake.

Just another variation of Global Warming.

"The U.S. Geological Survey is set to release its findings Wednesday that a "remarkable" increase of quakes in the U.S. midcontinent since 2001 is "almost certainly" the result of oil and gas production."

Should be just about any moment now....
