Zoning the ocean
Human Events ^ | 4/18/2012 | Audrey Hudson

President Barack Obama has an ambitious plan for Washington bureaucrats to take command of the oceans—and with it control over much of the nation’s energy, fisheries, even recreation in a move described by lawmakers as the ultimate power grab to zone the seas.

The massive undertaking also includes control over key inland waterways and rivers that reach hundreds of miles upstream, and began with little fanfare when Obama signed an executive order in 2010 to protect the aquatic environment.

“This one to me could be the sleeping power grab that Americans will wake up to one day and wonder what the heck hit them,” said Rep. Bill Flores (R –Texas).

“This is pure administrative fiat,” said Sen. David Vitter (R –La.). “It’s very troubling.”

“This is purely a unilateral administrative action with no real congressional input or oversight,” Vitter said. “I think it clearly threatens to have a big impact on a lot of industry, starting with energy, oil and gas, and fishing.”

But in his zeal to curb sea sprawl, lawmakers say the president’s executive order also gives Washington officialdom unprecedented reach to control land use as well.

Dear God - we have to get this communist tyrant out of office in November.

Replacing him with another socialist by the name of Romney won't fix the problem. What we need is to take Congress over with actual Conservatives and then force them to stand up to him. Unfortunately we've got a lot of RINOs in Congress who aren't being challenged like they should, and so if it comes down to Obama or Romney, we are in trouble either way, because the RINOs have no problem with crossing the aisle.

"The house can stop all this extraconstitutional BS by...But they do not. Why?"

I also wonder why the Republicans in the House have done nothing to stop/prevent all of these socialist Obama extreme Executive Orders - as you have suggested?
Anyone have any possible answers?

I thought it was that way too, but apparently not in for a while in practice.

Which, of course, means voting Republican...voting Romney.

Personally I think there is now one party in Washington and they put on “Ayres” to make it look like we have a choice. I think it happened under Bush 1/Clinton. Somewhere in that era.

Since then I see nothing but one ‘side’ whipping up things that PO the other - just enough to make the public disgusted anough to say ‘screw it’ and ignore them. They then do whatever they want and every 4 years put on the ‘democracy show’ so that we get our regular “I participated’ trophy.

My other theory is that half of each party in Washington is gay and the other half threaten them with outing unless they vote ‘properly’.

I say these things not jokingly, but seriously.

“They can impeach him”

The House can initiate proceedings, but it takes the Senate to try/convict, and we know that won’t happen w/Reid and the Dums.

Can the House defund his stuff without the Senate or not? (I know funding has to originate there, but to defund, can’t remember if they can do that by themselves.) Sorry I’ve forgotten my civics on that one.

THANKS! Please send this list to the Candidate of your choice with a note to have his Campaign staff work up a comparison of ECs with other presidents.

Also add that ECs are just a way of ramming something down the citizen’s throats without going to Congress to get legal permission to do so.

Dictator “Bypass Congress” Barack is obvious to us, but our sorry Candidates lack the backbone to shout Obama down.

A dictator, such as Obama, only has the power that the people give him.

Currently, at least 40 % of American voters are gladly willing to give Obama the necessary power to continue his dictatorship.

Dictator Obama has designed Obama”care” to become active only AFTER he is re-elected, thus enabling THE NINE SUPREMES to delay ruling on the Constitutionality of the dictate of the individual mandate until Obama is once again the Illegal Foreign White House Occupier, (IFWHO).

The purpose of Dictator Baby-Doc Barack is simple: 1.) Regulate; 2.) Control; and 3.) Destroy. By his own count he as achieved 60 % of his goals, according to the note he says he carries in his pocket.

Obama’s obvious deep hatred of America could have only come from his childhood.

Since there are no known networks of childhood friends from Obama’s past, Obama was probably a member of a Marxist sleeper cell funded by wealthy men with a Marxist view of the World.

The lack of credible evidence that has NOT been forged requires a long-term, highly skilled and well-funded support group.

Who the key members of Obama’s probable support group and probable sleeper cell were and are is well known to the CIA and the FBI.

Will the “Citizen Journalists” such as Breitbart Editor Joel Pollack be able to out-spy these two tax-funded spy entities?

BTW, forget about the LAM, (Liberal Agenda Media), as they are saving their notes to write their tell-all Obama books after Obama has SAFELY retired back home in Kenya.

BTW, BTW, to all the doubters of the above speculation: what does your gut tell you?

The house can impeach; whether or not the senate caries through is a different matter. But the act of impeachment itself is solely a house function.

As for the funding, since funding must originate in the house, the senate is again not an issue.

Say that Barry goes back to the LOTS treaty nonsense for example. The house can at that point stop dead on funding anything further and shut down the govt until he retracts. They have it within their authority and power to do so every time that Obama tries ANYTHING they do not like. And no one but the voters can do anything about it.

Right this moment, Bohner could say “Since Obama has repeatedly exceeded his authority on Libya, Obamacare, Gulf Drilling et all, We have decided to withold all house votes on all issued before us until he complies with the constitution, repeals his ExOrders and returns to constitutional governance. Should he not comply or etaliate by threatening to use old people and our military as financial hostages, we will immediately file impeachment proceedings.”

The press can scream, the dems can scream, whatever. The only people with the authority to do anything about it are the American voters. Period. The Supremes have no say in this, nor do appeals courts. At best Obama could declare martial law, but then he gets to face the country one on one.

From day one they have had this authority. But they out of fear of it being done to a Repub prez will not do it. So they too must be voted out wholesale ASAP.

When does his behavior achieve the level of impeachment? If he were white, he’d have been out months ago.

No, that was the old Constitutional way of funding government. Now we just pretend they fund it. The current state of the budget should prove the house can't defund a dang thing.

Basically I am of the mode and Bush and Obama are carbon twins of each other at this point.

I think you are on to something there. GW still has a following here bt you are absolutely correct. I am glad he built that fence after he promised too before his last term, but that evil Senator Kay, from Texas defeated his effort. </sarcasm>

Clinton tried a similar power grab during his regime. It can be challenged and struck down if the 'Pubbies in DC get it from the Federal Register and hit their legislative brakes.

I agree. Romney was NOT my choice, and he falls short of my ideal in a number of ways, but IMHO, his election would not be the catastrophe that another Obama term would bring. Obama was somewhat restrained his first four years. He will be completely unfettered during a second term, because he would no longer have to worry about reelection. Or as he put it to Putin’s puppet: “I will have more flexibility after my election”. More flexibility to sell us out to our enemies. More flexibility to shove his environmental regulations down our throats and kill more jobs. More flexibility to oppress us with Obamacare, with no way out. More opportunities to appoint far-left judges to the courts — and maybe even the Supreme Court. More flexibility to enact liberal policies. The best we can hope for, even if we get control of both the House and the Senate, is four years of gridlock.

No, thank you.
