President Barack Obama took a hard-to-miss shot at presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney on Wednesday, declaring "I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth" as he defended his economic policies in Ohio.
Obama didn't name Romney. He didn't need to. The president and his campaign have worked to make the former Massachusetts governor and millionaire investor's personal finances an issue in the election even as they hammer his economic proposals as giveaways to the rich financed by cutting services to everyone else—like financial aid for college students.
"Somebody gave me an education. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Michelle wasn't. But somebody gave us a chance," Obama said in a speech at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio. "Right now we have two competing visions of our future, and the choice could not be clearer," said the president. "Should we settle for an economy where a few people do really well and then a growing number are struggling to get by?"

President Obama, please explain more about the $300k plus/year job that was given to your wife after you were elected to the US Senate. My understanding is that this job didn’t exist until it was given to her and ceased exist after she left. If I am right about this, please explain to those of us who have to go to extrordinary lengths just to hold on to much lesser paying jobs why we should sympathise with your perceived economic plight.
No, he had affirmative action which obviously counts for more than a silver spoon. With a silver spoon someone had to work for it even if it was generations ago, affirmative action is a freebie and all you have to know how to do is ‘march’.
